For those who take it way too seriously

What we have here is full list of current players that appear on their repsective clubs injury lists. Ive used few different avenues to try get complete list but i might be missing a fair few. Note the Fremantle one is taken from BigFooty as couldnt find anything anywhere else. Alot clubs dont have injury lists on their sites which is very annoying!

This list should hopefully help you work out who to scratch from your lists. Feel free to post any that ive missed and ill update the OP with it.

With the season starting in less than 10 days, regular commenter, Jason has taken the time to put together a list of everyone who as received a discount this year. Might be worth it to double check the list to see if you cant spot a little value that might have been overlooked now that the NAB is just about said and done.

There are 56 players listed for SuperCoach in 2012 that have been given discounts on their starting price, up from 51 players 2011. Again, the discounts on offer range from 50% down to 10% and the players come from all positions on the ground. Also like last year, only players with less than 8 games from the previous year have been eligible for a starting price discount.

Discounts do not necessarily go hand-in-hand with a player having been injured in 2011. There are some players who were clearly injured during some of 2011 but unfortunately didn’t miss enough games to attract a discount. And there are some players who just managed to debut quite late in season 2011 who have (somewhat arbitrarily) been given discounts on their starting price.

So who received a discount for 2012? Read on over the break to find out more.

Supercoach Season Preview 2012 - Geelong

2012 Supercoach Player Ranking Chart

2012 List Analysis:

Geelong is the reigning premier. That alone means that it deserves respect. The fact that they won last season when they were universally written off means that the sense of self-belief within the Cats ranks will be overflowing.

But the job of winning back-to-back isnt easy. Even the best team since the AFL has come into being (Cats won 3 of 5 seasons and an additional GF and PF) hasnt been able to win the double. Sure the Lions did - going b-t-b-t-b - but they only beat a weakened Collingwood outfit twice for their last two.

Geelong will have to do it without their skipper and stopper, Cameron Ling, and their talisman, Brad Ottens. Both will leave big holes, which really cant be filled. Thing is, the Cats still have a fully intact defence, which helps when it includes Scarlett. They have a brilliant forward division, who are able to move into the midfield and add a depth that is envious. The real only area of concern is the ruck, which after enjoy a GF win thanks in part to the West-Ottens double team of Jolly, makes one think that they need to pluck another Podsiadly in the big fella Orren Stephenson.

Geelongs list rating is 42 and a depth of 20. This ranks their list at 7th best in the competition, and the depth is 10th. This in terms of peak ability is a surprise to me, and indicates that losing two key players will be a big struggle. With Ling/Ottens the Cats would have been ranked =3rd with Carlton. Depth is not a surprise though, and thats why Brad Scott has been talking up players like Stephenson, Guthrie, Hogan and Smedts.

Supercoach Season Preview 2012 - Gold Coast

2012 List Analysis:

The Gold Coast Suns did well last season. Lets face it many thought they wouldnt win a game, when in fact they were able to almost send a traditional powerhouse in Port Adelaide to the wooden spoon. Only the Adelaide Oval comeback stole the Suns that very handy early pick. And they used it well, on the J BOMB who will be on our screens from next season.

So what do we look for from Gold Coast this season? Id say a year not unlike Brisbanes of last year. Lots of losses, with a bit more honour this season, and not many wins. And that means probably only their two elites in Bock and Ablett will remain so. Rischitelli might step up, but its a might considering hes still shouldering a big load in the middle.

When Danny Stanleys your best forward, you know youre in trouble, and thats why Bock has been sent up there. Its easier to make a defender from scratch (or draft a Warnock) than to have a top quality forward. This means Tippett is surely a huge target for the Suns when they get him for their 3rd rounder (or something similar) next season. Find another few talls from their ranks and they could climb to near the 8 in 2013. But yeah, nowhere near it in 2012.

Gold Coasts list rating is 30 and a depth of 17. This ranks their list at 17th best in the competition (no surprise), and the depth is 14th best. The battle for this year at Gold Coast is turning those lower-mids and mid-price players into upper-mids and premiums. Easier said than done, but a lot of the players on the Suns list are top quality stock of the draft table. They just need time and good...
You guys may have been wondering where Walesy has been of late.

Well, after 32 hours of labour, Jo has knocked out the latest in clan Walesy.

Really, a massive effort on her part!

Baby and mother are both well, and needless to say, the newsletter is getting pushed back a week!

Thank goodness he didnt wait 10 more days... Might have had to disown him early!
Yes, weve now made it to the last round of the season, and theres still finals spots up for grabs. In Premier, the top 4 are safe, and the next 6 are fighting it out for the last two playoff spots. In Division 1, the top 5 are safe and there are really only 2 sides - LiQuiD_SiXx and Stowie - that could still claim the last spot in finals. and in Division 2, the top 5 are also safe, with just two teams - joellamerton and maxweas - fighting for the last spot as well.

So Premier Division have the most live games this week - in terms of teams who may or may not still make finals. For the 6 teams that still dont know if theyll make it or not, here are their schedules:

5th - Run TMC (5-5) 15391 pts - playing Robert Sarvers Handbag (4th)

7th - Ruddys Cavaliers (5-5) 14330 pts - playing Team HEAVER! (1st)

8th - ant hak (5-5) 14264 pts - playing Adelaide Maggots (11th)

In Division 1, the two teams hoping to gain the final spot are as follows:

2012 List Analysis:

Necessity breeds invention, and in making the 8 last season, Essendon was nothing if not inventive in getting there. Losing Gumbleton, Prismall, Winderlich and Lovett-Murray to big injuries meant other alternatives had to be found.

Heppell, Hibberd, Crameri - these names shone through as the Bombers added a core to the top quality of Watson. It did enough to get Essendon through a difficult period midseason to be able to regroup and contest finals.

The Bombers list, therefore, is full of decent players across the board, everywhere except Elite. And thats the reason why Essendon will struggle to get anywhere better than 6th this season. The depth has been built, the base is there, but now is the time for a host of players to pick up and get to the peak of their talents. No more underachieving from Stanton, Myers, Monfries, Hurley and Ryder. And further growth needed from Heppell, Zaharakis, Hocking and Howlett.

Essendons best 22 ranks a score of 41 and have depth of 25 players. This ranks their best 22 in 10th, but they have the 2nd best depth. If we see growth in the natural curve from the talented individuals at Windy Hill, I can see the Bombers going late in the season and having finals success. If we dont, it will end up being enough of a battle just to stay in the 8. The pack behind them are chasing hard, and they have elite players at their disposal.

Supercoach Season Preview 2012 - Fremantle

2012 List Analysis:

Fremantle is a very difficult team to assess for a range of reasons.

Their best is very good. They have a collection of Elite players across the park. They have an exciting crop of young players, and a seasoned veteran core. They are now being coached by one of the leading strategists and motivators in the game, in Ross Lyon. They have no excuses for mediocrity this season.

And yet thats what, for the most part, this team of young talent frustrated us all with once Mark Harvey took an aging list and in a few short moves gave the refreshment necessary. The finals opportunity was granted in 2010, and they claimed a pretty decent scalp, that of the Hawks, to frank their ability. What followed in 2011 was nothing short of a nightmare, with a morbid finish once top 4 was taken from the equation, everything dissolved, and the 8 was too much to ask for.

Of course, there were injuries to very important personnel. Not content with losing Barlow for much of the year, Lady Luck took Sandilands and Mundy just when the team had some momentum.

So 2012 holds more questions than it does answers for Fremantle. Will Ross Lyon turn them into a stingy defensive bunch of misers? Most likely. Will that mean more points in the backline, like there was at St Kilda (Goddard, Fisher, Gilbert all chomped on tasty points)? Not certainly but quite possibly. Will Pavlich become the teams Nick Riewoldt, or is he already? Is he great at every level except the absolute pinnacle of the game? All these questions will be answered this year.

Fremantles list rating is 43 and a depth of 21....
Wow, there sure were a lot of smashing this week. I guess thats what happens when only a few teams can qualify, and other teams use the time to... experiment.

Anyways, onto the review...

Essendon vs Sydney

Result: Essendon by 2, 1.14.12 to 1.14.10

It was a good win for what was essentially a full strength Bombers outfit, but showed a bit of a worrying sign for potential forward premium Zaharakis. Only managed 11 possessions over just over a half a games gametime, but when he did have the ball, really didnt look in the same form as last year.

Stanton and Watson both got a lot of it, the latter was kicking at 100% efficiency! If he continues with that, hello super-premium! (ahem, we can dream cant we!?)

With Dempseys return, 17 touches and a very good first half, allowed Heppell to push further up the ground. Which worryingly, probably didnt help his scores very much, with 17 touches throughout the game.

Winderlich did alright for his first game back, picking up 7 touches in less than half a game. Not enough to select him, but certainly not too bad.

Luke Palmer has made a massive push for selection. I thought he was very good in collecting his 21 possessions.

StKildaThunda, Goodesy was putting you to shame early mate, but fell away a fair bit after that. Only 11 touches for a full game keep the jury out when it comes to a Goodes selection.

With Brown added to the LTI, Cunningham should earn the promotion, however, the question is- will his 3 touches from half a game be enough? There were two goals in that which is nice.

Malceski was great in the (just over) half game he played, 15 disposals with impecable touch certainly makes him an interesting selection.

Sub Effected: Hille, Hocking, McVeigh, Monfries, Winderlich, Jetta, Myers, Hooker, Bellchambers, Zaharakis, Carlisle, Howlett.
Sub Effected: Jack, Malceski,...

2012 List Analysis:

So near, but yet so far. Winning a premiership is difficult, but following it up the next season is nigh on impossible. Every other team comes at you, rule and game plan changes target your dominance, and complacency settles in like an unwanted bad smell. This is what confronted Collingwood in 2011, and they were not able to clear the minds of distractions enough to get the job done when it counted. Geelong was just too good when it counted.

However, a new season gives fresh opportunity to a team that would consider only one premiership from this generation of players to be an under-achievement. There is a new coach, Nathan Buckley, with a new fresh bunch of assistant coaches, after the main bulk of Malthouse assistants find themselves in the senior coaching ranks. It means there will likely be changes, but Collingwood will be trying to do this without throwing the baby with the bathwater. Its an immensely tough job for the new coach, I believe.

Collingwood has a strong list in all areas, with a small query on the ruck division, and possibly on backline talent (as distinct from the ability to shut-down an opposition team). Even though the depth looks a little thin in defence, there are players who do a significant role, such as Tarrant, Goldsack and N Brown, who are listed outside the main 22 on the list analysis, which means there are a few players to spare when the whips get cracking. This is important, as it is in depth where the Magpies and Cats will be tested by the Hawks in 2011, having been overtaken over the off-season.

Collingwoods list ranks a...
