Tsunami warning has now been set for Northern Australia. Darwin in 6 hours and Queensland 8 hours Anyone that knows people in these areas are urged to advise them in case they havent been watching the news. Unknown how severe it will be when it hits our shores.
Smart move putting this here SKT - thanks. Have been able to alert friends in Thailand who have family in Darwin.
Yea thought the more places it gets posted the more lives we may be able to save if it hits us hard as people will be able to contact loved ones/friends or whoever... From the Herald Sun
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre in Hawaii said a tsunami warning was in effect for Australia, Japan, Russia, Marcus Island and the Northern Marianas. A tsunami watch has been extended and now includes the US West Coast, Hawaii, western Al...askan islands, Guam, Taiwan, the Philippines and Indonesia.

Um is it just me that is wondering how the Tsunami is expected to pass though Indonesia and PNG to hit us?
They say Tsunamis "wrap" around islands and stuff and will hit all sides. The link i provided down the bottom has a good picture that where we are compared to where it started. Can kinda see how it would reach us... Channel 9 are stating that Australia is NOT on the warnings list. But still the US tsunami monitoring centre is reporting warnings for Australia... So do we believe the Australian monitoring centre or the US monitoring centre... http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/wo...d-tsunami-alerts/story-e6frf7lf-1226019971674
"Officials have said there is no tsunami threat to Australia. Warnings were earlier released by The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre in Hawaii for virtually the entire Pacific coast following a powerful earthquake in Japan on Friday. But a statement issued by the Joint Australian Tsunami Warning Centre rescinded that threat. There is also no risk to New Zealand."

Good to hear no warning anyway. But still wouldnt hurt to make contact with anyone up in those areas, you never know what will happen... @Jason Yea that video is something isnt it...
Incredible isn't it! It's been one heck of a weird year thus far. And even at the end of 2010 there were the snow storms in other parts of the globe that sparked travel chaos. If the world is supposed to end in 2012, that only leaves 2 Grand Finals left to be won! Who will get them?
Well everyone thought the world would end if Collingwood won a premiership and well it certainly looking that way.. Think they should hand the cup back
Especially if they get the three-peat! That was definitely mentioned in revelations somewhere I think. (Apparently VFL GF's didn't count! ) That said- far out, my brother is in Japan and while he avoided the carnage- there's the current threat of nuclear meltdown. Sounds bloody scary over there!
Hope he's alright mate, tell him to stay safe! You've sent him over to scout for more houses eh? None left in Aus that you don't already own? ;p Lots of incredible videos up on ninemsn of the tsunami, but the fireball from the oil refinery was incredible! Hopefully they manage to keep the nuclear silos at a stable temperature for everyones sake.
