For those who take it way too seriously

Just quickly, Ive just rolled the donor list over to the 2012 season.

Which means that if youve donated this year (or late last year), youll find yourself with access to all the donor features.

If you donated last year, but not yet this year, youll still have access to the donor forum for a bit, but the other donor features around the site will be gone.

And if you havent donated, what are you waiting for!! :D
Alright guys, the stats pages have been rolled over into the 2012 season. So its at this time that Id like to once again, do a quick run through of the functionality that we have here at TS.

Well, at least give you a walk through of the Stats and Players features!

Join us over the break to read more. (Heck, even if you think you know every in and out of this place, youll still probably find the recap refreshing. And hey, theres important info at the bottom of the post.)

<!--more-->

So, lets take a look at the stats page, actually, first, well look at the Filter.

<div style="float:left"><img src="http://tooserious.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/TS_Filter.png" width="470px">

Now, when people first come here, I tend to get a few questions on the Filter - but its quite simpler than it looks. Just remember, that each field you click on will restrict the players that come back! So if you click on CAR, youll get Carlton players. If you then click on "DEF", youll get Carlton defenders. Then if you remove the Carlton filter by clicking on All, it will just show defenders.

On trick, if youre quick enough, is to click on multiple filters at once. This will apply all the filters at once and make it faster for you to get to the data you want!

And speaking of said data, lets take a look.

<div style="float:left"><img src="http://tooserious.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/TS_StatsResults.png" width="470px">

From this screen, you have access to a lot of statistic, more than you might imagine. However, the key statistic that youll need for your day-to-day fantasy play are there in front of you. The most important of these throughout the year are the Break Even column and the Salary Movement fields (Next Round and Movement 3 Rounds). These fields inform you what a player needs to score next week in order to *not* lose any salary, however, it also shows you the effect on salary a player will get next week if they score to their average again. Yes, yesterday...  I hope that people either knew about the lockout being so early in the day on a Thursday, or took notice of <a href="http://tooserious.net/wednesday-night-nbl/comment-page-1#comment-115786" target="_blank">my comment I posted yesterday morning, and set their team up for Round 18. I know I DIDNT :( . Silly, but its true...   anyway, Ive ended up with Kazzough as my starting C this week haha; but luckily, as I focused on in <a href="http://tooserious.net/wednesday-night-nbl" target="_blank">last weeks thread, the Crocs have another double gameweek this week, so my captain choice of Mims is still relevant.

We had a blockbuster to kick off this round, as Perth travelled over to NZ with both teams going into the game on the same amount of wins and losses at the top of the ladder, and a couple of games clear of the 3rd placed Crocs. NZ won it in a tight one, 83 to 77 with a great team effort as 5 players scored in double figures, including DDs to Vukona (11p, 10r, 2s) and Jackson (15p, 10a, 4r, 2s). CJ Bruton should also get a mention for racking up 14 pts in less than 10 min. For the Cats, Lisch (20p, 5r), Redhage (15p) and Neville (14p, 6r) all continued their great recent form; however they could not get enough help this time - especially from 6th man Jesse Wagstaff, who has been in excellent form of late and was touted as the one that would get the W for Perth in the papers over here, but could only manage 2 pts and 5 boards to total Negative 12 fantasy points! (in my starting lineup :( )

We have 4 more games this round, with 2 tonight and 1 on each of the weekend days. As mentioned above, the Crocs still have 2 games to play this week, and Sydney dont play. Now, head over the break for some details about our fantasy league::::::::

Inappropriate - indecent even. Thats how it feels to be posting EPL in this most momentous of weeks on the TS website.

Its been a truly beautiful couple of days with the opening of SuperCoach and if truth be told, I feel a bit like Kyle Sandilands would at a Germaine Greer book launch.

However, I did promise a post a couple of weeks ago on how the top three might go until the end of the season, so join me over the break for more.

Spurs

Redknapp has said that if you don’t enjoy watching his Spurs team play then you shouldn’t be watching football. It’s hard to argue with that theory, Spurs have been imperious at times this year.

They have an outstanding starting XI that basically picks itself (apart from CB where King plays when he’s fit). Parker may not be fantasy relevant, but for me, he is the man that has completed this team. Spurs reliance on his ball-winning and consequent passing has meant that Modric and Co can play with more freedom.

With Lennon, Modric, Adebayor, VDV and especially Bale in the ranks it’s a fearsome attacking line-up. Bale often gets double-marked and sometimes triple-marked which also leaves room for the others to weave their magic.

The downside for Spurs is their lack of depth, Defoe (when fit) has shown that he’s an able deputy for the injury-prone VDV but if they find the likes of Adebayor, Bale and Parker out they will struggle. Man Utd and Arsenal for instance, have had much bigger injury problems and cope, Spurs I’m not sure will manage that.

At the moment they’re only Defoe’s (relatively) big toe away from victory at Man City and 1pt clear of them, however they’re not and they’ve now got 5pts to make up on the leaders. I wish them all the best but fear there’s as much a chance of them making that gap up as there is of Redknapp receiving a tax rebate. I’ll gladly be proved wrong. Third place!

Man United

There’s been some tough moments this year for United. That 6-1 mauling at Old...
There was a big game in the East this (Monday) morning, with Miami beating Chicago to narrow the gap between the two at the top of the conference, but the Heat are still 1 game back from the Bulls who are top of the East. OKC have the best record in the league though, having won 16 of their 19 games thus far, to be well ahead of the 2nd placed Denver in the West. LeBron James still easily has the best average fantasy ppg in the league with a massive 63.5 per game so far, leading Kevin Love in 2nd place with 55.4 fppg, and Kobe Bryant rounds out the top 3 with 52 fppg. The only other two averaging more than 50 fppg are Durantula and CP3 with 51.1 and 50.7 respectively. Wonder why Love dropped so far in our drafts? The highest he was picked up was #7 bu Under Achievers in Div1, and on the other end he dropped to #10 in Premier Division when he was snapped up by Walesy. I know that I was cautious as he had such a full on injury late last season, but he has definitely been a standout so far. And Kobe Bryant has ended up a steal in all three drafts, being taken at 19, 19 and 20, but producing top 3 scores thus far.

We still have 5 undefeated teams through 5 games, but there are now just 2 teams that are still searching for their first W of the season. HEAVERs team <a title="Team HEAVER! (Dave Tong)" href="http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?leagueId=23530&amp;teamId=13&amp;seasonId=2012" target="_top">Team HEAVER!, in premier league, still has easily the highest total points for after another dominating display. He has 3 players who are in the top 11 on averages for the season so far, when some (read: I) dont even have 1 player in the top 20! The highest score for matchup 5 went to <a title="Team Ring Ticklers (joel Lamerton)" href="http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?leagueId=10201&amp;teamId=10&amp;seasonId=2012" target="_top">Team Ring Ticklers in Div2, coached by joellamerton, with a relatively big score of 1602, when there were only 2 others...
Only 3 weeks left til the NAB, but more importantly, only hours left until SC/DT open for another year, with the launch tonight at midnight.

Oh, its always an exciting time- getting that squad registered for the first time! I know Ill be giving my f5 key a pounding when midnight rolls around. (wait, that sounded dirtier than I meant it to).

It also means were going to need to start cracking on with our TS leagues, so Ill get a post up shortly on that as well!
With Supercoach (And Dreamteam) opening any minute now, it seems an apt time to discuss the league structure for this year.

If you were here last year, you can pretty much skip to the end, cause we are running them in exactly the same way!

If not however, read on!

<!--more-->

In these parts, we tend to run with user-generated leagues. We have a lot of players here at TS, and as I joked with Impromptu, with 6000 signups thus far, I reckon we all have a rough 1 in 6000 chance of winning this thing. But what it also means, is that no matter which way we cut the leagues, youre going to be fronting up to some ridiculously good competition.

One thing were doing differently this year however, is setting up DreamTeam leagues - I mean, were all fantasy nuts, so lets hit both the comps right!?

So if youre interested in getting involved in a Supercoach league, head over to the <a href="http://tooserious.net/forum?mingleforumaction=viewtopic&amp;t=1277.0#postid-23704">SC Leagues thread and make it happen!

Alternatively, if youre after DreamTeam, check out the <a href="http://tooserious.net/forum?mingleforumaction=viewtopic&amp;t=1278.0#postid-23705">DT Leagues thread

If youre interested in adding a little "spice" to your experience, perhaps the <a href="http://tooserious.net/forum?mingleforumaction=viewtopic&amp;t=1281.0#postid-23711">Cash League thread is for you?

And then we have the other leagues-

The <a href="http://tooserious.net/forum?mingleforumaction=viewtopic&amp;t=1279.0#postid-23706">Donors League thread, for all you donors out there! Just on Donating - Ill be rolling TS over to 2012 within the next couple of days, which means Ill be resetting all you 2011 donors! (On the plus side, to all you awesome people who have donated through the off-season, even late last year, youll be put straight onto the donor list, no fuss no muss!)

And if youve forgotten how to donate, its simple, just click on the Donate...
Its been a while since Ive gotten one of these up, but with SC/DT opening in just 48 hours, I reckon its long due that I get back into it!

So sit back, and check out whats been going on with Richmond, St. Kilda, Sydney, Western Bulldogs and the West Coast Eagles.

Richmond

11/1

Helbig was missing while Reiwoldt, Browne, Astbury, Moore, Batchelor and Cotchin were on a restricted program.
Martin tweaked his back a little and had to sit out half the session
Newman was training with the midfield froup, while Jackson and Houli with the defenders (as did Arnot and Griffiths).
Arnot and Ellis are both looking very strong (Seriously, Arnot looks like a tank).

18/1

MacDonald and Turner were all missing.
Good to see that Martin wasnt effected by last weeks tweak.
Cotchin, Batchelor, Reiwoldt, Mcguane, Morris, Griffiths, Astbury and Browne were in the rehab group.
Newman trained with the midfielders again.
Derickx was very inconsistant. His kicking was top notch, but couldnt take a grab.
Rance stood out, excellent disposal and a lot of voice.
Ellis was vary good in the drills.
The midfield group consisted of Dustin Martin, Daniel Connors, Matthew Arnot, Shane Edwards, Nathan Foley, Shuan Grigg, Daniel Jackson, Jeromey Webberley and Shane Tuck.
while Brandon Ellis, Dylan Grimes, Bachar Houli, Alex Rance, Ben Darrou, Piva Wright, Steven Verrier, Matt Dea, Bradley Helbig, Jayden Post and Matthew White were in the backline.

23/1

MacDonald was still missing.
Post was playing in Defence, while Derickx hands were a lot better than last week.
During the match simulation, Nahas did a bit of work in the midfield, while Tuck was seen up on the HFF.
Derickx copped a pretty hard wack, essentially rubbing him out for half the session.

Just quickly, it was revealed that the Tigers will not play Jack Riewoldt until week three of the pre-season competition.

St. Kilda

(This was the first open session for...
Given that we're closing in on the end of the ORFFL Draft, and selections have slowed due to Flag Day, I thought now would be an opportune time for some further analysis. Thokash has got something he's preparing comparing our draft to those held at FF, I on the other hand am going to delve into comparison between the teams in the ORFFL. Principally, how their players did last year and a tiny glimpse into the crystal ball of 2012 and beyond.

Join us over the break.

N.B Starting 15's are picked on highest 2011 averages.

Humpty Doo Hammerheads (Lucas)
Fresh from coaching Germans in Northern Africa, Lucas landed the top job at Humpty Doo with much fanfare, and assembled a talented and impressive team. 2nd in overall 2011 ave., and above average in all lines except the ruck (3 points off). Where he would hope to get the damage done is in the midfield(409 ppg, 3rd best in the ORFFL, and 30 ppg above the league ave.). The names Judd, Wells, Ball and Bolton ring out, but at the average age of 29, the Hammerheads need to strike with hot irons really quickly. And repeatedly.

Overall 2011 team Ave. 1324 (2nd)

Overall Ave. Starting 15 Age: 27

Mallacoota Magicians (Thokash)
This is a very balanced side from the former Mr. SuperCoach top 20. Only the midfield is just below the league average (1 point off),but at the average age of 24, they should be able to close the gap. The remarkable thing about the Magicians is that they're very close to the 1300 mark (1296), which I think will be the marker for true challengers for the ORFFL crown, and yet their ave. age is only 23. Young, talented and one to definitely watch for the future.

Overall 2011 team Ave. 1296 (6th)

Overall Ave. Starting 15 Age: 23

I was <a href="http://tooserious.net/forum?mingleforumaction=viewtopic&amp;t=182.28" target="_blank">asked to do this writeup way back on August 30th, and I have always had it in the back of my mind that I would have to get it done by the end of January at the latest - As the new season of Supercoach will open on Feb 1st and we will lose all the data from the 2011 season. So here it is... I have left it until pretty late, but better late than never they say, yeah? The first idea was to do it during the final week of Supercoach, but I did not feel comfortable with that as we were celebrating the seasons of Impromptu, Yamum and Shagga at that time, so I thought it a bit inappropriate to join in on that... but Walesy, myself and others involved do believe that this was a really interesting exercise and definitely worthy of its own writeup.

Leading up to last footy season, it was proposed by eckie that we set up a TS Supercoach league where everyone starts with the same side, so that we can level the playing field and see who reigns supreme by doing best trades etc. We got 16 interested people very quickly and we set about organising the rules and starting team.

The basic/main rule was that we all had to have the same 33 players for round 1. Three league members gave proposals of a starting team and we had a vote for which one we went with, with the winner being the following team that was proposed by LiQuiD_SiXx:
<blockquote>Quote from LiQuiD_SiXx on March 16, 2011, 21:00</blockquote>
