Brogie is an Arsenal man. Brogie is in England terms "A northern spud" a bloke that knows alot and says little..............Is said to know what happened to Shergar ???. Dont know if he walks with a limp but is a match hardened coach that can go "left field". As the pykies would say "A sneaky shyt"

Its a heavy Easter schedule of EPL action coming up with the first game tonight (Friday) and a  second round of matches concluding by Wednesday. Ill look ahead to the 1st round of games here so join me over the break...  <!--more-->

Man Utd v QPR

QPR’s delight at beating Arsenal last week was compounded by this weekend’s opponents United beating relegation rivals Blackburn. This in turn has taken QPR out of the relegation zone on goal difference.

They’ve had a massive couple of weeks with their comeback win against Liverpool as well as their impressive and deserved win against the previously rampant Gunners. Beating a relentless United team hell-bent on keeping their noisy neighbours in their place is an entirely different proposition altogether.

It might not be a vintage United side but the result and the manner it was achieved with two late goals was classic United. They’ve now won 12 from 13 and have a 5pt lead over City.

Jones is fit again and last week played midfield. Nani has a small chance of some game time.

Arsenal v Man City

I tipped City to win the league this year but this was before their near capitulation in the glare of the media. This game really is the last chance saloon for them and even if City can somehow lift themselves for an away game it is hard to imagine Wenger’s team not busting a gut against the likes of Nasri and co.

Lescott could be back as could Aguero after the medical team put him out of action with a foot spray.

Swansea v Newcastle

Two of the seasons success stories face off at The Liberty. Swansea’s home/away win ratio has seen quite a turn-around in recent times. March Player of the Month  Sigurdsson – whose six goals have all come away from home – has been a huge part of this. Despite losing two of their last three home games, they’ll be strong opponents.

Caulker will be available again, while Dyer will be champing at the bit to reclaim his spot back in the team. Newcastle who are 3pts closer...

MOUNT BUGGERY DISAPPOINTMENTS930/12 vsPOPANYINNING PYRITE1153/13

This weekend we find the boys of Popanyinning travelling up the Mountain of Buggery looking for Fool's Gold. Will they get it? Or instead be met with Disappointment? This game has many such questions left unanswered, but that seems to be in vogue at the mo', so I'm not going to feel guilty for not answering them. One thing I would like to see is Stanton repeat his performance of last Saturday night. If only to stick it up those Essendon supporters.

QUEENSTOWN QUOLLS1218 vsCOULTA COULDABEENS 1019/12

The Quolls, still nursing the gravel rash suffered at their hometown last weekend have the chance to salve their wounds and redeem themselves in front of their fellow Queenstownonians. The question for the travelling Couldabeens is whether or not they will persist in the revolutionary strategy of resting players before they've even played a game, in order to have them cherry ripe for finals later in the year. I heard murmurings from the fat mess this week that he considered this behaviour 'arrogant, and, selfish'. On the other hand I may have just misheard what was a build up of gas escaping from his 'wafer thin' lips.

So, its an extra long weekend this one, and a partial lockout to boot.

Dont forget to reverse any trades you might want to before the partial, because they get locked in tonight! And if you do reverse em, dont forget to set your captains/emergencies cause they get reset too!!

The join us in the <a href="http://tooserious.net/live_scores.php?page=gameday&id=10251077&process=live">live chat tonight to catch the game, as always, it should be a bit of fun.
Round 1 recap: Ablett was my choice last week (and I am thinking that the masses did the same) and he didn’t disappoint with a very solid 139. My second choice was Cox who only managed 110 against the Bulldogs which would have disappointed many after his mammoth scores of 213 and 149 against them last season. My fourth choice of Scott Thompson continued his great form against the Suns with 147 (following up scores of 162 and 136 last season). The risky pick of Franklin would have made everyone happy as he managed a great 142 against the Tarrant-less Magpies.

Round 1 regrets: All my picks for the captain’s loophole failed with Mumford (95), Goodes (90) and Judd, who was my third choice, (94) all underperforming.

Now to Round 2, and the captain’s loophole is open again with the early game of Brisbane against Carlton tonight. The candidates for the loophole would be Judd, Murphy or Rockliff. The numbers begin over the break …

Notes: Solid and consistent record against the Lions with no scores below 100. Last year played head to head against Power and the year before was matched up against Rich. Started the season slowly with 94 from 26 touches last round.

Hi all,

No surprises when looking at the leading team in Overall Supercoach, and seeing it full of Crows.  It was likely to be a Crow/Swan party given the teams they were up against.

Still, do we have anything to learn from choosing Crows?  They do look like they are in stellar form in the off-season, they have a good coach with a grip on the modern game, trained in the Geelong school, not the possibly inferior Westpac Centre hothouse.   The Adelaide team of 2011 certainly underachieved, and with Neil Craig given the shift, they even showed some fight under Bickley, who many were surprised didnt get an ongoing job.  Must have been something about giving Gunston the best young player...

So, by going Adelaide midpricers early, can you get a legitimate jump on the field?   Possibly.  The Crows do have a delicious early run.  Thing is, it could get a little more tricky later in the year,  and the players relied upon by this team might then be found wanting.

Anyway, heres the overall leader, "CarntheCrows", scoring 2452 in Round 1:

D: Goddard, Yarran, Bugg, R Murphy, Mohr, Guthrie, Hunt (Ellis, Tomlinson)

M: Pendlebury, Ablett, JP Kennedy, M Murphy, Sloane, Dangerfield (A Kennedy, Hoskin-Elliott)

R: Leuenberger, Giles (Redden, Stephenson)

F: Tippett, Franklin, J Riewoldt, Walker, Cloke, Porplyzia, Hall (Smith, Dickson)

A quick analysis of the team over the break

<!--more-->

This teams structure is interesting.  Only one legitimately good defender, with Yarran/Murphy seen as the boys needed to step up.  Its risky, and when Scotland, Birchall, Broughton and Shaw hit their straps, that could prove fatal.

The midfield is strong.  Full of the three great options (Pendles, GAJ, Murphy), but comprising two very good up and comers in JPK and Sloane.   One could even think its Hornsys team going by the midfield alone.

Leuenberger is a risk, but showed that hes not just a one-trick pony.  Its a shame he didnt show this the last few years...
Chris88 has sent through a quick discussion piece on rookies. Have a read, a get in your input- at an interesting topic early days.

A key aspect to a successful Supercoach team is the ability to nab the right rookie priced players in order to fund premium player acquisitions throughout the season.

Like the stockmarket, the "buy low, sell high" mantra is the one Supercoach players always have to follow. After all, Supercoach is merely a glorified trading game where the aim is to increase the value of your team and, in turn, its scoring power.

And over the past couple of years or so we have definitely been spoiled for choice when it comes to rookies.

<!--more-->

Weve had some great rookie cash cows in recent years - Barlow and Broughton out west, Bradd Dalziell (theres a name), Daniel Rich, Trengove and Scully, Martin, Heppell, the Gold Coast crew from 2011 ... and many many more. In addition there has always seemed to be some good older players at rookie prices to consider - Beau Waters and Matt Maguire spring to mind in recent years.

But this year, despite the presence of another club full of rookies (GWS), there seems to be a lot fewer standout rookie-priced selections to choose from.

With a few notable exceptions, the rookie crop over pre-season and into Round 1 looks distinctly underwhelming.

A number of GWS players have shown plenty of potential, but outside of that there are precious few rookies that stand out immediately as viable cash cows. Also, there are virtually no rookie-priced older players this year to supplement the ranks.

And a few of the "rookie" options arent exactly cheap - Wingard, Coniglio, Guthrie, etc.

Worse still, there doesnt seem to be a whole heap of potential rookie downgrade options presenting themselves either - a role a player like Mzungu filled beautifully last year, or Liam Anthony in years past.

And we all know what can happen if you trade your happily mooing cash cow rookie down...
So without any ado, The following teams are playing off for the big prizes: In Premier League, its <a title="Run TMC (Owen Beebe)" href="http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?leagueId=23530&amp;teamId=19&amp;seasonId=2012" target="_top">Run TMC (Owen) v <a title="Jasmines Mob (Jasmine Johnson)" href="http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?leagueId=23530&amp;teamId=5&amp;seasonId=2012" target="_top">Jasmines Mob (Jasmine); Division 1: <a title="Crossy Crusaders (Jesse Cross)" href="http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?leagueId=10094&amp;teamId=9&amp;seasonId=2012" target="_top">Crossy Crusaders (crossy) v <a title="Linsanity 17 (Stephen Nilsson)" href="http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?leagueId=10094&amp;teamId=4&amp;seasonId=2012" target="_top">Linsanity 17 (Steve); and Division 2: <a title="Team Farken White (Chris Farken White)" href="http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?leagueId=10201&amp;teamId=7&amp;seasonId=2012" target="_top">Team Farken White (Jet) v <a title="Team Travysboys (travis hewish)" href="http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?leagueId=10201&amp;teamId=9&amp;seasonId=2012" target="_top">Team Travysboys (travyboy11). Good luck to everyone involved.

We also have some big matches going on in regards to promotion/relegation too. Firstly, the aforementioned Division 1 granny is also to decide who joins <a title="The Jug-O-Naughts (Kristian Collins)" href="http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?leagueId=10094&amp;teamId=2&amp;seasonId=2012" target="_top">The Jug-O-Naughts (fez) in being promoted to Premier League next season. And it is still undecided who will be swapping places with them as dabombers has hit some form and has made it to the Consolation Ladder Granny against fudge, and a win for him will save him from the drop and send maggots on his way down to Division 1 - along with <a href="http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?teamId=2&amp;leagueId=23530">Too Seriouseses (walesy) who...

What a week it's been in ORFFL! Not only did we see some of the closest matches in ORFFL history, we're showing signs that we will dominate' that other game'; currently the 8th best league in SC. So give yourselves a clap and a pat on the back! At the same time! I know you can do it!

A review of the weekend's matches and the first official ORFFL ladder over the break.

But before we get to that, allow me to put on my Commish's hat and my maid's apron for a moment.

1) Changing the rules ish (as is my want as Commish). You now need to select your team EVERY WEEK.

The reason for this is two-fold. Firstly, it encourages people to be involved, and reminds them to think about who's been selected to play for the weekend.

Secondly, the ORFFL Team Selection page refreshes each week. So you sort of have to if you want to field a team ;)

2) As this as round has a Thursday and Friday lockout, the same rules will apply as in R1. If you want to field a player from Brisbane or Carlton, you need to select them before Thursday nights lockout.

Everyone else, you need to finalise their selection before the commencement of the next game.

3) It's a good idea to check that your team goes in as you wanted. You can do this by logging in a ORFFL_Admin and going to the ORFFL Team Selection page.

If for any reason it doesn't work as you'd like, feel free to send walesy or I your starting 15 and emergencies. Just do it before the lockouts.

4) And this is the most important point. Heed my words, read my OP. The excuse 'I didn't know' will not be tolerated.

Additionally, if you ask a question that's been answered in the OP, I will probably reply to your query. But I will also probably treat you with the unreserved disdain I feel you deserve.

Onward and...
