* Just passing on a message to y’all from KARLOS

---------------------

In 2011/12 the TS community had two ESPN NFL Fantasy Leagues which were active and well supported.  This year a combination of players from last years 2 leagues have formed a 12 player KEEPER league which is now full.

A couple of those who have missed out on the new league are keen to get a separate standard ESPN NFL Fantasy League up and running. This will not be a keeper league but will have the usual live draft that for anyone who has done it before will attest is very enjoyable.

Please note that the NFL season starts September 5th so we would be looking to hold the draft at least a week before that, so at the latest by the 29th/30th August.

For those interested in how last season worked see <a href="http://games.espn.go.com/ffl/leagueoffice?leagueId=583546&amp;teamId=3&amp;seasonId=2011">http://games.espn.go.com/ffl/leagueoffice?leagueId=583546&amp;teamId=3&amp;seasonId=2011 and <a href="http://games.espn.go.com/ffl/leaguesetup/settings?leagueId=583546">http://games.espn.go.com/ffl/leaguesetup/settings?leagueId=583546

Please read on over the page and post on this thread if you are interested in joing in this comp or want to know some more info !

Welcome all to the Best Buys, and especially those still in their finals campaigns or in contention for overall, with the season that was 2012 either are a good effort.

As the finals continue and the season draws to a close, the Best Buys are drying up also, with not many rookies being introduced and the General waiting in the wings to mess with the best laid plans. Hawthorn players will be viewed with scepticism after last years finals antics by Clarko, but this year its looking likely that they wont be the only ones.

My pick of the week this week, is Chris Judd. After a suspension lay-off he should be fresh and full of run, and looking to make up for his indiscretions. A star of the game, real and SC, Juddy will also make a great POD for many coaches as the majority who held him were forced to trade when his suspension hit. Personally Im expecting a big game from Juddy this weekend.

For the rest of the Best Buys, and all your thumb needs as always, join me over the break.

INFO

The Best Buys uses a mix of price, form, break-evens and projected salaries to assess the Best Buys of each round. These are essentially the players that represent the best “value” which is determined by the above factors. Some player will not be mentioned on here even if they are playing well, as value is the key for this article. If a player is averaging 110, which is certainly solid, but priced at an average of 112 then they will not be rated. This does not mean these players should be avoided or not picked due to this, but simply that they aren’t as good “value” as the others in the Best Buys. For all the players I’ve missed, and any more you’re wanting opinions on, the thumbs are always there.

The thumbs act as a polling tool for the TS community, if you pose a question with either a yes-no answer or a “thumbs-up X, thumbs down Y” in there then the community as a whole can give you some great feedback into your choices and what they think...
Fantasy EPL 2012/2013 is only 4 days away! S its time we got Too Serious about all things EPL.

For those that dont know there are couple versions of Fantasy EPL. On here we normally concentrate on the <a href="http://fantasy.premierleague.com/M/myteam.mc" target="_blank">Official FPL and <a href="http://epldreamteam.sportal.com.au//?p=index" target="_blank">Virtual Sports EPL

Im sure Walsey wont mind me giving shoutout to guys at <a href="http://fpladdicts.com/" target="_blank">FPLAddicts they are bunch guys that wrote for DTTALK and started own EPL site. If you want some top shelf advice then make sure you check it out.

There were a few friendlys during week and basically Torres locked himself into most teams with great performance. Also been told that Tevez looks like he might pulled his finger out and could be a sneaky POD.

Podolski scored twice and just lock him in now and build team around him.

Rooney &amp; Kawaga were good for ManUtd recently. My worry with Rooney is if this tranfer of RVP comes through it might see his scoring drop.

Anyway just some random thoughts, im sure others can give more detail as I really havent been watching or paying attention in last couple weeks!

Over the break is our league codes and Rate My Team.

What a big week its been in football (thankyou Eddie). A number of late withdrawals hurting many a team, including the donors, where we missed Roughie, Fyfe, and Adams, scoring two donuts on our way to a lowly 2308. This placed us at 60,226 for the week, and meant that we fell 1382 places in the overall, to now be at 19,408 - a far cry from the top 100 or 1000 targets we had at the start of the year (is it still possible to make up a few thousand points in only three weeks???)

In our leagues we won three matches and lost two, which gave us a wide variety of results, from making the preliminary final, to being kicked out at the first hurdle. Its a harsh mistress, this supercoach caper...

Join me over the break to see the team breakdown, and a summary of each of our league performances.<!--more-->

As always, we start with the team breakdown, which goes a little something like this:

Deledio DEF 116
Scotland DEF 119
Goddard DEF 77
H. Shaw DEF 91
Carrazzo DEF 115
Yarran DEF 64
S. Shaw DEF 58
Ablett MID 126 Captain 252
Kennedy MID 168
Selwood MID 99
Mitchell MID 114
Pendlebury MID 116
Priddis MID 111
Cox RUC 190
Campbell RUC 25
Dangerfield FWD 187
Sidebottom FWD 92
Riewoldt FWD 140
Martin FWD 125
Goodes FWD 49

Lake DEF 100
Darley DEF 47
Gibson MID 115
Sexton MID 0
Roughead RUC 0
Pattison RUC 0
Adams FWD 0
Fyfe FWD 0
Franklin FWD 0
Milera FWD 0

Down back, and this week the blues brothers redeemed themselves somewhat, with Scotland leading the way on 119 points, and Carrazzo third on 115, only one point behind Deledios 116. That was it for the tons, with H Shaw next on 91, then Goddard doing everything in his power to reduce his starting price for next season, with a 77. Yarran followed on 64, with S Shaw on 58 rounding out our backline. The decision to bench Lake in favour of S Shaw backfired, with Lake scoring a perfect 100, while Darley continues to keep the pine up to temperature, this week its 47. So some missed...

HUMPTY DOO HAMMERHEADS980 Def byTARWIN LOWER PIGS1145

A 2012 farewell match for both of these sides from the outset, Tarwin Lower outclassing brave, but ailing Humpty Doo by 165 points. Usual suspects Pendles (116, avg. 125), ROK (121, avg. 101) and Carrots (115, avg. 100) netted hungies, along with Wallis (102, avg. 88) who is probably the best performed 2nd year player besides Milikapati's Gaff. While it's season over for the TLP, they have plenty to look forward to; young midfielders I. Smith and Bastinac both averaging over 90 the past fortnight.

For the Hammerheads of Humpty Doo, the present and the future is, how you say, filled with more adversity. First the present; missing Judd (avg. 110) for the past month has severely curtailed this side's scoring. When one of the Hammerheads other bonafide stars in Wells (36, avg. 99) went down in the 1st quarter with an injury (not to mention Silvagni being a late withdrawal care of Lyin), the Hammerheads had an apt bookend to a frustrating season. The future brings not only the possible return/introduction of Ball, Varcoe and Gray, but pick 3 in the draft, which means Humpty Doo are going to get a very good player....
Well, as we watch the Bombers go through another finals throw, lets hear how youve gone in your finals campaigns.

Me, I lost the one I wanted, which sucks- but the double chance exists for a reason right! :D

(Full review up later)
THE FINAL COUNTDOWN! Do-do-do-do, do-do-do-do-do! It has begun! Last round of ORFFL regular season action kicks off tonight! Head over the break for a rather slapdash preview!

HUMPTY DOO HAMMERHEADS (14th, 1121) vs TARWIN LOWER PIGS (13th, 1213)

Neither of these clubs will play finals this year, but by no means is this a nothing match. Humpty Doo continue their revolving door selection policy; Bailey, Silvagni and McKay in, Smedts, Hooker, Goldsack and Bolton out. The last one may hurt in particular. The travelling TLP on the other hand have Patton, Porp and Karnezis all unavailable for match day duties in the front half. Which means they may have to rely on Stephen Milne. Embley also returns from a lengthy stint on the sidelines.

<img src="http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/5487/pbrvspoo.jpg" alt="" width="480px" />

PURNULULU BUNGLE RANGERS (16th, 1084) vs POOWONG POTOROOS (6th, 1235)

After a rather difficult last month the Potoroos get some respite before heading into the finals. The 16th placed Rangers are still without lone ruck Ryder, this week they find Liberatore also in no condition to take the fantasy field. Poowong meanwhile go into the last round relatively unscathed with the Sherm returning to press his case.

BONNIE DOON BANDITS (15th, 1090) vs QUEENSTOWN QUOLLS (9th, 1180)

Queenstown need to win to get into the finals. Without Swan! Which could make it quite tough. Still hes only one man, and...
(OMG,I cant believe I forgot to post this on Tuesday!! #WalesyFail)

Anyways, the pre-amble for this is that Steve, one of the regular commenters here, has, as many of us did, taken part in the Sportingbet Last Man standing comp.

Unlike most of us however, hes still alive!

So drop in, and drop in some words of encouragement

(And of course, realise that any tense was meant for earlier in the week! Dat Walesy!)

<!--more-->

A few years ago, one of my mates told me about this Last Man Standing Competition on Sportingbet where you need to select one team a week to survive. The prize for the Last Man Standing is $50k. The rules of competition are very straight forward whereby for the first 12 rounds of the season you only need to pick one team a week to survive. After round 12, you need to pick the team at the line set by Sportingbet to survive. There are no restrictions on which team to pick each week.

People who are interested in joining this competition next year please note that you do not need to be a Sportingbet customer. It is free entry. All you need to do is to register your details at Sportingbet and they will give you access to the competition. They also do a Last Man Standing Competition for the NRL.

If there is more than one person left at the end of the minor round, the competition will then move into the finals. If there is more than one person left at the end of the grand final, the $50k will be split between the number of people left.

Walesy and Bearly from TooSerious also entered the competition this year.

I have entered the Last Man Standing competition over the past few years without much success as I have always been eliminated within the first 12 weeks of the competition. Last year I made the stupid mistake of picking Port to beat Gold Coast and was eliminated.

However this year is a different story as I am now one of the 62 people left in the running to win the $50k.

There have been a few nervous moments...
Well, almost.

Its the first week of the finals and you can feel the tension in the air.

Those lucky bar-fellows, who hold the double chance get another week to consider what to do with their Chappies and Franklins and Stantons and such, but without that luxury, do you trade hard now to hold your spot in the finals? Do you examine the opposition and hope they dont trade out? Or is it just a duck and cover approach.

Either way, drop into the comments below with any last minute questions, and any updates through the weekend.
