For those who take it way too seriously
The race for the top of the ORFFA ladder tightened during Round 5 action, with the league's only two previously unbeaten teams - Birdsville and Iron Knob - both suffering defeats.
Foul Bay 1342 d Birdsville 1313
Late game heroics from Brent Moloney and Daniel Wells were not enough to haul Birdsville to a victory, with the Chickens scoring a 29 point win.
Entering the last set of matches narrowly behind, the Battlers would not have had much confidence in notching a win given they had one fewer player left on the park. However Brent Moloney's 127 saw Birdsville actually almost entirely close the gap going into the last match-up.
Ultimately though the Chickens' pair of Roughead and Adams steadied and did enough to thwart Daniel Wells' 125.
Moloney and Wells were the Battlers' top scorers, while Foul Bay got great contributions from JJK (124), McLean (126) and Bartel (109).
Mt Beauty 1414 d Iron Knob 1244
A stunning effort from the Uglies has seen it knock off the high-flying Codpieces by 170 points.
Mt Beauty rode a wave of Richmond-inspired high scoring, led by Trent Cotchin (144). Hartlett, Sidebottom, Brandon Ellis, Rioli, Dusty and the Berger all topped the ton as well in a formidable display.
For Iron Knob, Ablett did his job with 160 but didn't receive enough support - only Shuey, Goldstein, the surprising Richard Douglas and Big Will Minson scoring 100+. The Codpieces' young forwards in Jacky R, Darling and Breust were disappointing.
The only sour note for Mt Beauty is the long-term injury to Cyril Rioli, who will be out of the game for the best part of 2 months.
Wakikamoocow 1264 d Charlie's Opening 1262
The thriller of the round was taken out by the mob from across the Tasman, with the Incorrigibles emerging with a 2 point victory over the Spelunkers.
A close, hard-fought match throughout the weekend culminated in a Drew Petrie/Andrew Swallow v Isaac Smith match-up in the late stages of the game. And despite the...

take a close look at how each ground effects DT Scoring. Remember, when reading, that it's DT based. And always, if you like what you read, check out their site, orgive em a like on facebook.
There are so many variables that influence Dream Team scoring, and this article attempts to break down the effect of location, using every regular season game from Round 1 in 2008 to Round 4 in 2013.
First things first - there is a degree of chicken and egg to this. It isn't easy to separate the overall scoring in the game between the teams involved, the conditions on the day, or where the game is played. That said, we'll soldier on with the facts and work through a few conclusions from what they show us.
Additionally, one thing to remember about the data in the previous tables is that it is based on all regular season games from 2008 to 2013 - so each AFL team may not be at the same DT scoring level that they were at the beginning of the time period.
I've highlighted 7 of the venues as at this stage there haven't really been enough games yet to be certain just how they will settle long term. In addition, many of these are typical neutral games” or venues such as Skoda where an expansion team has played every game and thus the averaged are skewed.
The first thing to notice is the highest scoring venues overall - Skilled, Aurora & Etihad. But clearly, one of those three is not like the other. Whereas at Skilled and Aurora the overall scoring levels are driven largely by the efforts of Geelong and Hawthorn respectively, Etihad has a variety of...

Things are heating up and we're heading well into upgrade territory. Couple of big scores this week from rookies, combines with a couple of low ones should help with those upgrades.
Reckon Priddis will be in everyones team in a few weeks? And how's everyone backline gunna hold up next week? Gibbs and Goodes both looking to miss it, and those backline Port rookies aren't quite as reliable as they have been. (Let alone Luke Brown and Docherty being there!)
Essendon vs Collingwood
Result: Essendon by 46
93,373 people, the third largest home and away crowd ever, saw Essenddon take on the Pies. It was a arm wrestle of a match early, with Essendon constantly pulling away, then Collingwood pulling it back. Even third quarter which saw the Bombers open with 4 straight goals, were responded with 3 from Collingwood.
The final term however, though it opened with 2 goals from Collingwood, was put well out of reach as Essendon stormed home kicking 6 goals to just 1.
Leading the way for Essendon was the ANZAC day specialist, David Zaharakis. He put out a best on ground performance with 34 disposals, 14 of which were contested, 4 goals, 1 behind and 140SC points. Truely a match winning performance.
Also at the pointy end, as he always is, was Jobe Watson who had 31 of his own touches, kicked 2.1 and 126SC. Meanwhile, Jason Winderlich in just his second game for the year, picked up 19 touches, kicked 3.1 and a mighty 123SC.

<p style='text-align: justify;]I know that the loophole has been mentioned before, but I will do it again for the sake of completeness You can change your captain and vice captain as often as you like, prior to the start of the round and during a round and Rolling Lockout, up until the time that your currently selected captain's (or vice captain's) match has started. At this point, your selection is locked in for the round and cannot be changed.”
<p style='text-align: justify;]
<p style='text-align: justify;]Many of us have Ablett in our teams. The question is whether we give another player (who plays in a game that is completed before Ablett's game commences) the vice captaincy with the view of keeping this player's score as our captain's” score should this player score big. If this player scores big, we simply take the captaincy off Ablett and, instead, put the captaincy onto a non-playing player for the rest of the round.
<p style='text-align: justify;]
<p style='text-align: justify;]Alternatively, if our vice captain scores poorly, we can rely on our back up” plan and retain Ablett as our captain.
<p style='text-align: justify;]
<p style='text-align: justify;]Ant's write up highlighted the importance of timing and, in particular, the importance of having a non-playing player who plays in the late games of the round.

Cheerable Charlie didn't get a mention last week as his injury status was still unkown, but after playing and tonning up once again he looks to be unimpeded. Playing the Giants this weekend, who don't exactly have the best ruck or defense going around, Dixon should score well once again for his sub 20,000 coaches.
Hamish Hartlett (PTA) D/M 489.6k 106
Hartlett bounced back in a good display, and at still under 500 grand he still looks to offer good value in the backline. Might not average the 120 some were hoping for, but should still be 100+. Currently in almost 40,000 teams.

As we venture towards Round 5 of the ORFFA season, a divide is starting to open up in the ladder - and in teams' fortunes. While the door for spots in the top half of the ladder remains well ajar, there are quite a few teams already casting a longing eye towards the mid-season draft.
Onwards with the Round 4 review:
Wagga Wagga 1284 d Gundagai 845
Wagga best: S Thompson. Goddard, Shiel, L Thomas
Gundagai best: B Goodes, ROK, Rockliff.
Wagga continues its fine start to the ORFFA season while the Grasshoppers, hurt by late withdrawals, hope for a change of luck and fitness.
Nunawading 1134 d Darraweit Guim 1107
Nunawading best: Stanton. Dixon, OMeara
Darraweit best: Walker, Maric, Walters/Grimes
A stunning win for the Nuffas, one player short and still able to overcome the Guim. OMeara paying his way as the Guim struggle to find form and fit players.
Whitsundays 1187 d Larrikin Lagoon 1171
Whits best: Birchall, Sloane
Lefties best: S Selwood, Bailey, Priddis
Grant Birchall inspires the Whits to a win over the luckless Lefties, who have lost three close games to go along with their one win.
Waikikamoocow 1355 d Powlett Plains 1175
Waikiks best: The Hoff, Taylor, Hibberd,
Powlett best: K Cornes, Buddy, Scully
The Warriors bring Powlett Plains' unbeaten run to an end. Both teams enjoying solid output from Port stars Cornes and The Hoff.
Foul Bay 1360 d Charlie's Opening 1337
Chickens' best: J Selwood, Liberatore, Yarran
Opening's best: Jack, The Frenchman, The Dish
Another close one, with the Chickens emerging victorious. Both teams enjoying a great scoring run this week.
Birdsville 1285 d Gariwerd 1215
Birdsville best: Cloke, Cloke, Cloke
