<p style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 18px;]The crazy bastards actually did it. From the prospectus:
<p style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 18px;]Round 1 will be treated as a 'test' week given it is split over two weeks. Your score however will count towards your season tally.
Unlimited trades can be made to your side prior to the commencement of Round 2. Once that round begins though, your team is locked away.
Player prices will begin changing after Round 2 (ie, between rounds 2-3) as final teams will be locked prior to round 2
<p style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 18px;]Meaning, you get to chase the fixture over the first week and get an idea on actual teams before locking in.
<p style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 18px;]The kicker for me though, is that sixth line. The one about the player prices moving after round 2! That's a massive change to the formula.

I've used m0nty's fanplannerso I'm not 100% sure that the prices/positions are all up to scratch yet, but it seems pretty close.
Anyways, I've gone with a fair mid-priced strategy here, grabbing a swag of value! Would love to hear your take on value this year, as I reckon, last year, showed us that the extra trades made value an even greater commodity on the field than ever before.
Take that inconsistent GnR's!
Defenders: Sam Mitchell, Pearce Hanley, Grant Birchall, Jack Grimes, Beau Waters, Matt SUCKLING (Luke McDonald, <a href="http://tooserious.net/Player.aspx?id=2304&name=Dylan Van Unen">Dylan Van Unen[/url] )
Mids: Jobe Watson, Callan Ward, Marc Murphy, Dayne Beams, Dale Thomas, Jack Martin,...

Wade Machine 1183 (5-1) defeated Feel the Love 1083 (2-4)
At the start of this matchup, I thought there was no way Wade Machine could win this matchup just purely based on the number of games played. How wrong was I? I did not expect Wade Machine to average 45pts per player per game! It really was an awesome performance by Wade Machine to get the win considering I played 9 games more than him. Curry did most of the damage with 202/3, next best were Monroe 166/4 and Dirk 161/3. Feel the Love was Loveless this round and their best players were Anderson 152/3, Koufos 133/3 and Lee 118/3.
King of Karlos 1556 (4-2) defeated Anthak (2-4) 1092
Judging by Ant's comments during the week, he conceded the win to Karlos very early in the round based on the number of games played (42-30) and was already thinking about the next round with some of his planning. As a result, Karlos was able to get a comfortable victory. It helps when Durant scores 276/4 by himself plus good support from Lillard 196/4 and Oladipo 149/4. The leading scorers for Ant this round were Carmelo 150/3, Rolo 152/4 and Mayo 116/4
Jasmine's Mob 1201 (1-5) defeated &frac12; Gasol 0 Eyebrow 861 (3-3)
Finally Jasmine has been able to post her first win for the season. She came very close last week to getting a win but this round was able to beat a depleted &frac12; Gasol 0 Eyebrow. Games played were 42-29 in favour of Jasmine and Jet will be hoping that some of his injured players come back very soon so that he can get back on the winner's list. The best players for Jasmine were D12 198/4, Holiday 169/3 and Hickson 129/4. This round for Jet the leading scorers were Henson 152/4, Hayward 146/4 and Conley 109/3.

<p style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-variant: normal; line-height: 18px;]Firstly, a thanks toK'noath who has kicked of our 2014 previews in absolute style.
<p style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-variant: normal; line-height: 18px;]Just a quick note, this was written before the Sammy Mitchell, Luke Hodge M/D was leaked, which really makes him a must have. Perhaps not a must have starter, but certainly a pick up in the year. - walesy
The year 2013 saw Hawthorn as the premiers after a super-solid season that only saw three losses including two at the hands of Geelong. The Hawks are a formidable side that hunt in packs and spread the game-day load very well across the whole team. As a result though only GWS and Melbourne had less players with a 100pt SC average than Hawthorn in 2013, which might come as a surprise to some. Only Sam Mitchell broke the ton average for the year. Players such as Franklin, Birchall. Lewis and Hodge all had SC years down on previous bests. Can Hawthorn's guns return to their previous scoring heights? Will it be a premium breakout year for the likes of Isaac Smith, or Gunston? Can returning injured players like Suckling return to their high scoring potential. Here is how I break down Hawthorn's list for 2014...
The dependable (SC Guns):
Jarryd Roughead - 98.50 - (RUC/FWD):
Lived up to expectations for those that had him for 2013. His versatility on the field ensures hotouts, possessions, marks and goals meaning plenty of SC points. His versatility as a MPP in this game is just as important. A must have in most SC teams for 2014.
Sam Mitchell - 104.19 (MID):
The highest SC scorer for the Hawks in a premiership year. Sure, Creepy Crowley kept...

King of Karlos (3-2) 1494 v Too Seriouseses (3-2) 1450
Both teams had huge days on the last day of this matchup but thanks to Durantula racking up 126 points by himself, Karlos was able to claim the win over Walesy. Games played were in favour of Walesy by 46 to 41 so this was a big win for Karlos. Durant was the best player for Karlos with (220/3), next best were Hill (175/4) and Parsons (168/4). The leading scorers for Walesy were George (223/4), Bargnani (188/4) and Green (146/4). Both teams now have a record of 3-2 and will be looking to get another win next round to keep pace with the top teams in the league.
Wade Machine (4-1) 1611 v Ruddy's Cavaliers (0-5) 1336
An unbelievable score by Wade Machine this round considering he only played 39 games. His average points per player over the round was 41.5.
