TooSerious
For those who take it way too seriously
Greetings to my esteemed ORFFA colleagues and thanks to you all for your patience this week. Nunawading crack it for their first win this week, which must have the coaching staff at Whitsundays worried as they are now only percentage away from the wooden spoon. The Nungas continue on their winning ways at Darraweit in a match that apparently had some world class brawling by the fans in the outer.
Continue over the break to see more of this intense, tough and entirely imaginary football league .......<!--more-->
Marble Bar 1250 lost to Birdsville 1325
A vital win away for the Battlers which sees them move back into finals contention. Very little separating the middle of the ladder teams though, which gives the Misfits some solace as they drink their cares away again.
Gariwerd 1257 defeated Whitsundays 1088
The Cockies with a routine win over an again disappointing Whitsundays. The cocktail and spa training regime of the Warriors surely must be coming into question after another insipid effort.
Namatjira 1341 defeated Darraweit Guim 1228
A good game of footy which degenerated into mixed martial arts in the crowd toward the end after a Nungas fan insulted big Ivans hair style. Namatjira still mathematical possibilities to make the eight if you do some creative accounting. The Guim need to regroup after a couple of tough weeks.
Nunawading 1044 defeated Powletts Plains 908
Our pensive dinosaur will be wishing that he had tear ducts after Nuna get the chockies at Springvale rd. Andy may only need another couple of wins to avoid the wooden spoon. Buddy down with a hammy in the last quarter not doing the Packers any favours either.
Waikikamoocow 1182 lost to Far Kew 1229
The frogs suprise everyone (including their coaching staff, no doubt) by hopping over to NZ for a good away win. The Incorrigibles shouldnt be discouraged though (and given their name, you wouldnt think so) as they are still well in...

Wow, lots of ins and outs this week, Franklin, combined with Martin will test a lot of forward lines, but for those who have him, thank goodness SJ is back in the squad.
Tippett has also been named, but after watching Buddy last week, I could definitely see him being pulled from the squad.
Ins: Murphy, Couch, Redden, SJ, Pendlebury, Darley, Hargrave
Outs: Magner, Ryder, Paine, Williams, Bugg, McDonald, Franklin, Shuey
Full teams over the break

Round 15 recap: Five huge scores last round all over 150. Leading the way was Cox who had a match winning fourth quarter against North and finished with 215. Following him was Pavlich with 175, Priddis with 170, Rioli with 159 and McVeigh with 152. Ablett? Well he gave us 110 …
So the questions this week are: Ablett? Cox? Injured stars returning in Pendlebury or Murphy? Or recently consistent players such as Swan or Watson?

WOY WOY WIZARDS (18th, 1187) vs TARWIN LOWER PIGS (12th, 1198)
POTENTIAL INS: Black, Malceski, Power, Callinan, Doughty, T. McDonald, A. Selwood (Wizards), Pendlebury (Pigs)
OUTS: Hocking (Pigs)
Woy Woy are going through a massive dry spell at the moment with their last win back in Round 4. Malceski should come back this week after being a late non-inclusion, as well as long list of other potential ins – but none are named Hodge. The Pigs are grunting along, but the big news is they welcome back number 1 pick Scott Embleberry this week. Little separates these teams based on average, but you would have to back the Pigs given the Wizards track record. While not favourite for the game, the Wizards new found favouritism for Jaeger has to mean something.
<img src="http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/534/r13qqvspp.jpg" alt="" />
QUEENSTOWN QUOLLS (11th, 1148) vs POOWONG POTOROOS (5th, 1218)
POTENTIAL INS: Trengove, A. Hall, Grant (Quolls), S. Johnson, R. Murphy, Jamar, Sewell, S.D. Thompson, Mattner (Potoroos)
OUTS: Hampson, Jacobs (Quolls), Lower (Potoroos)
The Quolls have been a bit disappointing since the break, slipping to the second lowest average in the competition while having 2 loses. Hampson will be out for the year, and with no sign of Stephenson and Warnock being stupid in the VFL I’m not sure who they will get to cover. The <del datetime="2012-07-12T11:54:12+00:00">latewithdrawals</del> Potoroos just managed to sneak over the line last week despite all their emergencies getting a call up, but with an impressive list of ins this week I’d watch out! This week saw some bad SC news in the form of not just Buddy out for a few weeks, but also Beau (who I coincidentally traded in last week) facing a stint on the sidelines, causing some major headaches for more than a few coaches. Who has cover? Will it be enough or will you lose too many points in the mean-time? A few questions need to be asked, and answered, and hopefully the Best Buys can help with that.
This week my pick of the week is once again two, and they are Yarran and Roughie. Yarran showed last week against the Pies that he is capable of pumping out good games, and at his price he really is perfect cover for any injured or sidelined defenders for a couple of weeks. If he and the Blues can ignore the last 2 months and instead follow last weekends lead then he may even make it as a defensive starter. Roughie is in some good form, and is perfectly positioned to swoop on Buddys pie while he takes a bit of a rest. His R/F MPP also means a trade into the forward-line could always be moved to the ruck with the right rookie sitting on the bench.
My apologies for the lateness of the article, and the sparse commentary on a few of the players, things should settle down in the next couple of weeks and the next Best Buys will certainly aim to have a little more detail. Until then, join me over the break for this weeks Best Buys.
<!--more-->
INFO
The Best Buys uses a mix of price, form, break-evens and projected salaries to assess the Best Buys of each round. These are essentially the players that represent the best “value” which is determined by the above factors. Some player will not be mentioned on here even if they are playing well, as value is the key for this article. If a player is averaging 110, which is certainly solid, but priced at an average of 112 then they will not be rated. This does not mean these players should be avoided or not picked due to this, but simply that they aren’t as good “value” as the others in the Best Buys. For...

Not a bad week from the donors this week, with a round score of 2270 from 21 players. This placed us at 24,194 for the round, and has us 2,408 places better off in the overall, at 20,123.
In our leagues we won three of five this week, in the Ucantbetooserios league, where we’re now 15th, Ucantbe TS (4th), and the TS WA League (10th), while we lost in TS Igotatheory to be 4th, and TS Pine Warmers where we’re 7th.

Where once there were 6, now there is only 5. That was the story of Round 12 of the ORFFL, as 5 of the 6 teams on 8 wins at the start of the round managed to keep it up and go to 9. Which means its still very tight at the upper reaches of the ORFFL ladder, and by tight I mean we have an intredasting last 5 weeks of the regular season to navigate.
Head over the break as we review the results of Round 12 and tell if and/or why your club is awesome/sucks chaos balls.

TARWIN LOWER PIGS 1160 Def by TORRUMBARRY THUNDA 1360
The Thunda of Torrumbarry continued on with their post-break form dispensing with fellow mid-tabler Tarwin Lower by a sizeable 200 points. Kerr (116, 2 game avg. 113) relishing playing for his new club without a hard tag, Douglas (99, 2 game avg. 100) relishing not being KOd in the first quarter. Goodes (148) and BadBoyBernie (124) had crackers for Torrumbarry, while Higgins (104) reminded ORFFL watchers of what he is capable of. Thats right, scoring a century with disarming infrequency.
Over at Tarwin Lower it was a case of being nowhere near enough being nowhere near good enough. NRoo (117) managed his 7th century for the season, and Hanley (119) his 6th, but without Pendles, the TLPs midfield is in dire straits. Failing to reach 300 when the league average is 377 should send alarm bells ringing through the club. Sitting in 12th, 2 games behind 11th, TLPs finals dreams could be over if they dont arrest this slide.

Sitting in 12th, 2 games behind 11th, TLPs finals dreams could be over if they dont arrest this slide.

POOWONG POTOROOS 1112 Def COULTA COULDABEENS 1086
Twas a strange match this one. Verily. Relief for Poowong as they got up by just 26 points, and no doubt some degree of frustration for...
Wow, a horrible week for us this week. Im hearing 2400s, 2500s, but with some inspiring performances from Rockliff, Tippett, McDonald, Giles and Broughton- combines with a lack of Thompson, Goodes, Pavlich, Cox, Priddis, Cyril or Chappy- we didnt even break the 2000 mark. Massively diverse week this week.

Collingwood vs Carlton
Result: Carlton by 23, 12.13.85 to 8.14.62
They. Were. The navy Blues, they were the ol dark- and so on. They also put in a Ratten-saving performance as they put the Pies to the sword with greater accuracy. Third quarter, they tried their darnest to give it back, kicking just 1.7- But they had enough in the tank, despite a couple of injuries, particularly subbing out Hampson early, to kick away in the 4th and create an even closer season than before. Great stuff.
7 Blues scored the ton, with Judd top scorign with 32 touches, 126SC and 3 brownlow votes. There was a lot of points shared though, with Carrazzo, Gibbs, Robinson and most importantly for his owners, Kreuzer all doing the job for their coaches.
Duigan go himself swung forward, and while putting on 3 goals for 79SC- the most important factor for mine is ability it leaves for Kreuzer to spend more time in the ruck. That bloke needs to play in the ruck, and while Im sure the stories of him playing injured arent exagerated, the Blues need wins -and with Krooze in the middle, they look their most dangerous.
Blair top scored for the pies with a 116SC, while Swan and Shaw both combined for 112SCs
If you were forced to field a few of the Pie rookies this week, namely Elliot and Williams, you would have been a little disappointed based to prior form. Just a 40SC and 27SC between them. Thought the latter did get himself injured.
Heroes: Judd

What does a panda, a chicken, Forrest Gump and the Hulk all have in common?
They’re all inspiration for victory salutes by young 22 year-old Slovakian, Peter Sagan, who has taken this Tour by storm. He is an excitement machine, has more tricks and gadgets in his arsenal than most riders and already at a young age he is a monster on the bike, his potential huge, he is already delivering with three stage victories, and he could win the Malliot Vert in his first Tour. Impressive. As the Tour finally hits the mountains and the all important Overall battle starts read on for the report of the first week of racing and fantasy results.

[span style="text-decoration: underline">Tour De France Summary
Prologue
First day of Le Tour and it was a short 6.4km time trial that got le Grande Boucle underway. A super fast time from Aussie Brett “Burt” Lancaster saw him post the early best time from Andrey Grivko. He eventually finished 6th on the stage as Edvald Boasson Hagen (hereafter referred to as EBH) and home-tour favourite Sylvain Chavanel bettered the time.
A few of the predicted favourites faltered, as Peter Sagan stuffed up a corner, only saving it with his superb bike-handling skills and Tony Martin had a mechanical but still managed to only finish 20 seconds down on the winner. That winner was Fabian Cancellara, an absolute force in prologues over the last few years and did it by “smashing” Tour favourite Bradley Wiggins time by 7 seconds to finish the course in 7’13” (massive average speed of 53km/h+). Cadel Evans managed a respectable 13th, 17 seconds off the winner and 10 behind rival Wiggins.
Stage 1
A quiet start to the first road stage as they did a long loop around Liège and the Walloon countryside. The most notable thing from the break of the day was the fairly anonymous Danish track-rider, Michael Morkov winning enough KOM points to be the first holder of that jersey.
