TooSerious
For those who take it way too seriously
Another week and another clean sheet for Arsenal. RVP proves again that he’s a bit alright but also that he’s a true Dutchman with a bottled penalty under pressure. And Tevez 2012 remains the polar opposite of the 2011 version. Join me over the break for more..<!--more-->
Southampton v Man Utd 2-3
Rodriguez and Do Prado were on the bench as Lambert again impressed. 1 goal and 1 assist as Schneiderlin scored their other. Puncheon also got an assist.
For Utd, Ferdinand was back from injury and De Gea was benched. Kagawa was quiet before getting replaced just after the hour as was Cleverley. Scholes and Nani came on and instantly Utd looked more menacing. Ferdinand, Nani and Valencia with the assists. Rafael was again culpable and when Jones(maybe next game) and Smalling come back then one would think he’ll have an almighty battle to keep his place.
The big story was of course RVP who went from the sublime to the ridiculous back to his default position of sublime. His match winning hat-trick (his fourth since 2011) was completed in the 90th min.
West Ham Utd v Fulham 3-0
The writing was on the wall as soon as 54seconds when Nolan opened the scoring. Reid and Taylor also scored. Vaz Te and Taylor with the assists. Andy Carroll was exceptional before going off with a hammy which will need to be monitored. Nolan in particular seemed to enjoy having Carroll on board. A dominant display from the Hammers.
The wind has well and truly been knocked out of Fulham’s sails with the loss of Dembele and Dempsey and getting monstered here. New signing Richardson started as did Rodallega. Berbatov and Kacaniklic were subs.
Newcastle v Villa 1-1
Newcastle haven’t quite got going yet this season and were maybe a bit lucky to grab a point. Pardew admitted after the game that Ba and Cisse are a bit underdone, unlike goalscorer Ben Arfa who has been their best player this season.

The Sarah Island Savages have won the 2012 ORFFL Premiership. Like that scene from the end of the 2nd Batman where the little kid asks Commissioner Gordon 'Why are we chasing him?'
'Because YOU have to, son. Because you have to.'

SARAH ISLAND SAVAGES1287 DefWARBURTON WANDERERS1261
Figured this review was going to be hard to write either way going into this weekend, needless to say that I'm not going to feel as bad doing a poor job given that I've won; Sarah Island defeating Warburton by 26 points in the inaugural 2012 ORFFL Grand Final.
'Twas a gripping and at time spiteful encounter with Wally's targeting Lachie (4) from the outset, knocking him out; a flow on effect being that FWD Tory Dickson (41) became afraid of going near ball or opposition. Sarah Island's famous Jar claimed early victims in retaliation; the invisible squeeze being applied to Lewis (56) and Hale (71) on Friday night.
The Wanderers picked up 3 tons on Saturday night with Hill (100, f.avg. 99), MJ (129, f.avg. 85) and Sylvia (114, f.avg. 115) saluting, but Sarah island were able to match with century scoring from Taylor (122, .avg. 93),Mundy (132, finals avg. 126),NicNat (109, f.avg. 122)Mayne (108, f.avg. 84), and JPK (105, f.avg. 116).
Going into the final day some 70-odd points in front, the Savages had the Wanderers in the Jar, they just needed to get the lid on and screw it shut. Enter Waite (119, f.avg. 121), rocking like a hurricane and a bunch of lesser lights not sucking too hard to hold on. Griffen (106, f.avg. 129), Player of the ORFFL Finals, made a late charge but couldn't muster enough to get his boys up....

Here it is guys, last one for the year so heres Terry.
The chickens are asking what was all the excitement about? Did it easy.

Foul Bay (1392) shrugged off the challenge from Charlie’s Opening (1160) with ease. Looks like we will all be chasing chook feathers next year. Nonetheless, CR might have been a bit uncomfortable had he come against the Packers or the Battlers.
Powlett Plains (1488) top scored and condemned the Waikicks (1159) to an ignoble end to the season. No more free pinot for the Philosoraptor.
In the Battle of the Birds, Birdsville (1419) did it easy over the Cockies (1218), despite a good score from Gariwerd.
Marble Bar (1167) yet again unlucky to go down to Cradle Mountain (1191). The Misfits are one team who can get a real lift out of trading and the draft.
Congratulations to Foul Bay for an unbeaten season and setting the bar high for next year.
The final ladder positions:
1.Foul Bay 68
2.Iron Knob 60
3.Mt. Beauty 44
4.Gundagai 44
5.Charlie’s 44
6.Darraweit 44
7.Birdsville 40
8.Mawson 40
9.Cradle M. 36
10.Gariwerd 28
11.Venus Bay 28
12.Far Kew 28
13.Waikicks 24
14.Powlett 24
15.Warriors 20
16.Marble Bar 16
17.Namitjara 16
18.Nunawading 8
Don’t go away folks! We have lots to do to shape our season for next year. A few changes, a few tweaks and lots of banter and democracy at play. Be sure to visit the Calendar thread in ORFFA to make sure you don’t miss out.

So, fathers day started great. There was a sleepin followed by some excellent presents, and finally a day trip out to the snow planned.
Anyway, got about a quarter of the way there, and long story short, Im still sitting at the petrol station waiting for the tow truck to come save the day. Seems the wheels fell off a bit, jut like my supercoach season- but hey, thats just more inspiration to put in a bigger pre season and work hard on providing the best damn updates possible over the offseason.
Anyways, stick around because we have plenty on in the next few weeks, including Brownlow night, that night of nights whee we all win big!
Ive been sitting on the U18 championship stats , so Ill get those up over the next few weeks.
Then we have preseason train reports, the various draft and a whole swag of alternative fantasy sports.
And hey, I hear that that walesy fellow is doing a fair rewrite of the site, from the ground up, which should prove interesting.
Everyone, join me in thanking our wonderful writers for there fantastic hard work over the season, blueBeliever, holey, jasmine, sheesh all of you! Theres just so many I you here now and you all do a magnificent job of keeping this place the vibrant, intelligent place that it is. You guys rock! And if you make it to the Brownlow drinks, I promise to buy you a few drinks!
Anyways, iPhone posting sucks, so Ill leave it there until I get home, but its been a great (bit painful) year and Id love to heAr how youve gone- particularly you powertothepeople! Win this damn thing for all of us!

Finishing on 53,118, with an average of 2,309.48 and a team value of $14,333,700 its official.
Powertothepeople is this years Supercoach!

I wanna say congrats mate, and bloody well done!

Heres Terry!
This preview is for the forthcoming and final round and, unlike the ORRFL, we don’t know the results yet.
Lot of tight ones coming up this weekend, making for an exciting finale.
In our first year we have opted for first past the post and Foul Bay has romped home. Reminiscent of the Essendon teams of yesteryear, the Chooks have gone through the season undefeated.
<!--more-->
BUT! This week Foul Bay (1) come up against Charlie’s Opening (3). Last week Tucky and the Chooks scored 1151, while Charlie managed 1247. Rumour has it Kane Cornes will go to Tucky (because he’s too slow to catch Cotchin). Can Charlie break the unbeaten run? This will be a close contest folks.
Then we have Marble Bar (15) hosting Cradle Mountain (9). Only 45 points separated these teams last week and Marble are long overdue for a win and a bit of luck falling their way.
Gundagai (5) take on the Mawson Penguins (7) at home. Normally this would be a highly anticipated contest but we suggest the Hoppers toss the cray pots in the ‘Bidgee, light the barbie and put the beer on ice. Oh, and don’t forget to feed the dog.
Venus Bay (11) get to play their final match at home, hosting Mount Beauty (4). It shows how tight these outer regional leagues can be when only 24 points split these two last week. If you can get good odds a small wager on Fitzy getting up in this one could give a decent return. He will be keen to finish the year on a high note and the scalp of the 4th placed team would do nicely.
Far Kew (12) are at home to Iron Knob (2). The Frogs not without a chance here if generals and late withs come into play.
Social match of the round will be Powlett Plains (14) hosting the Waikicks (13). Who will triumph? The beer or the pinot? The Warriors (16) have their final game at home (Whitsundays a popular destination in this league) hosting Namatjira (17), who might surprise by turning up.
The match of the round has to be The Battle of the Birds....

Hiya all,
Bout time I chimed in with an update on the games most prestigous individual award. Gary Ablett Jnr is set to join current greats Adam Goodes and Chris Judd as a dual Bronwlow Medallist, after a scintillating last 7 weeks, which has combined with some good fortune for his team. An average of 151 SC points, 33 possessions, 1.4 goals per game across 3 wins and 4 losses should see Gary collect 16-17 votes over this period. Combined with his strong early season form, I now have Ablett on 31 votes, 3 votes clear of Watson who has lead for the majority of the season but has since fallen away.
Dane Swan, Matthew Boyd & Scott Thompson round out the Top 5 on 25, 24 & 24 votes. The race for the most votes per team has become a lot more interesting than it was earlier in the year, with previous lock-ins being chased down by up and coming stars. Read on sir, read on...

And then there were two, when there can be only one. I'm so excited I could punch someone! The inaugural post-season of the mighty ORFFL finishes up this weekend, but not before two heavyweights of fantasy football clash in a best-o-teh-best matchup to decide the premiership! Take a moment to imagine the elation for the winner! The bragging rights! The pure, unadulterated glory!

...this match pits Warburton, a club with all the trophies so far - pre-season and minor, against Sarah Island, a club that has scored more points than any other. If that isn't enough to pique prospective interest, the last time theses two side met in R7, it was decided by just 3 points after the siren on a Monday night! (In one of life's little 'coincidences' Carlton and St. Kilda play each other again this weekend).
The finals are where reputations are made, and the big game players for both sides have left their mark over the past two weeks. For Warburton it's been Murphy (Finals avg. 143), Kruezer (110), Griffen (142), Hill (134), Hale (121), Sylvia (116) and Chornes (108). At Sarah Island Goddard (119), NicNat (129), Mundy (123), JPK (122), Simpson (113), Bundy (101), Waite (123) and Minson (109) have led the way.
At the selection table, some handy, and timely, inclusions for both sides. Sarah Island have the...

And then there were two. Due to a host of computer problems (well, mainly just the not being able to turn it on part), this Preliminary Final Week Review comes to you extra late! Feels somewhat strange and redundant writing a review on a Thursday, given that interested parties already know the results and have done for some time now. WARBURTON WANDERERS1249 DefPOOWONG POTOROOS1109
A see-sawing affair that in the end saw Warburton book their place in the Granny with an 140 point win over the valiant Poowong. Stalwarts Kruezer (125, avg. 91), Griffen (114, avg. 106), Lewis (102, avg. 98), Boak (134, 91), Sylvia (120, avg. 96) made their way to handsome centuries, as did Hill (129, avg. 80) notching his 2nd ton in the royal blue and white in timely fashion. As much as I like to applaud the solid 85's that make this game great, it's the larger scores that enter 3 digits that really get the job done. Especially in the pressure cooker atmosphere that is finals. Warburton having 6 of these entires into the stats book proved to be enough to secure the winner as 6 or more often does. What was somewhat surprising is that they managed to achieve victory despite being a player and a half short.
Which brings us to Poowong, and what they failed to achieve: victory and a chance at glory. As i no doubt mentioned in the preview, the Potoroos are a team that needs all its stars to fire if it hopes to succeed. They didn't. Gary (124, avg. 139) did(-ish), SJ (103, avg. 97) did, Sewell (105, avg. 102) did. The rest didn't by and large. ADE's Thompson (75, avg. 110) hasn't hit that mark in a month, NM's Thompson (82, avg. 82) not since R7. Ultimately, Poowong's season...
