ORFFA Round 15 – Bad Hair Round.
There were plenty of upsets in the AFL this week, but not very many in the ORFFA where most of the season defining matchups went the way of the favourite.
Warriors 1073 defeated by the Codpieces 1194

The Cods continue their late season run whilst the Warriors stumbled to their 3rd loss in the last 4 rounds. Nett result had both teams hold their respective ladder positions.
For the Warriors JJ (Mr Bad hair himself) had a shocker with 36, Cameron belted out 134, Harmes managed 107 but the rest of the team mostly stayed out of his way, Callum Brown gets the coaches encouragement award.
For the Cods Macrae (120) and Darling (125) starred, Hunter Clark stuck his hand up to join the Misfits this offseason and Harbrow stunk.
Next up the Cods face a very unimposing task away against the Misfires whilst the Warriors visit the land of the Wombats in what should be a close if uninspiring contest.
Lilacs 1245 defeat the Wombats 1021

Lilacs move within a game of the 8, and with a healthy points for will have genuine hopes of getting there, the Wombats run at finals has hit a hurdle with 2 losses on the trot and with only 2 rounds to go it’s now a bridge too far.
For the Lilacs Duncan (123) and Amon (102) looked impressive but it was more the fact that they had only one score under 60 that saw them run out easy winners, Gibbons onfield would have given him the RS nod this week, but being mostly shit for 16 games meant Bolton stole his thunder, nice little tabby that one..
The Wombats also had 2 tons, BSmith (127) went 50% over his average to prove what he is capable of whilst highlighting his savage Std Dev in the same play, Ed Curnow (116) is clearly in love with Teague and playing at the level he always seemed capable of, the rest, well mostly they arrived on time and...

Well, an interesting weekend - personally I got screwed over by the late Hurn out.. Had Logue available as cover but had already loopholed him to take Brodie Smith's score off the bench... oh well, sometimes I think I actually cost myself more points by trying to be too clever..

While the Eagles fell to the Magpies last Friday night in a Grand Final rematch, the reigning premiers are set to be big players down the stretch of the home and away season.
And the race to September is as close as it’s ever been, with just three wins separating second and 10th. The fight for those final couple of top eight spots is going to go down right down to the wire, and picking who will make the cut from here is near impossible. But there are two teams leading the premiership race as it sits.
West Coast and Richmond
Two of the form teams of the competition and the sides you wouldn’t want to run into for the rest of the home and away season are the last two premiers.
Punters are jumping on these teams and you can understand why. Prior to their loss to Collingwood, West Coast were considered the frontrunners to win the flag, even ahead of the ladder-leading Cats. Having won three of their last four and boasting one of the smallest injury lists in the competition, there is a lot to like about the Eagles’ chances of going back-to-back.
The Tigers endured their horror injury toll earlier in the season and are basically back to full strength now, other than the absence of Alex Rance, who was always expected to miss the remainder of 2019.
We are witnessing the impact of Richmond getting all their stars back, having won three in a row and looking like their undefeatable self from the back half of 2017. Punters are identifying this transformation and even bookies that have free bet offers are saying the same thing. While Geelong and Collingwood shouldn’t be discounted, it feels like the Eagles and Tigers are gathering momentum at the right time of the year.

Warriors avoid the hattrick of losses on the trot to get the season back on track, taking out one of the biggest threats to their top 8 spot in the process. Five tons for @TerryinBangkok ‘s crew including a 160 from Robbie Tarrant was enough to get the job done, but a 7 from JJK and a 48 from Johannisen shows that there is plenty of room for improvement. For @Jen ‘s beloved Lilacs seven scores over 90 show the team is not as brittle as Darcy Moore’s hamstrings, which again went twang leaving him with a shitty 13, and a lengthy stint on the...

Whitsunday Warriors 1102 def by Cradle Mountain Devils 1376
Comfortable win for the Devils as the Warriors post-bye struggles continue. Things are ticking along nicely for the Devils who have arrived at 12-1 with minimal fuss. Even Heppell’s late out barely caused a ripple as Zaharakis (112) provided more than adequate cover on short notice, while Marshall (126) and Himmelberg (122) dominated up forward. Two late outs in the form of Boak and JJK certainly didn’t help the Warriors cause. Motlop stepped in to provide some cover for that pair, but Harmes (119) and Wines (109) needed a bit more help from their mates.
Foul Bay Chickens 1375 def Lovely Banks Lilacs 1340
The clear game of the round and the Chooks best win of the year according to their coach. With the challenge thrown down by the Lilacs, monster scores from Goldy (148) and Danger (146), backed up by Shepherd (131) and Ziebell (126), reminded us that there’s still life in these old Chooks yet. Recent addition Murphy seems refreshed by the move to the Bay. Normally six tons and 1300+ would get you a win but sometimes in this caper you’re just shit unlucky and, unfortunately for the Lilacs, that’s their lot this week. Heeney (134) led the way for the Lilacs and Jen would also have been pleased with the Hoff (125) finding some form and even more so with one out of nowhere from late in Bolton (122).
Gundagai Grasshoppers 1334 def Iron Knob Codpieces 1224
The Hoppers got the win they needed to end their 3 game losing streak and keep themselves a game clear in 4th. Neale, Oliver, Grundy and Billings all went past 140 to put the game out of reach for the Cods. Riding a three game winning streak, Jimbo’s boys didn’t do a lot wrong as evidenced by the six tons, but down days from Henderson...
