For those who take it way too seriously

Massive massive scores this week! The highest managed to crack a massive 2,903, which also moved them into the top1000. Will be interesting how the HUN goes with the team name Scroteam though. :D

Anyways, before I move into the review, I just wanted to quickly bring this to the attention of anyone who has missed it: <a href="http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/142844/default.aspx">Just the one bye next year, meaning we should be expecting next year, what we got this year. It just depends on if VS change how they deal with it.

Essendon vs Hawthorn

Result: Hawthorn by 94, 27/18/180 to 12.14.86

Wow, dont those Hawks look good. 8 goals to 1 in the first quarter, and just never looked back. Sure, the 3rd quarter broke even, but it was a pure domination for the flag favourites.

I gotta say, on current form, the Bombers are looking to miss the 8, lots of injuries have played there part, but like last year, they just look to be losing their mojo in the second half of the year- just missing those passes that worked in the first half.

Whitecross top scored for the Hawks with 29 touches and 139SC, with Rioli and his 134SC hot on his haunches.

Hodge kicked 5 in his first game back, scoring a 112SC dispite being subbed off!

For the Dons, Watson keeps up his good form, with 37 touches and 120SC.

He was the only ton breaker though, with Stanton a prime villian, held to just 14 touches and 70SC.

Heroes: Whitecross, Rioli, Watson
Villians: Stanton

Geelong vs Adelaide

Result: Geelong by 27, 15.12.102 to 11.9.75

Cant believe I forgot to mention this match in the pre-weekend post! Was always going to be a cracker as two finals-bound teams crashed into each other!

After Stevie J got himself concussed at the opening bounch (Which mind you, is loking bad for the Thompson owners!), and Adelaide putting on the first 2 goals,...
Couple of crackers this week. Essendon/Hawks tonight is always a beauty, as is the Carlton/Richmond game tomorrow night.

Two that Im very much looking forward to!

Anyways, if youre about, <A href="http://tooserious.net/live_scores.php?page=gameday&id=10251057&process=live">join in with the chat tonight.
Round 17 recap: Six scores over 150 and Ablett rewards those who stuck with him with 150. Leading the round was Beams with 162, Petrie with 161, Pavlich with 160 , JP Kennedy with 157 and Tuck with 155. Based on recent efforts of 133 and 150 in his past two games, it is getting very difficult (again) to look past Ablett. In addition to recent form, look at Ablett’s numbers against the Swans …

Ablett v. Sydney

Rd 16 2011: 19 SC points, 3 disposals
Rd 18 2010: 135 SC points, 29 disposals

Rd 5 2008: 254 SC points, 35 disposals
Rd 13 2007: 122 SC points, 23 disposals

Average is 150 SC points with 29 disposals.

Note: 150! What a huge average. And that average is despite his 19 SC points in the game last year when he was subbed off in the second quarter with a knee injury. Take that score out and his average jumps to 172 with 34 disposals. Returned to form with 150 last round which had followed scores of 133 and 110.

Rd 14 2008: 121 SC points, 37 disposals
Rd 19 2007: 127 SC points, 27 disposals

Average is 120 SC points with 29 disposals.

Note: Fantastic record against the Crows. Struggled in the 2011 game which was an 11 point win at Footy Park. Will enjoy playing at Simonds Stadium and should bounce back after a poor game last week with a score of 83 against Essendon. This had followed scores of 107, 116, 149 and 101 (average of 111).

Fyfe, Winderlich and Hodge all coming into their respective squads this week will damage their potential bargainess (yeah, thats a word) for next year. Unless of course they get some severe subbing between now and the end of the year.

Tippett, Sidebottom and Couch out is going to put pressure on forwardlines already hurting from Franklin, so lets hope youre in your finals already!!!

Welcome all to this weeks edition of the Best Buys.

As the title suggests we are faced with an influx of rookies either on the bubble or playing their second game this week, so theres a fair few to look through.

My pick of the week is Droopy, Drew Petrie, as he is in some great touch personally, and in one of the form sides of the comp at the moment. Now due to internet issues this is the 3rd time Ive written this intro so Ill cut it short this time and hope for the best.

For all the rest of the info on Droopy and the rookies, and the remainder of the Best Buys, join me over the break.

INFO

The Best Buys uses a mix of price, form, break-evens and projected salaries to assess the Best Buys of each round. These are essentially the players that represent the best “value” which is determined by the above factors. Some player will not be mentioned on here even if they are playing well, as value is the key for this article. If a player is averaging 110, which is certainly solid, but priced at an average of 112 then they will not be rated. This does not mean these players should be avoided or not picked due to this, but simply that they aren’t as good “value” as the others in the Best Buys. For all the players I’ve missed, and any more you’re wanting opinions on, the thumbs are always there.

The thumbs act as a polling tool for the TS community, if you pose a question with either a yes-no answer or a “thumbs-up X, thumbs down Y” in there then the community as a whole can give you some great feedback into your choices and what they think about it, while also catering to the lazy amongst them that can’t be bothered actually typing out a response.

The “Waiting List” section at the end of the article shows players who are looking like being great buys but for whatever reason will be better looked at in the coming weeks rather than this one. In the case of the first few names on the list this is because they have only played one...
6 rounds to go, 6 realistic contenders in the Brownlow Medal chase, with Pendlebury only an outside chance given his lengthy layoff mid-season.  Ablett &amp; Swan continue to push pressure on Watson and Thompson, who have led for the majority of the year.  Swans game was an interesting one - and worthwhile comparing to Abletts record breaking effort earlier in the year when the Suns were smashed by 90+ points at the hands of the Pies.  Against Hawthorn, Swan had 49 telling possessions, kicked 2 goals, had countless clearances - and yet potentially not the Pies best player in a side that was overwelmed by the Hawks.

If Swan is to go back-to-back, Round 16 may prove the difference.

On top of the usual weekly votes, over the page Ill also lay down my current predictions for the All Australian Team.  No formulas this time, just good ol fashioned gut feel ;).

Welcome all to anotherweek of donor team goodness. This last round we managed a score of 2165 points, which placed us at 52,151 for the round, and meant that we dropped a few places in the overall, to now be 15,735 for the season.

In our leagues we won three of five this week. Our wins came in Ucantbetooserious, where we’re now 11th, TS Pinewarmers, now 7th, and the TS WA league, now 8th. Our losses came in Ucantbe TS, where we’re now 4th, and TS Igotatheory, now third.

Join me over the break to see how the team actually performed.<!--more-->

A disappointing 20 players scoring this week, with the team breakdown for round 17 looks like this:

Selwood (VC),MID,83
Priddis,,MID,110
Pendlebury,MID,127

Gibson (E),MID,72
Sexton,,MID,0
Campbell (E),RUC,0
Pattison,RUC,0
Franklin,,FWD,0
Milera,,FWD,0
Adams,,FWD,0

Our defence this week was topped by cheater Shaw, on 106, being the only man to break the ton down back. He was followed by Carrazzo’s 97 and Deledio’s 91, with Yarran on 86, Lake on 79, and a very disappointing Goddard on 57. We had an on-field zero in the waste-of-space “premium” Broughton, while both Shaw and Darley were donuts on the pine. Clearly no potential points missed here, just lots of disappointment.

In the mids we had Kennedy leading the way on 157, closely followed by captain Gazza on 150 points, doubled-up to a nice round 300. Pendelbury came in next, with 127 points, followed by Priddis on 110, and Mitchell on 106. Finally there was Selwood failing to break the ton, for 83 points. On the pine was our emergency Gibson on 72, and the injured Sexton on a donut. The only points...
A big round of matches this week with second against third and fourth against fifth. Bandits mob prove a bit too good for the Kiewa valley boys and the Protectors prove way too good for a frankly disappointing Penguins. The Pipi Diggers and the Guim confirm their spots within the eight and Whitsundays win two in a row.

Continue over the page for all the action..........

Marble Bar 1041 lost to Darraweit Guim 1278

The Dirigibles with an important win away which sees them cement their spot in the eight. Not much joy for the Misfits in a match which sees none of their players over the ton.

Whitsundays 1251 defeated Powletts Plains 921

The Warriors take advantage of a yet again injury riddled Packers to make it back to back wins and more importantly - they did it without Juddy. Our ruminating Raptor must surely be thinking about sacking his entire medical staff, such have been the Packers woes on that front this season.

Birdsville 1144 lost to Far Kew 1269

The Frogs have been a strange sort of team this year. That midfield can pull out some big scores but they still lose some you would expect them to win. Not this week though, as Jack Grimes shows the way at Birdsville.

Gariwerd 1047 lost to Venus Bay 1240

Tough week for the Cockies, especially when Tippet knocks his coconut against Beau Waters iron bonce early doors.  A good win for the Vultures which sees them move a game clear in seventh.

Namatjira 1243 lost to Foul Bay 1454

Have you ever seen those movies where the plucky underdog manages to scrap a win over a behemoth? Well in real life most often that behemoth wins and this match proved no different as Tucky picks up another 3 votes in the Chooks B &amp; F. I dunno what the medical staff down there have been injecting him  with before a game, but I bet its illegal to give it to racehorses.

(Does your B &amp; F have a name, Chief?)

Waikiamoocow 1087 lost to Cradle...
What an absolute belter of a round of ORFFL! 4 games decided by under 20 points including, wait for it, a draw. A freaking draw! And nobody called it! Disgraceful. We find the 'Pointments clambering into the 8 on the back of said draw, and the Pyrite falling out of it on the back of another Reid sub- 60.

Head over the break so we can get personable.

TARWIN LOWER PIGS 1194 DefPOPANYINNING PYRITE1188

Tarwin Lower concocted a truly improbable 8 victory over Popanyinning despite being 2 players down. Sometimes the fantasy gods smile upon you. Pendles (127) continued where he left off last week, as did ROK (117) who has averaged a mighty 113 since R8. In fact the recent form of a couple of key Pigs (Carrots, Hanley, Porps) has been incredible; all averaging 105+ over the past month. At 2 and a 1/2 wins behind 8th spots it's not inconceivable, therefore not theoretically impossible for the TLP to make the finals from here. They will need some more of the good fortune they experienced this weekend.

Dislike-wise, the 'Yinning will need less of the bad fortune they experienced on Sunday; a loss that saw them slip to the unfashionable 9th place. The OUTS: of Shuey and Rich from the famed 6Pack rippled through that area of the round; Boyd (80) and Swallow (92) down compared to recent form, Magner (54) down on his FA form. Somewhat interesting note that Duffman scored 85 playing in the 'Yinning reserves.

A big weekend in football. The top 8 playing each other, the results of which is giving us a better idea on whats going to happen this year.

First thing we can all agree on. Hawthorn is the team to beat this year.

Second, Adelaide is doing well better than I thought they would- mid year, I honestly expected them and the Bombers to fall off pretty hard- but no, just the Bombers have fallen off- and pretty hard.

Sydney followers are extremely lucky- not only are you guys rising again so quickly, youre also playing some great footy to do it. Bravo.

So, still 5 genuine flag changes running this year, with one a little more genuine that the rest.

Note: Ive crashed cause the kids are too stronk this weekend, so its unlikely that well have a full review done- but well see!

Geelong vs Essendon

Result: Geelong by 57, 20.14.134 to 10.7.67

Well, Geelong might be getting a little long in the tooth, but for mine, they still have a few more volleys to fire. They were magnificent.

Duncan top scored with a 148SC off 31 touches, while Hawkins managed 139SC with 15 touches and 5 goals.

However, Johnson managed a 136SC from just 3 quarters and 22 touches! Imagine if he wasnt subbed! Not to fear though, word is that he should be back for next weeks game.

From the Bombers side, it was ugly. Jobe was ever reliable cracking the ton- but his partner in crime, Stanton is once again wearing the villians vest, returning 57SC off 18 touches.

Heroes: Duncan, Hawkins, Johnson, Taylor
Villians: Stanton

Collingwood vs Hawthorn

Result: Hawthorn by 47, 21.12.138 to 13.13.91

No Buddy? No problem. The Hawks have officially instilled themselves are the flag favourites. And fair enough too- they were dominant against the Pies, even without their big man up forwards.

Rioli top scored for the Hawks in his 100th with 19 touches and 127SC, while Lewis...
