Cox v. Gold Coast

Rd 14 2012: 134 SC points, 19 disposals, 27 hitouts

Rd 11 2011: 166 SC points, 26 disposals, 28 hitouts

Average is 150 SC points with 23 disposals and 28 hitouts.

Note: Fantastic record against Gold Coast. He should have another good game against them this week due to their ruckmen injury issues. He is in terrible form at the moment with recent 90, 70, 70 and 83 (average of 78). After averaging 119 in his first six games of the season, he has only averaged 95 in the 11 games since.

Rd 7 2007: 106 SC points, 23 disposals

Note: Fantastic record against West Coast except for one poor game last year. Has been tagged by Scott Selwood in his past four games against the Eagles. Scored 116 last week after scoring 178, 120 and 115 in the weeks prior (average of 132).

As the finals edge ever closer a lot of important decisions will be made over the coming weeks and will likely have a large part in determining league and overall winners. With not many new rookies coming in and a fair few premiums dropping off it's getting harder by the week to find good options, and that's what the Best Buys is for.
<p style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14.399999618530273px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 14.399999618530273px;]The Best Buy this week is Dayne Beams from Collingwood. After missing the majority of the year with a re-occurring injury he has made his way back and burst his bubble with a price drop, making him not only a POD but a reasonably cheap one on potential as well. The price drop was mainly due to his opening score of 88, but the two 130+ scores since will certainly reverse his price drop fairly quickly.

DEFENSE
MID-PRICERS

Heath Shaw (COL) DEF 499.9k 103
Heater is back in the Best Buys again, and even though he's untrustworthy and a bit of a douche unfortunately he remains one of the better defenders. Priced at almost 500 grand on the dot and averaging 103 he always has the potential to go big, or go home with a brain-fade. Well backed so far with 85,000 selections.

Robert Murphy (WBD) DEF 485.2k 99
Bob Murphy continues on his recent run of good form, bringing his average for the year up to 99 and his price to 485 grand. Only 5,000 picks to date gives him great POD value, and the dogs run home isn't the hardest...

If you are suggesting a complete multi bet then put all legs in the same comment, and it would be good if you can also add the total value of the multi.

It wasn't really a superstar performance from the donors in round 18, with only 2007 points coming our way. This placed us at 131,236 for the round, and saw our overall ranking slide to 25,394. Making matters worse, we only won one of our five leagues, although we're quite well entrenched in the top four in all bar one of our leagues.

The team breakdown for round 18 is as follows:

Backmen:
Heppell 99
Gibbs 96
Goddard 92
Ibbotson 58
Clisby 51

Midfielders:
Selwood 151
Ablett 116 VC
T Mitchell 106
Griffen 102
Cotchin 99
Pendlebury 92 Captain 184
JP Kennedy 82
Vlastuin 67

Rucks:
Cox 90
Nicholls 36

Forwards:
Johnson 120
Franklin 119
Rockliff 111
Westhoff 89
JJ Kennedy 79
Staker 60

Bench:
Hanley
Thurlow
Webster 59
Dangerfield
Martin
Rowe 26
Currie
Zorko 89
Naitanui

The most noticeable thing with the team this week is that we only had 21 scoring players, because in all the confusion I messed up and left Hanley onfield and Webster on the pine. There's an instant 59 missed points!

The next thing was our midfield. After putting the VC on Gazza, and watching him only&amp;rdquo; pump out 116 points, we thought it best to give Pendles a crack at the captaincy (against GWS), as did many coaches this week. We then watched on as he promptly choked his way to 92 points, a long way short of our top-scoring Duckwood on 151 points. No missed points on the pine, but still a potential 24 if we stuck with Gazza, or 59 is we took the plunge on Joel.

In the ruck division we were hampered by NicNat, and then killed off by the Nicholls injury. Funnily enough though, our bench cover in Rowe scored even less, so there were no potential missed points here, just disappointment.

With the great run of super-sub Staker recently, and the poor form of both Rocky and Zorko in the same Vossy team and the same Vossy time, we gave Staker a shot over Zorko, which...
Last season, this round ended up causing quite a bit of controversy, with Chels appointing Chelsea Roffey to be goal umpire in Waikickamoocow's match against Gariwerd, in severe breach of her contract with Whitsundays. We had hoped to be able to fly her around to all the ORFFA games for this round; however with TiB refusing to release her for such duties the FIXture committee arranged for Whitsundays to play Waikickamoocow in this round so that she should be able to be present for Chels this year without any worries.

The match between the Warriors and the Cows went right down to the wire and there was a bonfire around the tuckerbox in Gundagai. Read on for the match report and more:

Waikikamoocow Incorrigibles (1231) defeated Whitsunday Warriors (1223)
It was venison with juniper berry sauce and corned beef sandwiches all round in Ekatahuna, washed down with some quality Pinot. The warriors back line was abysmal this week with Trengove (45), Morris (28), M. Talia (42), A. Hall (OOP 48) all too busy perving at Chelsea in the goal square to worry about the ball. Teen Wolf Nat Fyfe (131) and son-of-a-gun Mitchell (106) fought valiantly for the home team against the Warriors midfield Juggernaut (that's right, I'm calling it a juggernaut!) of Sloane (122), Barlow (115), Boak (105), Gibson (100). How the team from FNQ didn't win this has the locals stumped, but also pondering head honcho chels' selection policy and skills as the Waikicks narrowly avoided consecutive home losses. Questions such as why were Crouch (100) and JPod (82) not on the park while Jamie Elliott gets 40 from a quarter of footy were being asked in between tastings being rifled into the spittoon. In the end the Cows fell over the line in another close one, not helped by a rather potato-esque 57 from Sauce Jacobs

Wagga Wagga Wombats (1247) drew with Venus Bay Vultures (1247)
The battle between 8th and 9th was meant to go a long way to determining the final 8 for ORFFA this...

<p style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 18px;]Alright, instead of doing a review this week, I wanted to start up a discussion about next year.
<p style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 18px;]Why now? Well, right now, 2013 is still well fresh on our minds. Those reasons that we've thrown around in our heads are still up and about and we can get the ideas down now- while they are fresh, rather than rocking up in 6 months time, thoughts well rusted and lessons unlearnt.
<p style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 18px;]I'll go first.
<p style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 18px;]There's a handful of categories that I want to go over. Firstly, players who just seem down purely on form and could be value next year based on that alone. Next, injuries definitely player their part. Sub effects get a ring, as do players who haven't played (and thus a sizable discount).
<p style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 18px;]Finally, the GWS. Last year, the Suns 'went backwards' as well. I feel that there will be a mass of mid-pricers and general price rises in the Giants next year.
Form
<div>

Lance Franklin
Easy one. Whether he goes to the Giants next year or not, he'll be 25% cheaper next year and well underpriced for what he can do.
JP Kennedy
Seems to have copped more attention this year, and what he's lost has gone to a few of the other Swans midfielders in Jack and Hannebery. Still, he'll be very reasonably priced for what we know he can put out in an absolute gun team.
