Hey hey! Footy is back, and it was back with a bit of a bang with Geelong taking the biscuits with a two point win over Collingwood.



Obviously, every single team now will include Beams. Not only is he discounted, but he also top scored with 103SC from 35 touches. Lockiest lock ever.



Pendlebury came on in the First Quarter after starting in the red vest. Honestly, I was suprised to see his score. 22 touches yet still managed a 98SC. Makes me think I have to get him back in, considering how easily he does it.



Stokes top scored for the Catters with 39 touches (23 handballs) and 95SC. Speaking of tons of touches, Enright did that too, with 25 kicks and 11 handballs for a game high 128DT. Sadly, just an 86SC though. Still a solid premium defender if you're interested.



Jesse White looked good for the Pies, with 94SC to his name through 5 goals. Hawkins did much the same for the Cats, kicking 4 straight, those SC wise, rewarded with just a 71SC. Personally, both players aren't viable selections despite their good games.



Adams is going to attract a lot of mid-priced attention. Fitted right in, with 31 disposals and 90SC. As will Jamie Elliot. Played a lot higher up the ground through the game, even starting the final term in the centre square, picking up 17 touches, 9 tackles and 79SC (Cracked the ton in DT though!). Both for mine look to be excellent options for your draft games.



Sidebottom had terrible disposal. Reflected in his 117:88 DT:SC ratio I guess.



And finally, Bartel. Spent a lot of time across the forward line, looked good, but picked up just 17 touches, including 5 kicks, and 65SC. Not exactly what you want from a premium, but of course, it's just the pre-season.

Tigers were bundled out of the finals by the 9th[span style='font-size: 16px;] placed team. This
is somewhat ironic however, as a Richmond supporter, I'd rather brush over this
point rather than explore it. An improvement in morale and better chemistry in
the team formed a pretty strong force for the Tigers. Brandon Ellis, Daniel Jackson
and Nick Vlastuin were the standout performers with better than expected
seasons. From a SuperCoach perspective, Deledio, Cotchin and Riewoldt were a
little disappointing but were still able to score relatively well. 2013 may
have ended in disappointment, but it appears that Richmond may be entering
their most successful period of football for a long time.

should consider from the yellow and black.

It is down to the business end of the season where owners are either looking forward to the finals or have started planning for next year.







Premier League (by Steve)



There is only one finals spot still in doubt in the Premier League. The equation is simple for Walesy, if he wins this round against Karlos he is in the finals. However if he loses, the following comes into play:

At the start of this round, Walesy's total points for was 693 pts higher than Steve's. After day 2, this total points margin has been reduced to 548 so Steve is well on his way to reducing this deficit, hahaha. </li>

Jasmine's Mob (2-12) 1371 defeated Feel the Love (7-8) 1176

Jasmine delivered a crushing blow to the final's chances of Feel the Love this round and win was thoroughly deserved. She was due for a change of luck as not much has gone right for her this season. Games played were 39 all. The surprise packet Randy Foye led the way with (172/4), followed by Gibson (160/4) and Hickson (151/4). This match will haunt Feel the Love for a very long time as they had their chances but were let down by some of their bigger names. Only 3 players broke the 100 pt mark this round - Love (129/2), Dragic (183/3) and Calathes (139/4).




King of Karlos (13-2) 1876 defeated Ruddy's Cavaliers (6-9) 1266

Rationale:Said last year that they had the best young talent on their list. They are now ready to go. Easily the best forward line and rivaling Iron Knob and Cradle Mountain for best mids. Defence only thing stopping me from guaranteeing them a top 4 finish at the very, very least.

As part of a series of articles from TooSerious writers to be featured on the Herald Sun website over the pre-season, last week I had a look at the value of POD players in SuperCoach. The story changed names a few times along the way, and picked up some extra bits in editing such as an extended introduction and calling Mike Pyke a banana, but rest assured this is the original piece. I didn't have access to the stats on how many teams players are currently in, so that isn't included here, and the list of players at the bottom of the article only includes brief notes as to why they have potential upside this year.

The Value of POD's





In SuperCoach player selection always comes down to one basic equation, asking price vs scoring potential.



As simple as that may seem, the more you try to analyse it the more complex it becomes. With an almost infinite amount of variables, and the majority of them entirely subjective, scoring potential is something that simply cannot be measured.



Picking a good POD (Point Of Difference) in SuperCoach is therefore very difficult, but as we'll see it can also be very rewarding.



Other recent articles have already covered the tactics and strategies of team structures, so here we'll look at how valuable some of the 2013 POD's were to their coaches.



By definition a POD is a player that is not in the majority of teams, so the inherent risk in selecting them is that if they aren't effective you not only lose points to a lot of people, you also have to burn some trades to fix the problem. Vice versa, when they are effective you can find yourself rising through the ranks or dominating your leagues pretty quickly.
