For those who take it way too seriously

Wow-chika-bow-WOW! A corker of a round in the ORFFL with five matches being decided by less than 40 points. as well as the most DOMINANT performance in ORFFL history. More on that later. Ive got a severe case of man flu, so lets skip the foreplay and go straight to the scores.

TARWIN LOWER PIGS 1236 Def MILIKAPATI SNAKES 1175

Tarwin Lower needed a win this week, and a win they received, defeating Milikapati by 78 points. The Pigs were ravenous; Pendles and HMac both scoring 140, with Hocking (113) and Giles (114) also chipping in with fine hungies. This win takes Tarwin Lower to 2-3 and up into 9th spot with a healthy avg. of 1220.

On the other side, Milikapati dropped a match that they wouldve fancied winning going into the round. At 3-2 and in 6th spot, too much was left to too few, with only Lids (129), Gaff (103) and Duffman (95) posting scores worthy of being pinned up on the fridge. Their coach, Liam Johnson (?), must be sweating on the return of top-liners Kelly, Hurley and Birch; they need their quality players on the park to compete consistently.

POPANYINNING PYRITE 1088 Def by POOWONG POTOROOS 1220

Poowong proved that theyre not a one man team on the weekend, downing Popanyinning by 132 points. Scotty Thompson (the RADelaide one) and TommaHawkins led the way with 141 and 139 respectively, but a large supporting cast in Murphy (81), Jamar (95), Darling (106), Mzungu (97) and the Sherminator (112) all playing their respective parts in victory. Jones (39) on the other hand looks like hes had his card marked, and will be lucky to play another game for the Potoroos while JDog is coach. Disappointing.

Their opponents in Popanyinning showed great courage (pumps fist) and pluck, but ultimately werent good...
I dunno man, I think we made a mockery of the SC gods last year, with our 2300 averages in the first few weeks, and our upgrading our bench coverage to premiums.

I think theyre getting there own back, and they are taking us all with them- yet another week where 2100 was a good effort!

Anyways, check out how it all went down, over the break.

Collingwood vs Essendon

Result: Collingwood by 1, 11.14.80 to 11.13.79

It was mid week, with both teams coming off just a 4 day break, but that certainly didnt stop them from delivering an absolute cracker of a match. For the whole match, Collingwood keep inching out in front, only to have the Bombers sneak a few quick ones to bring the margin back down- culminating in a Stanton goal to put the Bombers in front with 2 minutes remaining. 30 seconds later, Blair soccered one through (after confirmation from the camera), to take the win for the Magies. Great game.

Swan was massive. 42 disposals, 20 contested touches and 3 goals saw him accumulate a massive 180SC, with his partner in crime, Pendlebury hot on his heels with 34 touches, 17 contested and a 140SC.

Absolute pie hogs with only 2 other Magpies breaking the ton Sidebottom (104) and Jolly (100).

Beams looks to be bouncing into some form which should level out his fall with a 98SC off 32 touches.

Clarke did enough for his owners with a 69SC off 13 touches, beating out the forward premium Travis Cloke who could only manage a 68SC from his 3 goals. Seriously, kicked a quarter of his teams score for a "below average" game.

Heppell and Zaharakis were fantastic, knocking up scores of 116SC and 113SC, to provide a tidy return to their owners, while Ryder knocked up another ton with a 104SC.

Watson was below average for his standards with just 93SC, but it was Stanton who will have the hecklers out in force this week, just 13 touches...
After a whirlwind of an NBA season, the playoffs are now about to start. As the title suggests, The Bulls and Spurs have clinched home court advantage throughout the playoffs - and Patty Mills is in career best form leading into the playoffs for those Spurs. I have not been able to get the Grand Final reviews up since our fantasy NBA season finished a few weeks ago, and Steve sent me a gentle reminder today, so I reckon theres no time like the present. Over the break later will be the reviews, but right now, I would like to congratulate Jasmine for winning the Premier League; Steve for winning Division 1; and Jet for winning Division 2. Well done to the 3 of you and to the other 33 teams that played as it was a fun season.

Before we get to the reviews, I want to spend a bit of time on Patty Mills, as he has been in excellent form of late. He was signed by the Spurs in March after the Chinese season came to a close and he has played 16 games this season. Over all 16 games he has averaged 10.3 ppg, 2.4 apg, 1.8 rpg and 0.6 spg in just 16.3 mpg; however he has had some huge games along the way. He started April off by scoring 20 pts in 20 min against the Cavs connecting on 4 of 5 treys, and then followed that up with a 14 pt game against New Orleans a few nights later. 3 nights after that, he earned his first starting gig when Duncan, Ginobli and Parker were all rested against the Jazz and Patty scored 9pts and had 4 dimes in 24min. He scored 9 points on two other occasions during April, but did not hit double figure pts again until the next time he started, which was the 2nd last game of the regular season against Phoenix last Wednesday. The big 3 did not play in this game again and Patty put on a show, scoring 27 pts and dishing off 5 dimes in 34 min - including 2 FTs near the death that clinched the 4 point win for the Spurs.

This super impressive performance earnt him another start this morning (our time) against the Warriors and he stepped...
I love this time of the season! So much to play for ...title race, top 4 finish (or is it now top 3?*), relegation battles and then theres the sub-plots. Will Ferdinand snap JT? Tevez - who has been as popular in Manchester this year as Matthew Newton would be at a Miami hotel - given an opportunity to ride horseback out of Manchester (the blue half anyway) with a winners medal after putting Utd to the sword. Theres only three weeks to go and were in for a big weekend of action...<!--more-->

WBA v Villa

Villa had a real chance to distance themselves from the relegation zone when they took on Bolton at Villa Park. They failed. Bolton took the spoils. Villa are deep in it now, and unlike Bolton, Blackburn, QPR and Wigan they’ve forgotten how to win.

WBA had an excellent win at Anfield that might have carried more kudos in a different season.

Fortune should be back while Dunne has declared himself fit for Villa.

Wigan v Newcastle

Wigan came crashing back down to earth with defeat at Fulham as some of their rivals picked up valuable points. Di Santo and Rodallega could miss but Crusat and Maloney should be available. Cisse is hoping to score for the 7th consecutive game, while his team are looking for their 7th consecutive win in their chase for 4th place (or is it 3rd?*)

Chelsea v QPR

Chelsea will most likely make more heavy changes after a magnificent back to the walls performance midweek against Barca. JT should be fresh after deciding he wanted a one hour rest in Barcelona.

Cahill, Luiz and Ivanovic (suspended) will miss out while Taarabt (suspended) plus Cisse and Diakite could all miss.

With the Terry-Ferdinand subplot, as well as two teams desperate for points in a local derby, this one could be tasty. Pre-match handshakes have been aborted to save JT the embarrassment of even more of his peers snubbing him.

Everton v Fulham

Everton got over their FA Cup disappointment with a sensational draw at Old Trafford. They went to...

A couple of nice ins this week, but there is definitely a bit of a sting in the tail of the outs.

Hall and Kennedy out in the forward line, Bower and Mohr out in the backline- and suddenly our coverage is looking a little tame. Thank goodness Lake and Birchall hve come back for a little relief in our backlines, while Goodes is back for our forwards.

Sandilands is going to hurt rucks, particularly those who moved Mumford (who after surgury is looking at 4 weeks). Orren and Redden are still no shows- so its going to be donut town for a few of the 1-0-3 rucking combos this week I think.

Ins: Fyfe, Greene, Coniglio, Lake, Horsley, Grimes, Smedts, Birchall, Goodes
Outs: Sandilands, Bower, Mohr, Kennedy, Goldstein, Ablett, Hall
Extended Bench: Parker, Pfeiffer

Full teams are over the break.

Well, this is certainly different to the usual captains log.

Firstly, because Jasmine has been waylaid on one of her usual international trips of mystery, suffering what I understand to be some catastrophic damage to her laptop.

And secondly, with me just about to leave the house- Im completely unprepared!!!

But fear not, as over the break, Ill do a terrible job of things, and open the floor to you guys for the partial lockout.

<!--more-->

Before disappearing, Jasmine did tell me that her numbers for both Pendles and Swan were extremely favourable against the Bombers. And that she was leaning toward locking in Pendles for that lovely VC position.

But me, being the completely impartial judge that I am, have got to say that the Bombers are a different outfit this year, and youd be loathed not to lock in Brent "The perma captain" Stanton. Gun.

Wellity, wellity, well. Another Friday rolls around and another weekend of ORFFL action gets underway. Correction: has already gotten underway (is gotten a word, geez it's ugly. I feel shame). Injuries and disappearances (where did I park the good ship, S.S Kepler?), continue to trouble coaches, but I think peeps are finallycoming around to the reality that a fit list preseason means YSCC Jack after 4 rounds of actual competition. And I suppose it would be somewhat remiss of me not to mention the start up rebel competition formed over the week, the ORFFA. Good luck little brother, may you learn from our pioneering footsteps. NOW WITH HAME DAY UPDATES

<!--more-->Just a small not before we get on to the match previews: the emergency system has undergone a slight change.

If you select two emergencies in the same line (eg. 2 DEF emergencies), you will get the first emergencies score if only one player from your starting 15 doesn't play (as opposed to the lowest scoring emergency it was previously). Why did we do this? Because that's the way walesy coded it, and it achieves the same aim of stopping coaches from loading up emergencies for the highest score.

TARWIN LOWER PIGS(Avg. 1217) 1073/13 VSMILIKAPATI SNAKES (1274)573/8

Tarwin Lower desperately need a win to stay in contention with the top 8, but are going to find it hard going against the 3rd highest scoring team in Milikapati. On their side is the fact that Pendles has already gorged himself at the points trough, and that Snakes' Clarke (52) and LEEROY (59) put in underwhelming performances on Wednesday. On the other hand though, Milikapati scored a very respectable 1251 last weekend without defensive pillar Birchall, and he slithers back into the side this week. Tipping...
