Membership is now open to a new franchise that will be one day hopefully be admitted into the hallowed ORFFL, provided there is no SANFL skullduggery going on. If you are lucky enough to already have an ORFFL team, you may choose to ignore this thread and consider me as nothing more than a general nuisance ("children" I think was the Lucas description - wait until he sees melbandy's team).

WHITSUNDAY WARRIORS

The Whitsunday Warriors hale from this tropical paradise teeming with hidden treasure and home to the Gia People (no relation). The Warriors home base is Hook Island, bastion of fearsome pirates and sundry cutthroats, plus the occasional wahini.

Hook Island
Hook Island is one of the Whitsunday Islands off the coast of Queensland and was named after Captain Hook, patron saint of the Whitsunday Warriors, who called in at Nara Inlet in the early 1800s to refurbish his pirate fleet and declare the Warriors to be the next ORFFL franchise.

Full facilities are provided for visiting ORFFL teams.

The island is quite rugged and has two prominent geographical features on the southern side; the Nara and Macona inlets, two fjord-like recesses that are used as anchorages for pirate ships and are home to pining Norwegian parrots. The island's northern coast is noted for its colourful underwater coral growths, which attract snorkeling and diving enthusiasts to the deadly jellyfish found in the area. Goggles and snorkels are provided free of charge to visiting teams.

Some of the oldest archeological sites ever found in Eastern Australia are the caves and midden of the Ngaro People on Hook Island. The site recently unearthed by Xenomorph at Nara Inlet is the oldest indication of Aboriginal occupation of the Great Barrier Reef.

Aboriginal rock art at Nara Inlet. These ancient symbols have been adopted as the team logo by the
Whitsunday Warriors.

On 12 February 2008 a sailing vessel carrying a pre-season team from Tasmania ran aground at Cape Cove. The vessel became wedged on dangerous rocks requiring the rescue of 37 people by helicopter. According to Andrew Demitriou the incident was the AFL’s largest helicopter rescue operation from a vessel, not including the ill-fated pre-season game at Wangaratta.

If you're going to start up a competing company Terry, I can't in good faith keep you in my organisation.

You're out of the band.

This rare tree snake only turns blue when it spies Carlton supporters or Norwegian parrots.

While these make up the staple of pirate tucker, the sea abounds with interesting and mysterious creatures. At least two people have died from irukandji jellyfish stings while snorkeling off Hook Island. And there are other things in the water.

This is what spinoffs are all about H. and according to company law good faith is maintained until such time as the satellite receives a license?

Surfing is of course encouraged for visitors.

Coach TiB swims out to let Jason Porplyzia know he won't be a required player at the Warriors this year.

Irukandji jellyfish are tiny and extremely venomous jellyfish that inhabit marine waters off Hook Island and are sometimes found in bathtubs at the Hook Island Resort. They have the unique ability to fire their stingers into their victim, causing symptoms collectively known as Irukandji Syndrome. Its size is roughly no larger than a cubic centimetre and there are two known species; Carukia barnesi, named after John Barnes, and the recently discovered Malo kingi, most likely named after Hornsy.

History of the Whitsunday Warriors

Pirate life can be a bit boring at times and often is not all it is cracked up to be. Beach cricket is fine in the summer, but when the monsoon sets in, pirates are usually confined indoors and thoughts often stray towards mutiny. Captain Hook determined that it was necessary to also have a wet season sport. This was mostly a pick-me-up game for those not sleeping off a hangover, but it quickly developed into organized competition and the Whitsunday Warriors were born.

Irukandji Syndrome is produced by a small amount of venom and includes severe pains at various parts of the body (typically excruciating muscle cramps in the arms and legs, severe pain in the back and kidneys, a burning sensation of the skin and face), headaches, nausea, restlessness, sweating, vomiting, an increase in heart rate and blood pressure, are common. However, what is particularly unique about these jellyfish is that they can induce a psychological phenomena such as the sudden feeling of impending doom when having just successfully negotiated a trade. The syndrome is in part caused by release of catecholamines and the venom also contains a sodium channel modulator, recently patented by the ORRFA Admin.

The island has many colourful names for the crooks (especially the crooks) and crannies that make up the coastline. Hornsy usually prefers to stay at Maureen’s Cove, Heavymen at Luncheon Bay, while Bearfly has a permanent lease on Crayfish Beach. Real estate is still available at Mantaray Bay, Mackeral Bay, Caves Cove and Nara Inlet.

I see. I get the picture. One little fumble of the ball by Crameri and now it is the Hornsy vs TiB thread.

Potoroos always welcome at low-season rates.
However, it might be best to stay out of the water.

All profits from the sale of my famous Lobster Pies from the Crayfish Beach Pie Shop will from now on go towards my newly created charitable fund, the Bearfly-needs-to-pay-off-the-engagement-ring-charitable-trust.
However, 10% of profits could also go towards the Bearfly-needs-to-pay-for-next-Melbourne-trip-fund to enable further cold bevvies with the crew!!!
