TooSerious
For those who take it way too seriously
Two rounds into the byes and how are we finding it?
Me, Im very happy with how I balanced my team around it, but am finding it extremely frustrating that each injury, and late withdrawal, is an instant donut. Just seems to bring a little too much luck to the equation for mine.
Anyways, before I move onto the review, I just wanted to note something about the results-
Excluding the easybeats (sorry GWS amd Brisbane), the winners of every game this week, scored themselves a bye last week- in particular, that Adelaide/Saints game- just cant help but wonder how it would have gone had last weeks bye teams played each other this week, rather than giving one side a significant advantage leading into the game.
But hey, thats just me perhaps- the review is over the break.

Result: West Coast by 10, 10.19.79 to 10.9.69
Yep, this was meant to be the first of many games this weekend where I could tutt and jump on my usual bandwagon of teams losing simply because they couldnt kick straight.
But no, out of the 5 games this week in which the team with the most scoring shots was horribly inaccurate, they all ended up getting over the line.
This game was no exception, with West Coast registering a 10 behind win.
Naitanui was an utter gun. 25 disposals, 185SC and pretty much a lock in my squad next year Im thinking. The man is an utter freak and a beast and you just cant help but love to see him out of the field. I want to enjoy that, without worrying about my opponent carrying him!
His partner in crime, Cox did pretty well for himself with a 14 touch 132SC, while Selwood split the middle with a very tidy 33 disposals and 155SC, all the while completely toweling up the Juddmeister.
Priddis rewarded those coaches who jumped on him this week, picking up 30 touches (23 handballs) and a 131SC.
For the Blues, they got two of their core back this week in Carrazzo...

Reduced teams this week in the mighty ORFFA didnt stop some classic matches this week including a couple of nail biters at Marble Bar and Iron Knob. Mawson only manage to get 7 on the park with predictable results. Join me on a magical mystery keeper league tour over the page break........<!--more-->
Marble Bar 761 defeated Waikimoocow 721
The Misfits get a win a home in close one in which an eleven men on the field incident costs the Kiwis the points.
Iron Knob 599 defeated Nunawading 536
The codpieces steal one at home here. Nuna unlucky to not record their first win here and one would imagine the axe will swing repeatedly at Springvale Rd before the mid season draft.
Mount Beauty 858 defeated Namatjira 719
The pride of the Kiewa Valley notch up another win at Lakeside Avenue over a once again unlucky Nungas. BL should take some heart as they arent playing that badly and surely must break through soon. And they arent as bad as Nuna.
Charlies Opening 747 lost to Gariwerd 805
The Cockies back on the winners list down at the Pit, despite a plethora of Dees players. Spelunkers brave in defeat despite only fielding 9 players.
Mawson Base 641 lost to Birdsville 700
Despite a mix up involving a glacier, a harp seal and most of the Mawson side which resulted in only 7 players getting on the park, the Penguins just go down to the Battlers. Credit where its due, as going from Birdsville to the Antarctic not the easiest of acclimatisations.
Cradle Mountain 804 defeated Whitsundays 700
Jude Bolton again turning back the clock this week as the Devils knock over the Warriors. Jake Carlisle into the ruck a forced move which didnt come off for the Whitsundays coach with Tomahawk not doing him any favours either.
Gundagai 709 lost to Darraweit Guim 837
The Hoppers hopes pretty much went down like a sack of excrement about the same time Sandi did in the first quarter. In a match where...

Round 11 recap: Ablett. What the? What happened? Just as I was touting the return of the perma-captain, he responds with a disinterested 64 SC points. I am again rushed for time – especially with tonight’s game so here are the numbers with a quick reminder how the captain’s loophole works.
Due to the partial lockout, we can select a player from the Eagles or the Blues as our vice-captain. If we are unhappy with their score, we can simply select our captain from anyone left in our team who haven’t yet played in that round. If, however, we are happy with the score from our nominated vice-captain, we put the captaincy onto a non-playing player for the round. As this “captain” does not play and accumulate any points, the vice-captain will become the captain for the round.
Here are the numbers, firstly, for some of the players from tonight’s game …

Good morning all, and welcome to the Best Buys.
Last week I managed to cause a little confusion by including players with the bye round in the Best Buys, and so this week to make it a bit simpler we have an abridged version. Since the bye players from round 11 havent changed at all I have used the spiel about each of the recurrent ones from last week, and throw in some other guys, and this week I will not be including players who are missing due to the byes.
My tip of the week this week, is Matt Priddis. After a couple of injury affected scores his price has seen a massive drop this season to date and is now around 460 grand. His price will be on the rise from now, barring serious mishap, and for a player of his talents he must at least be considered. Will be a very popular option from here on, but the fact that many SC coaches only have one or two midfield spots left mean whichever bargain is grabbed could make all the difference.
After some pure carnage last round, where 1500 was almost always a winner, a lot of coaches will be hoping to get some semblance of decency into their scores, but with the round 12 bye teams being Coll, Ess, Fre, Gee, Mel, and Syd there is sure to be more pain on the way. With the way this year has gone so far, some clever trading and a whole lot of luck could really vault someone into contention.
As with last week Im sure there will be some games played at the selection tables around the traps, but hopefully the AFL coaches will show a little more mercy this week and at least leave in their rookies for us.
So, for the shortened Best Buys and all your thumb needs, join me over the break.

Sorry for the late post, but the Bye mayhem has not been the only mayhem in Perth this week! We scored 1501 points this week, ranking us 55,793 for the round, and bringing us back inside the top 10,000 to be placed 9,360 over-all. In our leagues we copped it left, right, and centre, winning just one game! We’re now ranked 15th in Ucantbetooserious, 2nd in both Ucantbe TS and TS Igotatheory, 4th in TS Pine Warmers, and 11th in the TS – WA league.
We had a total of 17 players score points for us, so 5 on-field donuts to munch down on, along with the eight on the bench! Join me over the break to see the culprits, expected and disappointingly unwanted...<!--more-->

Jobe Watson has shot to the lead in the race for this years Brownlow Medal, picking up his second BOG in a losing side in as many weeks. The Essendon captain has now accumulated 19 votes for the season - surpassing the 16 & 15 votes he has collected over the past 2 years.
His main 4 rivals have failed to fire a shot in the last 3 weeks, however last years winner returned from injury in style, picking up his 4th BOG for the year, and remains 6 votes off the pace.

Donuts, bullets, more donuts, late withdrawals, injuries and more donuts. What a horrid week in Supercoach!
Seriously, we all knew it was going to be bad- but seriously, there are teams that arent even going to break 1000 this week.
Hopefully that isnt you, and your 1500+ manages to move you up a few spots this week!
Let us know how youve faired, over the break.

For the first time in a few weeks, I reckon Carlton lost one here that they really should have won. Im not saying Geelong were bad though, or that they didnt deserve the win, but really, a 2.9 final quarter really did the damage - dropping them out of the top8 for the first time this year.
Simpson top scored for the Blues with a 113SC, with Judd the only other Blue to ton up on a 105SC.
Gibbs was *meant* to be freed up to play through the middle with all of the Carlton outs- and considering he could score 81SC off just 11 touches, hes obviously still got the potential. But Ratten man, youre killing him! Reckon hell be a very interesting proposition next year, particularly if Ratten goes!
Kreuzer - youve done my team pretty well- but sadly, its not looking great for the man. I dunno, he doesnt quite look right out there, and Im starting to think that hell need an upgrading soon. Just need to find a ruck that wont get injured!
For the catters, Selwood was awesome. 27 disposals and a massive 154SC.
Funny thing is, while there were 6 cats to score the ton- outside of Selwood, I reckon any cats you had would have disappointed with Johnson (60), Hawkins (55) and Enright (49) being the chief offenders!
Heroes: Selwood, Scarlett
Villians: Gibbs, Robinson, Kreuzer, Johnson, Hawkins, Enright
Richmond vs Fremantle
Result: Fremantle by 12, 12.6.78 to 9.12.66
Now, I havent jumped...
Seriously, we all knew it was going to be bad- but seriously, there are teams that arent even going to break 1000 this week.
Hopefully that isnt you, and your 1500+ manages to move you up a few spots this week!
Let us know how youve faired, over the break.

Welcome to the winter special influenza edition of ORFFA, which is going to be fairly brief, given that Ive been coughing up some interesting colours today. This is in keeping with the reduced squad sizes this week as we bravely play through the bye rounds. Continue reading over the break to find out how many doughnuts Mawson can manage in a side stacked with North players..............<!--more-->
Marble Bar v Waikikamoocow
Youd have to be on the Kiwis to back up their big win from last week, given the recent form of Marble Bar. The only factors might be the huge 6000 km road trip to get there and baking heat. Mind you it is winter at Marble Bar.
Iron Knob v Nunawading
Iron Knob scored 1419 and LOST last week. Given that Nuna managed a princely 825 last round, the Codpieces might just get over the line this week.
Mt Beauty v Namatjira
The Uglies flying at the moment, whilst the Nungas unlucky to get beaten last week and still searching for that elusive first win.
Charlies Opening v Gariwerd
The Cockies just cant seem to get home in the close ones, and have played much better than their ladder position would suggest. The Spelunkers need a win at the Pit to climb back into the eight.
Mawson Base v Birdsville
Only looking at about 9 making it on the field for Mawson this week due to a surfeit of Kangaroos players. Birdsville needing a win to stay in touch and they just might get one this week down at the Freezer. Weather is forecast for fine and is currently -28 C, so it could be a day for the long sleeves.
Cradle Mountain v Whitsundays
The Warriors whisked away from their sub tropical paradise and the delights of the Tiki Bar to a snowy mountaintop to face a good side. Draw your own conclusions as to the likely result.
Gundagai v Darraweit Guim
Match of the round here, with the Guim travelling up the Hume. Sandi v Mullet in a cracking ruck duel which may well decide the...
