Sydney 2012 Supercoach Season Review by Sean

The Swans were at the top most of the year not because of a lopsided draw Mick Malthouse, (like Adelaide were) but because they had a team that play and continue to play for each other week in, week out. The late season slide from an injury returning Goodes, and an out of sorts Jetta has turned with the finals, and I believe those two firing will make the difference between the last time we played the Hawks and the match we play them on Saturday. Go you good things!

But it’s the team philosophy that got us there, and from a rock solid back six (by far the best in the game) an unrelenting midfield and a forward line of Reid, LRT and Morton finding their way with the help of Goodes, Mumford, McGlynn and Hannebury – amongst others.

From a Supercoach perspective it was a frustrating year with injuries to the two SC superstars – Goodes and Mumford. But the midfield trio of Jack, Kennedy and ROK repaid their investors with some massive scores.

THE GOOD

Josh P Kennedy – MID - Av 120 - 589,700

A lot has already been said about JPK – but clearly he found another gear this year raising his average a whopping 30 points and into the game’s elite. His work in the finals to date around the stoppages has been outstanding and he will continue to gain plenty of possessions. Would have to be a lock in for next year for many.

Kieran Jack – MID - AVE 112 – 540,200

I keep saying every year that Kizza will be the leading point scorer, and each year he doesn’t quite do it. In spite of an early trip against Freo in Round 2 he found some real consistency and value from round 8 onwards. I love this guy’s skills and attitude, and think he’s a real possibility to go up another level again next year.

Ted Richards – DEF – Ave 78 – 325,200

I mentioned Teddy here last year but thought I’d do it again to celebrate his all Australian form and selection. Best fullback in...

Well, my grand final happened on Monday, but for two lucky teams (and their fans), theres still the big one to come this weekend.

So, lets all huddle around the chat one last time as the grand final teams are released!
Sorry folks, got this one up a bit later than I was hoping. Part of the reason was due to meeting up with some of the TS heavy artillery at Lagerfield on Monday night. And isn’t it great to see that Walesy won himself a few bob on the night (if I’d known that at the time, I might have changed my order to a pint of Glenfiddich instead. Ah well, there’s always next time!). It does make my solitary $5 bet on Jobe to win outright a little pale in comparison, but a win is a win is a win. Right?

Talking of winning makes for a seamless transition over to FEPL, where I can categorically state with complete confidence that I’ve been doing SFA in the way of winning. In fact, I’ve truly sucked the last coupla weeks and my WC will be played. It’s great to see some cracking rankings amongst the TS faithful though, keep up the good work folks! Over the break Ill have the round review...

Swansea v Everton 0-3

Apart from 10mins after HT, Everton absolutely dominated this game. The injured Jelavic was not needed. Pienaar was again excellent while Anichebe and especially Fellaini absolutely monstered the Swansea back-line. Everton had 19 shots on target and Moyes said his team were “exceptional”. They were and with a nice run of fixtures on the horizon, and the excellent form of Fellaini and Pienaar, there doesn’t appear to be any reason why they can’t continue to pick up these types of results.

The impressive Miralles scored as did Anichebe and Fellaini. Baines had an assist as did Fellaini and Pienaar.

Hernandez started for Swansea with Dyer dropping to the bench. That only lasted until HT when Hernandez got hooked. Dyer came on but only lasted 13mins before getting red-carded. This can only be good news for Routledge owners. As for Swansea, this was a wake-up call as they suffered their second poor result and performance in a row.

Chelsea v Stoke 1-0

Chelsea were a bit flat, RDM dropped Terry and Lampard to the bench apparently believing they...
Well, 3 weeks into the season and the leagues are all extremely competitive. A big range of scores this week with a lot of big name fantasy players struggling whilst some huge scores from others. LEAGUE 1 BROUGHT TO YOU BY STOWIE

Show Me Ya TDs (wateman) 81 at Under Achievers (UnderAchievers) 83

Thats three losses in a row for TDs, all of them by single figures. Big scores from WR Green (26fpts) and new starting QB RGIII (24fpts) was not enough to over come UAs spread of nice scores from WR Fitzgerald (17fpts), TE Jared Cook (14fpts) and K Matt Prater (13fpts).

Massillon Tigers (Johnson) 82 at Vicks Dog Fighters (Fez) 107

Fez makes his way back to the winners list thanks to QB Matt Ryan (21fpts) and Texans pair RB Foster (16pts) and WR Johnson (14fpts). For the Tigers, RB Ray Rice (20fpts) and the Falcons D/ST (15fpts) provided decent scores but other big names such as Newton (9fpts), Gore (4fpts) and Witten (0fpts) failed to impress.

Team Wiggles (wiggles) 60 at Team Stowie (stowie) 67

The Packers D/ST (4fpts) and TE Finley (6fpts) did enough during MNF to allow Stowie revenge for last seasons Fantasy Superbowl loss to Wiggles. Not many high scoreres in a defensive battle. One must wonder how many different proposals Wiggles has sent to TDs this week... the number will increase after Vick (6fpts) struggled again.

Adelaide Maggotz (Maggots) 83 at TooSerious TooSeriousesses (walesy) 121

The chief knocked out the biggest score of the week to keep Maggotz winless. RB MJD (25fpts) was in vintage form showing his off season holdout is now a thing of the past. Big Ben (31fpts) and WR Megatron (22fpts) also put up big numbers. Maggotz must feel a touch unlucky after copping a number of injuries before and during Week 3 leaving big red Ps and Qs all over his roster....
Due to overwhelming popularity, it has been decided that the drafts will be held just before the season commences. The first games of the season are on the 31st of October (our time). Therefore I am thinking that we hold the drafts for each league sometime on the weekend of the 27-28th of October or on a weeknight around that time (remember if the draft is held on a weeknight it can’t commence until 10.00pm AEST)

Please read over the break.

Let me know what you think about these dates in the comments below and we should be able to commit to a time to hold the draft/s on. The majority decision for each league will determine when the draft is being held so make sure you send in your thoughts. Remember if you are not available on the day of the draft is being held, you can always set up a pre draft list beforehand.

The leagues and conferences within each league have been finalised. It has been decided that the following schedule will apply this season:

Each team will play all teams in their conference twice.

Each team will play all teams in the other conference once.

In the playoffs, the top 2 have a bye in the first week, 3rd ranked team will play the 6th ranked team and 4th ranked team will play the 5th ranked team. The winner of each of these finals will then play the one of the top 2 teams in the semi finals. The 2 winners of the semi finals will then meet in the grand final. Each round of the finals is for a duration of one week.

Unfortunately the ESPN fantasy basketball site does not allow for different lengths for each round of the finals so we will not able to implement the suggestion put forward by Under Achievers. His suggestion was to have one week for the first round of the finals and then 2 weeks for both the semi finals and grand final.

In the next few days, I will get around to setting up the random draft order for each league (all cash bribes will be gratefully accepted). I will post the draft order for each...
Well, since the chiefs out and about enjoying some Brownlow drinks at the Lagerfeld at Crown, I figured I might as well put something up here. For many of us here at TS the Brownlow is one of the bigger punting events of the year, and with some juicy odds being found this year Im sure it will be no different.

I have no idea how to create a new chatbox or the like, so instead follow the link to the game-day chat from last week where Im sure at least a few people will be congregating to enjoy the nights festivities. Feel free to drop in, or comment here, and let us know who youve gone for!
UPDATED: We are lucky to have not one review but two! Thanks to port_leschenaultand Hawks2008 for sending in their reviews on the Hawks.

Hawthorn Review By Hawks2008

Well 2012 has been a mostly very enjoyable year as a Hawks fan, a year that has seen the club finally live up to the hype and expectations placed on it in the pre season. Hawthorns campaign got off too a rocky start, seeing narrow losses to Geelong and West Coast in the first few weeks, followed by embarrassing defeats at the hands of the Swans and Tigers, prompting many (including myself) to wonder if this group would ever really live up to their true potential. Since that loss to Richmond in round 9 however, the club has gone 12 – 1 and in turn secured its first minor premiership in 23 years. As we know though, finishing first on the ladder means nothing if you cant lift the cup at the end of the year, so here’s hoping the boys salute on the last day in September!

Here’s a look at the good, the bad and the ones to watch for Hawthorn players from a Supercoach perspective.

THE GOOD

Buddy Franklin

Average: 116

2013 price: $613,536

I know, I know, he burned many of us throughout the latter stages of SC this year, when a one week niggle turned into a car crash, a tummy ache and a countless amount of rumours that left us wishing we had of traded the big budwah weeks ago. But the numbers don’t lie in fantasy footy and for a key forward, they don’t get much better. Buddy averaged the third highest points of any forward this year, behind only Dangerfield and Beams. On 10 of the 16 occasions he managed to don the brown and gold, he cracked the ton (including a solid 112 in the grand final), also managing two 89’s and a 99. And of course, who could forget that awe inspiring effort against North in Tassie were Lance bagged 13 goals and a mammoth score of 236, the highest by any player this year. I...

LEAGUE 2 REVIEW BY KARLOS

This was an ugly matchup from start to finish with Team Coleman once again struggling to find players who can score in double figures. This week only Stafford could crack dub figs with a 12, the next best was a pair of 8’s from Maclin and Nelson but you simply aren’t going to win many matchups with performance like that. KOK on the other hand had 5 players in double figures but none higher than the disappointing to date Brady (issues with Giselle perhaps??). However TC were still alive in the matchup till late after an injury and 0 from Hernandez and a -7 from the Raiders D – bad call here as the Bears were left on the bench with a 9. The 20 left on the bench in the form of Danny Amendola would have got TC over the line here. KOK very lucky to be 2-0.

Allguts Nogorey looked to take their good week 1 form away to Team Walles but travel did not take kindly to Nogorey. An injury to Bradshaw, a donut from the number 3 ranked WR Fitzgerald and a surprise belting for the Cowboys D were always going to make things tough. Team Walles on the other hand again got a massive game from Spiller who is quickly rising up the RB rankings. This was complemented by Newtons 25 and solid performances from Gore, Wallace and Crosby. Ryan and Davis tried hard but Ryan in particular couldn’t repeat the heroics of last week for Nogorey. Team Walles wins this 116-78 and goes 2-0, one of only 2...
