For those who take it way too seriously

Im just gunna post this in its full, cause for mine, its a cause we should all be supporting. So <a href="http://www.change.org/petitions/i-ve-experienced-homophobia-in-aussie-rules-football-first-hand-now-it-s-time-to-end-it?alert_id=UcjfUHNUjY_wrSqlAJCvL&utm_campaign=10454&utm_medium=email&utm_source=action_alert#">follow this link a show your support.

This is a terrifying petition to write. But it&rsquo;s important. I&rsquo;d like to tell you what it&rsquo;s like being a gay footy player, because today there&rsquo;s a real chance we could begin to change the culture of homophobia in the AFL.
I&rsquo;ve played amateur footy every season since I was five - almost all in the Yarra Valley league. I was raised in a household that lives and breathes the game. But when I realised I was gay the idea that my teammates might find out was terrifying.
It&rsquo;s a blokey culture -- and gay slurs are a regular part of games and training.&nbsp; It&rsquo;s a horrible reminder that you&rsquo;re different, reviled and unwelcome. It felt like the footy club would be the one place I could never come out.&nbsp;Whether it&rsquo;s intentional or not, the reality is that the culture of the AFL is hostile to fans and players like me.
Young gay people are up to 6 times more likely to be depressed, to self harm, or to contemplate suicide. I was 12 when I realised I might be gay, and footy was my life. It was a really hard time for me and if I had known of positive gay role models in society, in football, it would have made a world of difference.&nbsp;
The AFL has done amazing work tackling racism -- now it&rsquo;s time for the AFL to take real and substantive action to build a culture where people like me are welcomed and supported - and where homophobia is simply not acceptable.
Last week, the AFL issued a statement saying it supported the <a href="http://www.notohomophobia.com.au" target="_blank">No to Homophobia campaign&nbsp;(<a...
Hi all, I thought about having a free week due to the internationals but its only three weeks into the season and nobody needs a free week three weeks into the season right...well apart from Corey Enright that is. The transfer window is now closed and Im going to cover all the relevant transfers. Make no bones about it theres plenty of meat to this one, so Im gonna cut it into two articles(Ill post the second part later in the week). Ive posted the current price in FPL of each player next to their name  so Hazard is at his current price of  9.5...sorry...9.8...I mean 10.1. Join me over the break.... <!--more-->

Arsenal

In
Santi Cazorla (Malaga)
Olivier Giroud (Montpellier) Undisclosed
Lukas Podolski (Cologne) Undisclosed

Santi Cazorla(9mil) is looking a class act, someone who can be the natural replacement for  Cesc and the heartbeat of this Arsenal team. He has already set up his forwards with 11 goal-scoring opportunities due to his sublime passing and has demonstrated  some excellent long range shooting.   If RVP’s replacements can find their shooting boots then expect some big returns from this gem.

Lukas Podolski (8.4) is a proven performer with 44goals in 101 caps for Germany. Last year for Cologne he scored 18 goals in 29 league games.  That’s prolific looking stats.  Can play as a central striker or on the left and has done both already for Arsenal. Olivier Giroud(8.8) comes from the French league and will be hoping to have more of an impact than previous Ligue1 signings Chamakh &amp; Gervinho who will be competing for the CF place in Arsenal’s team, the  jury is still out.

Steve Bould- OK we cant pick him up but he is the signing Arsenal have been crying out for for years. They actually now look like they know how to defend. Jenkinson, Mertesacker &amp; Mannone have come in and we’ll get a better idea next week if they’re keeping their spots  as Koscielney &amp; Szczesny return to fitness. Sagna isn’t too far off either....
Hey hey, now that the fantasy stuff is done and dusted, we can sit back and enjoy football the way it used to be enjoyed.

Wait no, no we cant. Cause weve probably gotten involved with fantasy comps and will be <a href="http://tooserious.net/live_scores.php?page=gameday&id=10251181&process=live">Joining in that live chat like any other week!

:D

Also, I gotta point out that ad up the top there. Betstar $2 favorites are back, and they are always great value if you can get on em. :D
The season tips off on October 30th, which sounds like a while, but theres a fair bit to get organised between now and then to get our fantasy leagues set up, so we gotta get moving.

After a couple of years doing most of the organising for these leagues, Im gonna take a step back this season and Steve has been kind enough to step up and take over the reigns. Hell be assigned as a LM in all 3 leagues to set them up the same etc and hell be writing the Premier League reviews for us too.

Stowie will be writing the Div 1 reviews each matchup; however we are looking for someone to do the Div2 writeups, so if anyone is keen, get in touch with Steve or I.

This will just be a quick writeup today. Just want to see what sort of interest there is from last years participants, so we can arrange who is in which league, before we set up drafts etc.

I also want to say, before we head over the break, Can everyone please drop all the players from your rosters so that we can start afresh for our drafts.

Now, over the break will be lists of who should be in each league and whether they have confirmed or not. If you played here last season, please notify us in the comments if youre gonna play again this season; and if you didnt play last year, but want to this season, please let us know here as well and you can be emergencies :)

So, here are the players that are to be promoted or relegated from their 2012 leagues:

Firstly, the players being promoted from Div2 to Div1 are:  <a title="Team Travysboys (travis hewish)" href="http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?leagueId=10201&amp;teamId=9&amp;seasonId=2012" target="_top">Team Travysboys (travyboy11), <a title="Team Farken White (Chris Farken White)" href="http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?leagueId=10201&amp;teamId=7&amp;seasonId=2012" target="_top">Team Farken White (Jet), <a title="Team 726 (Sam Lee)"...
We may not have the odds on most votes per team, or even know if we can multi them...but we do have the votes :)

Over the next month or two we will have a season review for each club from a supercoach perspective. They will include The Good, The Bad &amp; The Ugly and will also include a small watchlist of players to keep an eye out for heading into season 2013. These will be written by fans of each club and if you are interested in writing one for your own club then let us know!

Almost 12 months ago Ross Lyon claimed it was an end of an era at Saints and sent shock through entire AFL world when he walked out on club and took over reigns at Fremantle. The Saints appointed Scott Watters and all the “experts” predicted the Saints would fall down to bottom part of the ladder as they had no youth coming through. Fast forward and Saints have finished in 9th place but have won the same amount games as they did in 2012 (technically a draw worse off) yet last year they finished in 6th position.

If you ask most people they’d say the Saints have actually taken a few steps forward, despite missing finals. In 2012 StKilda had 6 players debut for the club and a got much needed games into further 5 players who had played less than 10 games.

The likes of Jack Newnes, Arryn Siposs, Rhys Stanley, Sam Dunell, Ahmed Saad and Terry Milera all showed glimpses of what they can do and all will become key parts to Saints success moving forward and all will become fantasy relevant in next couple years.

There really wasn’t much to get excited about from the Saints in Supercoach this year, but with amount of kids blooded and with getting more games into likes of McEvoy, Geary, Armitage, Steven then next year or next couple years we could have some great fantasy relevant players again.

Join us over the break for The Good, The Bad &amp; The Ugly.

THE GOOD

Lenny Hayes

2012 Average:  102.5 (up from 86.5 in 2011)

2013 Predicted Price: $550K

In 2012 Lenny played 22 games and averaged 24.5 disposals (10.8 contested) at 72% efficiency, 3.2 marks, 5.9...
Its been a hell of a ride this year for the donors, and unfortunately it came to an end on a rather poor note. We scored a measly 2143 points for round 23, which placed us at 89,252 for the round, and a final placing of 21,414 for season 2012 - a far cry from our top 100 target!!!

We had three league finals this week, taking home only one of them, but it was the winners league that we won, which was nice.

Join me over the break for the final team review of the year.<!--more-->

Its served us well for the last 22 weeks, so why change the routine? Heres the breakdown of the donor team for round 23.

Deledio DEF 100
Scotland DEF 78
Goddard DEF 85
Shaw DEF 79
Lake DEF 47
Yarran DEF 20
Shaw DEF 43 (e)
Ablett MID 122 captain 244
Kennedy MID 105
Selwood MID 111
Mitchell MID 121
Pendlebury MID 125
Priddis MID 86
Cox RUC 81
Roughead RUC 106
Dangerfield FWD 169
Sidebottom FWD 73
Riewoldt FWD 119
Franklin FWD 112
Martin FWD 19
Goodes FWD 69
Fyfe FWD 151

Carrazzo DEF 0
Darley DEF 0
Gibson MID 100
Sexton MID 0
Campbell RUC 75
Pattison RUC 0
Adams FWD 82
Milera FWD 84

As you can see, a bit of a disappointment of a final round, beginning with the backline, where our top scorer was Deledio, on a perfect ton. He was followed by Goddard on 85, H Shaw on 79, and Scotland on 78, meaning all our true premiums had less than premium performances in the final round. There was a big drop back to Lake, next up on 47 points, followed by emergency S Shaw on 43, and finally Yarran on 20 points! On the bench was the late withdrawal of Carrazzo, and Darley, both bringing in donuts. I knew the Blues gave up, but surely with Carrots out, both Scotland and Yarran should have scored a hell of a lot more!

On to the midfield, where Pendlebury lead the way on 125 points, closely followed by Ablett on 122, doubled up as our captain to 244, and closely followed again by Mitchell on 121 points. Selwood was next up on 111 points, then Kennedy on 105, and...
Another week and another clean sheet for Arsenal.  RVP proves again that he’s a bit alright but also that he’s a true Dutchman with a bottled penalty under pressure. And Tevez 2012 remains the polar opposite of the 2011 version. Join me over the break for more..<!--more-->

Southampton v Man Utd 2-3

Rodriguez and Do Prado were on the bench as Lambert again impressed. 1 goal and 1 assist as Schneiderlin scored their other. Puncheon also got an assist.

For Utd, Ferdinand was back from injury and De Gea was benched. Kagawa was quiet before getting replaced just after the hour as was Cleverley. Scholes and Nani came on and instantly Utd looked more menacing.  Ferdinand, Nani and Valencia with the assists.  Rafael was again culpable and when Jones(maybe next game) and Smalling come back then one would think he’ll have an almighty battle to keep his place.

The big story was of course RVP who went from the sublime to the ridiculous back to his default position of sublime. His match winning hat-trick (his fourth since 2011) was completed in the 90th min.

West Ham Utd v Fulham 3-0

The writing was on the wall as soon as 54seconds when Nolan opened the scoring. Reid and Taylor also scored. Vaz  Te and Taylor with the assists. Andy Carroll was exceptional before going off with a hammy which will need to be monitored. Nolan in particular seemed to enjoy having Carroll on board.  A dominant display from the Hammers.

The wind has well and truly been knocked out of Fulham’s sails with the loss of Dembele and Dempsey and getting monstered here. New signing Richardson started as did Rodallega. Berbatov and Kacaniklic were subs.

Newcastle v Villa 1-1

Newcastle haven’t quite got going yet this season and were maybe a bit lucky to grab a point. Pardew admitted after the game that Ba and Cisse are a bit underdone, unlike goalscorer Ben Arfa who has been their best player this season.

Paul Lambert dropped Shay Given who sat on the bench with Agbonlahor and...
YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! YES! WE! CAN!!!!!! WE SHANE TUCKIN' DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Sarah Island Savages have won the 2012 ORFFL Premiership. Like that scene from the end of the 2nd Batman where the little kid asks Commissioner Gordon 'Why are we chasing him?'

SARAH ISLAND SAVAGES1287 DefWARBURTON WANDERERS1261

Figured this review was going to be hard to write either way going into this weekend, needless to say that I'm not going to feel as bad doing a poor job given that I've won; Sarah Island defeating Warburton by 26 points in the inaugural 2012 ORFFL Grand Final.

'Twas a gripping and at time spiteful encounter with Wally's targeting Lachie (4) from the outset, knocking him out; a flow on effect being that FWD Tory Dickson (41) became afraid of going near ball or opposition. Sarah Island's famous Jar claimed early victims in retaliation; the invisible squeeze being applied to Lewis (56) and Hale (71) on Friday night.

The Wanderers picked up 3 tons on Saturday night with Hill (100, f.avg. 99), MJ (129, f.avg. 85) and Sylvia (114, f.avg. 115) saluting, but Sarah island were able to match with century scoring from Taylor (122, .avg. 93),Mundy (132, finals avg. 126),NicNat (109, f.avg. 122)Mayne (108, f.avg. 84), and JPK (105, f.avg. 116).

Going into the final day some 70-odd points in front, the Savages had the Wanderers in the Jar, they just needed to get the lid on and screw it shut. Enter Waite (119, f.avg. 121), rocking like a hurricane and a bunch of lesser lights not sucking too hard to hold on. Griffen (106, f.avg. 129), Player of the ORFFL Finals, made a late charge but couldn't muster enough to get his boys up....
