TooSerious

For those who take it way too seriously

Alright, there's two parts to this post.

First thing is to get you to join our Tipping competitions.

Second thing, is to introduce you to my daughter. She's 11 and will be tipping this year. Reckon you can beat her?
<div>

So, the first part. We have two comps open on two different sites (Depending on which way you roll)

color: #444444;]We have a league on Sportsbets Million dollar tipping. The league code is: 43777, the password is tooserious<br style='color: #444444;[/img]
<br style='color: #444444;[/img]
[span style='color: #444444;]We also have a league on Footytips. To join that one,Click here

Now, onto the 11 year old.

Her name is Indi. She's a smart kid. Her tips for this round run as follows.

Collingwood vs Fremantle
GWS vs Sydney
Gold Coastvs Richmond
Carltonvs Port Adelaide

Join up to one of the comps, lets see if you can tip better than an 11 year old!
And so another season begins!

Or not quite yet but the clock is ticking! How confident are we all heading into the start of this fine season? Panicking about any last minute line calls?

Remember, we have the chat open here -http://tooserious.net/Chat.aspx or you can find the link anytime up there in the menu bar. It's always a good time in there. :D

Great discussion again last week. &#160;But the time has come to stop sitting on the fence and actually back your PODs in.
Here's the team that I have arrived at and why I've made certain changes over the past week:
<strong style='font-size: 14px;]Defenders:
OUT: Hanley, Georgiou
IN: Walker, Cutler
I went cold on Hanley after suspecting that it might happen. &#160;D8 could revert to Georgiou or potentially becomes Clurey. &#160;For now, I have Cutler ahead in terms of potential SC output and (slightly) better job security. &#160;Georgiou probably doesn't play after Garland returns. &#160;Clurey (if named for R1) could be in trouble when Trengove returns.
<strong style='font-size: 14px;]Midfielders:
OUT: Ablett, Crouch
IN: Watson, Lemmens
Ablett still has a band-aid. &#160;He may come back in, but for now I'm running Ablett-free. &#160;M8 is similar to D8, in that it could easily revert to M.Crouch or possibly Robertson depending on final teams. &#160;I think Grigg is ahead of M.Crouch to play R1. &#160;Lemmens on the other hand, I like for R1 and beyond.
<strong style='font-size: 14px;]Rucks:
OUT: Minson
IN: Lobbe
Need the cash elsewhere. &#160;Not 100% convinced that Lobbe is a keeper yet, but I can't see him losing value on his start price and there is a decent enough chance that he goes up significantly due to having a full pre-season (for the first time) and not having any real internal competition for SC pie at Port Adelaide.
Forwards:
OUT: Parker, Mitchell, Rohan
IN: Martin, Wingard, McDonough
Upgraded to more likely keepers. &#160;Would be lucky if both Parker and Mitchell started in my SC team and rose from mid-price to elite in the same year. &#160;Sure it might happen, but history says I'm not THAT lucky when it comes to picking SC players. &#160;McDonough in a half-back role should score better than Rohan, especially if he keeps up his pre-season form.
/Portals/0/Users/222/74/4574/RMT%20Round%204.PNG'...
Do we still need to wait until channel 7 to do their dirty business before we get the teams?

Who knows. What I do know is that FOOTY IS BACK!

Join us in theChattonight to discuss it.

What's the bet that we crash TS again like last year. :D

With the Freako email hitting mailboxes soon enough, lets dig through the latest to see if we can't glean a little something from the TOG figures.

Now remember, these are DT stats, not SC

Defenders

91% 66 Ben Griffiths (Expensive in SC)

86% 62 Tom Clurey
81% 52 Jeremy Laidler

80% 36 Clay Cameron

79% 54 Tom Langdon

77% 71 Luke McDonald

74% 81 Will Langford

71% 48 Alexis Georgiou*

39% 38 Tom Cutler

High amounts of TOG from defenders bodes well for with game time come the season proper.

Mid

81% 54 Dylan Buckley

77% 75 Harry Cunningham

75% 60 Jack Martin

74% 75 James Aish

72% 91 Jared Polec

68% 75 Viv Michie

65% 70 Matt Crouch

60% 45 Sean Lemmens

58% 63 Luke Dunstan

57% 74 Xavier Ellis

57% 78 Dom Tyson

46% 48 Nick Robertson

Some worrying Tog given to a few of these blokes, points to potential vest duty. Though from memory, Ellis was nursed through the pre-season.

Ruc

70% 36 Daniel Currie

67% 47 Tom Derickx

43% 42 Sam Naismith

32% 37 Fraser Thurlow

Paddy Ryder with Daniher as the back up looks like the way the Bombers will go, removing a lot of the value that Thurlow presented. Could be better off going Currie/Derickx on these numbers.

Fwd

77% 63 Gary Rohan

77% 75 Matthey McDonough

67% 41 Lincoln McCarthy

64% 44 Jarman Impey

63% 57 Jordan Bourke

48% 59 Zac Merrett

44% 24 Jack Billings

42% 47 Jay Kennedy-Harris

Rohan and McDonough. I'm expecting to see them in just about every team!

Did I miss anyone? Let us know in the comments.

After a long season we have now arrived at grand final week. But first we must review round 2 of the finals. Please join us over the break where we review all the finals from the various leagues.

Premier League

King of Karlos will meet Westside Hardcore in the grand final. They were seeded 1 and 2 so it is appropriate that they have made it all the way through to the grand final. I would say that Karlos would go into the match as favourite but Westside will be happy that Millsap is back on deck which gives him a chance.

Last week Jasmine was relegated to Division One. After the results of the minor round finals, Anthak is now the second person from the Premier League going down to Division One. It is sad to see two of the founding members of the TS NBA community be relegated but I am sure it won't be too long before we see them back in the Premier League.

2 Westside Hardcore 1618 defeated 3 Wade Machine 1550

This match was in the balance at the start of the final day where Westside were holding a small lead. However they were able to onto their lead and claim one of the grand final spots. Games played were 48-47 in favour of Wade Machine. Of all players Matt Barnes (164/3) led the way for Westside followed by Batum (158/4) and Matthews (161/4). Wade Machine have been a force throughout the season and I fully expected them to make the GF with their strong roster but they were let down this round by some of their key players. Noah was the standout with (195/4), next best were Monroe (193/4) and Curry (162/4).

1 King of Karlos 1609 defeated the 4 Jug O Naughts 1530

Karlos was able to claim a hard fought win over Fez. Once again this match was in the balance on the final day but Fez was unable to pull back the lead of 70 pts. Games played were 45-44 in favour of Fez. Durant stood up when it counted for Karlos with (204/3), next best were Hawes (140/3) and Parsons (139/3). Fez will be...

Some of you may have read this article, as it was put up on the Hun website last Friday. Here it is again, but on TS, in its unedited form - ie. without the SC Gold reference :)

Cash Cows

Due to being raised on a dairy farm, Gary Rohan could be considered the ultimate cash cow in the AFL, because it is otherwise fairly difficult to associate AFL players with cattle. The exception is when you are a SuperCoach playing to win, in which case cash cows&amp;rdquo; are a regular part of one's vocabulary.

Cash Cows are players who you have in your team primarily to generate money, which you can then use to strengthen your team. Rookie-priced players generally rise in value quickly and by the largest margin. Most SuperCoaches will start with somewhere between nine and 16 rookie-priced players and the idea is to trade them in at the point where they have peaked in price. Using cash cows to their maximum potential can result in having a fully upgraded team by about Round 14, ready to pile on the points in the run home to the end of the season.

The initial salary of first year players is determined by where they were taken in their draft; whereas experienced players' salaries are mostly dependant on their average points from the season prior. Based on the latter, we can attribute hypothetical price-based averages to the first-year players and to those who have a discounted starting price, which helps us predict how a player's price may evolve during the season. For example, pick #1 in the 2012 GWS Mini-draft, Jack Martin, has a starting salary of $222,300, which is the equivalent of a player who averaged approximately 42 points last season; whereas Matt Crouch, who was selected at pick 23 of the National Draft, has a starting salary of $117,300, the approximate equivalent to an...
