TooSerious
For those who take it way too seriously
Due to Xeno being MIA currently, Terry has kindly provided some words of encouragement for you ORFFA peoples, so Ill hand it over to him for your latest preview of matches.
Round 16
Not sure who we are appreciating this week, but it is the ORFFA penultimate round, so that means have your pen ready Fitzy.
<!--more-->
Kicking off the laughs will be the Cockies, Gariwerd (12) hosting Marble Bar (15). Only 9 points separated these teams last round, so expect a tight one.
Namatjira (16), despite their lowly position topped 1200 last week, but they won’t have it all their own way as Jolcon assures us Birdsville (9) will enter a team of melons this time around. Going to be one hot and dusty (and thirsty) footy match.
Match of the round looked to be The Battle of the Bottoms as Nunnawading (18) host the Whitsunday Warriors (17), but Jory having a sore foot has dampened the cocktail spirits somewhat.
Darraweit Guim (3), despite not having a team song, have been travelling nicely and will be a tough ask for the Kiwis. The Waikicks (13) were a bit unlucky to go down to the Cockies last week and Sammy could have made the difference.
Another done and dusty meeting will be Iron Knob (2) hosting Powlett Plains (14). Can P’rap pull a rabbit out of the hat? Perhaps not. Plagued by injury in the latter half of the season, his ladder position does not reflect his philosophy. Or does it?
Mount Beauty (6) have been travelling well without any huge scores and they take on Far Kew (11). Will the Frogs be daring enough this week to enter a team? Or must we spank them?
Charlie’s Opening (4) will host Venus Bay (10) and I would like to say not much separates these teams, but there are enough naughty connotations in there without adding that. Big chance for Fitzy to come home with a wet sail.
Frozen chicken anyone? Foul Bay (1) have to travel to Mawson (5) and there is no guarantee the Penguins will turn up. So the chooks may have to stand...

WARBURTON WANDERERS(1258) vs POOWONG POTOROOS(1231)
1st vs 6th? 1st vs 4th? Ladder positions won't matter a jot over the next few days as Warburton go into battle against Poowong. All that will matter is which teams get more points. The average difference between the two teams is just 27 points the Wanderers way, and there are some definite stylistic similarities between the sides.
Both clubs have a largesse of talent in the middle of the park; Gary (140), Thompson (112) and Sewell (101) for Poowong, Murphy (116), Griffen (106), Hartlett (91) and Boak (88) for Warburton. Likewise in the FWD half; SJ (97) and Hawkins (95) forming a formidable double act at Poowong, Lewis (98), Hale (97), Sylvia (93) and Chornes (87) currently league's best practice at Warburton.
Reading between the lines and numbers the difference between the two clubs is stark despite both liking the ball to be in the middle and front half. Warburton have a depth of talent that Poowong do not, and Powoong have a Gary Ablett, which Warburton do not. Which in the end can kind of even it out, because if Gary scores 280 - which he is clearly capable of - the Potoroos essentially have a midfield of Gary, Gary, Thompson, Sewell and Mzungu. Which would help offset the gulf in all round depth, and a RUC battle between Warburton's Kruezer (89) and Poowong's own Roughead (65) that will most likely end in a loss for the Potoroos.
At the selection table the Potoroos are still without Jones (83) as STK wind down their season, while Miles (66), who's had an up and down season to be fair, is also absent. Boom kick McKenzie (65)...

Round 21 recap: Some familiar names at the top of the leaderboard with some relatively obscure names too. Ablett led the way with an impressive 189 from 43 disposals in a 10 goal losing effort. He was followed by Murphy with 187, Griffen with 170, Beams with 166 , Jeremy Howe with 165, Toby Greene with 165, Kade Simpson with 156 and Steven May and David Hale both with 151.
Currently Ablett is in 52.25% of all Supercoach teams. So, for the remaining 47.75% of you, let’s look at the numbers for the week …

Hi again, and welcome to the second last Best Buys for the season.
For the final 2 Best Buys Ill be ignoring the regulars, and instead focussing on the POD options available. I figure that if youre still alive in overall or your finals then you probably already know that Gazzas a gun, and dont need me continuing to tell you so. So over the break I will look at some of the players to sneak under the radar so far this season, and studiously ignore the Lids and Dangers of the year.
My tip of the week this week is Rory Sloane, a break-out player racking up some very good numbers in a top side. Ignored by many for his Crows companions in Dangerfield and Thompson, Sloane is a good chance to score big and has a great run home to help.
I must admit when I took on the Best Buys at the start of the year I didnt realise quite how much went into it, or how much Id learn from doing it. Thank you all for your support and comments, and for pointing out the things Id missed, as this sort of interaction is what really makes this place what it is.
So, for all the Best Buys and the usual thumbs/polls etc, join me over the break!

INFO
The Best Buys uses a mix of price, form, break-evens and projected salaries to assess the Best Buys of each round. These are essentially the players that represent the best “value” which is determined by the above factors. Some player will not be mentioned on here even if they are playing well, as value is the key for this article. If a player is averaging 110, which is certainly solid, but priced at an average of 112 then they will not be rated. This does not mean these players should be avoided or not picked due to this, but simply that they aren’t as good “value” as the others in the Best Buys. For all the players I’ve missed, and any more you’re wanting opinions on, the thumbs are always there.
The thumbs act as a polling tool for the TS community, if you pose a question with either a yes-no answer or a...

Hi all,
Well, it’s been a rather sobering few months for me as I’ve had my arse well and truly felt in all three of my TS Supercoach leagues (owing to some wonderful foresight I did keep on two mate’s leagues though - which has helped to ease the pain, massaged the ego even). Now though it’s time to address the balance and take a spanking in TS FPL as well.
I’m only half-joking as despite being a bit of a veteran at EPL FF, I’m a relative novice at FPL.
However, I will have the help of my young kids as they have a pathological hatred of sleeping therefore I will be able to see the vast majority of the games, regardless of the k.o time.
As such, every week I’ll bring you a Round Review of the games that you’ll hopefully enjoy and find helpful along the way.
This week’s review is quite meaty and I’ve tried to include players that have been mentioned in the last week or so. Dembele, Petric, Rodriguez etc all get some coverage, so grab yourself a cuppa or whatever and join me over the break…<!--more-->
Wigan v Chelsea 0-2
Roberto Martinez in time-honoured tradition has ordered his players to lose all games in the first two-thirds of the season before embarking on a ridiculous unbeaten run to escape relegation. They passed their first test with flying colours in a defeat against Chelsea. Ivanovic and Lampard (pen) with the goals and Hazard the assists. Ramires was out (illness), while Sturridge, Cahill and Oscar all started on the bench. Bertrand, possibly surprisingly, started.
Wigan new signing Kone came off the bench on 67mins while fellow new signing Ramis had a bit of a nightmare. Maloney came off injured (48mins) while Chelsea target Moses ran rings round both full-backs.
Man City v Southampton 3-2
This game was bonkers. Aguero injured. Silva missed pen, goals for Tevez, Dzeko and Nasri. Soton goal machine and talisman. Lambert surprisingly started on the bench. Do Prado started up front while Rodriguez started wide left mid but...

Well, I for one am really starting to hate this game. Or maybe its just Clarko that Im hating. Yeah, thats probably more it right now.
As you may have guessed, the donors this week had a bit of a shocker. We scored 2295 points for the round, which placed us at a ranking of 54,992 so although we lifted our week-on-week ranking, we fell a further 828 spots in the overall, to now be placed 20,236. I think its now fair to say that our shot at glory is over for 2012!!!
We only played one league match this week, which we won, so the round wasnt a complete disaster. Join me over the break to see how it all panned out.<!--more-->
As always we begin with a snapshot of how our team performed for the week. In Round 21 it looked a little something like this:

Down back we were lead by Goddards 116 and Deledios 104, closely followed by Yarrans 101 and H Shaws 100 also cracking the ton. We then had a fair old gap back to Scotland and his 64, Carrazzo and his 59, and Lake and his 54. This was made even more disappointing since Lake did so well in exile last week that we swapped him back with S Shaw, who ended up cracking a 113 on the bench, next to Darleys 29. So, that unfortunate mixup again with Lake and Shaw cost us 59 points this week. Next time I think we should make a selection, then play the other guy!
In the middle and we had the little master, the guy who should change his name by deed poll to "permacap" run away with it, scoring a massive 189 points...

And then there were four. With the first week of the inaugural ORFFL finals series over we find, as expected, just four teams remaining in the hunt for ultimate fantasy glory. Warburton. Milikapati. Sarah Island. Poowong. All pressed their claims to ORFFL supremacy over the weekend, and yet there can be only one. Who will it be?
Read on, dear traveller.

WARBURTON WANDERERS1380 DefMOUNT BUGGERY DISAPPOINTMENTS1016
DOMINATION at Wallyville, Warburton crushing a hapless Mount Buggery by a gargantuan 364 points. Staggering to think they accomplished a score of such magnitude in the pressure cooker atmosphere of finals with a player short. How did they accomplish this feat? Murphy (187, avg. 116), Griffen (170, avg. 106) and Hale (151, avg. 97) went all tropical over the 'Pointers, ably supported by sedater hungies from Chornes (108, avg. 87) and Sylvia (112, avg. 93). In point of fact, the Wanderers FWD line, already leagues best practice, scored a mammoth 466 points on the weekend. That's an avg. of over 116 per player. Larry David-esque huge.
In the face of adversity Mount Buggery were...well...yeah. It is known that injuries have not been kind to them, but then neither have the players they have put on the field either. Well, some. Top-liners Goldstein (121, avg. 97), Roughead (127, avg. 106) and Sidebum (115, avg. 106) played honourable games, but received precious little help from their teammates. Missing Ward (avg. 107), the 'Pointers badly needed Stanton (72, avg. 106) and yet he could not. Comparing his 1st half of the season (avg. 130) his 2nd (avg. 82), something has gone horribly wrong for the man once dubbed 'NewGary'.

Oh no, what a disaster.
3 trades in the bank, a full suite of premiums on the field. Cloke coming in for Buddy, but unless Goodes, JPKennedy and Lewis score less that 270, it looks like Im bundled out of my cash league in straight sets! Shattered!
Anyways, Im hoping that youre all doing better! Drop in and let us know!

So, a good win from the cats, though it sounds like Chappy might miss next week.
Anyways, drop in and let us know how that finals campaign is going!
