For those who take it way too seriously

Regular TS contributor,[span style='font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 18px; background-color: #ffffff; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;]TigersTooToughtakes a retrospective look at the season so far. Love ya work.

A third of the way through the AFL season and SuperCoach has already provided some obstacles for the serious player. Carnage in defence has struck over the past 3 weeks while our premium midfielders have had some low scores. In an AFL sense, Hawthorn and Geelong have been supreme while GWS and Melbourne have stunk it up. This is accurately reflected in SC scoring too. This isn't the case with all clubs. West Coast has had an indifferent start but have had some solid scorers while the same can be said for North Melbourne. How has each club really fared so far this season SuperCoach wise and which players have reflected their clubs? That's what I'll be trying to work through here.

Part 1 will review Adelaide, Brisbane, Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon and Fremantle and there will be the rest of the competition spread over the next couple of days. Each club has aSuperCoach SuperStar(not necessarily the leading scorer but the player that has been the most consistent and high scoring), aBolter(player scoring better than most would have thought) and aDisappointment(someone who hasn't come on as well as we would have liked).I'll be doing one of these reviews after every third” of the season to show who is the real deal and who may not be. For now, let's jump in!

Adelaide (4 wins 4 losses)
SuperCoach SuperStar:Scott Thompson (avg 108.63)
Bolter:Richard Douglas (avg 106.63)
Disappointment:Taylor Walker (avg 69.2)

All serious SuperCoaches will have that gut feel on a spread of players they feel may break out. I had about 7 or 8 on my mind. I selected a few of them in my squad. Some have paid off well, while others have just spudded...

Wagga Wagga Wombats 1295 d Larrikin Lagoon Lefties 1267
The showcase match turned out to be (arguably) the match of the round, with Scotland, Curnow and Saad playing hard late in the game to try and steal a comeback win for the Lefties. Unfortunately the Wombats' lead was too great with the Lefties falling short by 28 points. Carrazzo's late withdrawal, had the Lefties coach fuming with no emergency named. Bad luck can only be blamed for so much at the Lagoon, and the author feels that poor team/emerg selection cost the Lefties on this occasion.
Some stellar performances from Reilly (120), Prestia (124) and Schulz (126) set a solid platform for the Wombats, despite the loss of Clarke and Hunt (emerg) mid game. Workman-like Wombats have officially emerged from underground as they continue to monster their way up the ladder.

Birdsville Battlers 1126 d Gundagai Grasshoppers 577
In what can only be described as the worst case of bad luck in keeper league history, the Grasshppers have been crippled beyond belief by injury. With only 7 fit players showing up for the bounce, more salt was poured into the wound with Jono Griffin going down with an ACL. Rocky (153) and Dwyer (99) battled gainfully up forward but the supply from a depleted mid was limited.
Unbackable favourite to win this match, Birdsville were led strongly by Fisher (109) and Houli (104) in Def and McEvoy (140) in Ruck. All did not sparkle for the Battlers though, with their midfield noticeably down and finishing with a score 200 points shy of their average in the lead up to this game.
NB: would the owner of the Grasshopper voodoo doll please remove the pins, I think sNoZ gets the idea.

Gariwerd Cockies 1294 d Cradle Mountain Devils 1128
With the Cockies running into some nice form, this mid table clash was set to be a tight tussle. A monster performance from Deledio (163) got Gariwerd off to a flier, with young Zac Smith (140) playing the game...
Welcome again to the Best Buys. The past week of SuperCoach has seen a variety of new injuries, big games and poor efforts from popular players, and is now looking to be a trend this season causing many coaches a whole lot of headaches. We also saw some events taking place that are starting to look all too familiar; such as Buddy playing another ‘Travis Cloke 2012'-like performance, Nick Riewoldt once again turning back the clock to put in a big game, Heater getting suspended for stupidity, a bunch of guys doing their knee's, and Matt Priddis dropping considerably in price due to an early injury game.

Which brings me nicely to this week's Best Buy, Matt Priddis. Priddis is a consistent workhorse who is generally reliable, except for his habit of getting injured early in the season allowing everyone to bring him in cheaply, and has been a solid fantasy performer for years. Don't let the 91 average fool you, when he doesn't get injured during the game he's usually good for a 110.

Will Sierakowski (NM) DEF 115.9k 53 +39k
Sierakowski has been on the fringe at North for a while now, impressing in their Utah camp in the 2012 pre-season he has been performing solidly at VFL since. Averaging 53 in his first two games at the top level he hasn't been incredible yet, but is still certainly worth a look as a rookieon the bubble this week.

MID-PRICERS

Garrick Ibbotson (FRE) DEF 426k 106
Ibbotson, when he has actually played, has looked great this year. Averaging 106 for the Dockers he is in good form but questions remain around his consistency. Ibbo will likely rise almost 40 grand this week, if he hits his average, and being in under 2,000 teams currently he is a certain...
