Alright, two thirds of the way though the Combined Cars Challenge, and boy oh boy has our leaders, Here For Beer, picked the right part of the season to smash out some big scores!

After topping the chart last week with a 2448, hes once again topped the charts with a 2488- massive run mate!

The second highest score this week was Vanderlay Ind. whos 2430 saw him climb to 6th position over all while the 3rd highest score for the week was Lamb Shanks whos score of 2429 saw him rise to 2nd overall.

That all said though, Here For Beers massive score of 4936 is enough to see him going to the last round with a huge 200 point lead! Really, its all theirs to lose from here, and hell need a spectacular choke (or a massive effort from those who are just in the hunt) to miss out.

I think this week was summed up well in the live chat- Bi-polar. There have been some utterly massive performances, along with a fair number of average efforts. As such though, I wouldnt be suprised to see *somebody* crack that magical 2700 mark- though I reckon Buddys out will put the kibosh on that.

Essendon vs Melbourne
Result: Melbourne by 33, 15.11.101 to 10.8.68

Well, it was mentioned in the chat- completely tounge in cheek of course, that the Bombers were unfairly disadvantaged by the bye, but sadly as a Bombers fan, I cant hang my hat on that. The Demons were fantastic and really put together a solid midfield effort with a rock solid defence. So often (particularly in the first half), the Bombers would drive forward and constantly be shut down by the super efforts of Rivers and Frawley. However, it was Moloney who top scored for the game with 28 touches and a pair of goals for a 132SC. McKenzie also picked up 28 touches for a 124SC while Jack Trengove was a welcome return, also picking up 28 touches for a 115SC. Brad Green looks to have played himself back into form, kicking 4 goals and picking up 113SC for his efforts while Jordan Gysberts got the most touches on ground, collecting 30 for a 111SC. You have to go down to Lonergan, to find the only Bomber to ton up who managed 29 touches but not a lot else. The villians were rife on the Bombers side with Paddys 65, Hilles 54 and bellys 40 leading the charge, meanwhile on the Demons side, a 1st quarter corky to Sylvia saw him subbed off for just 32SC. The rookie however were fantastic- well, not the sub Browne who only managed 17SC, but Heppells 79, Martins 87, Hibberds 89 and Howes 97 were fantastic. Meanwhile, Strauss put in a tidy 70 while Gawn got himself a 50 and Nicholson a 46.

Heros: Moloney, McKenzie, Green
Villians: Sylvia, Ryder, Hille

It was all...
Theres a lot of pain around this week with Chappy and Buddy warming the pine and testing a few teams bench coverage particularly with JRoo having his bye. Add to that a few promintent under performers and injuries with Sylvia, Boyd, Swan and Selwood failing to live up to expectations.

Have you managed to dodge the bullets thus far? Or is your team limping in this round?
Round 11 is almost upon us. Pedersen is in if youre interested in a backline downgrade, but with the mighty Mzungu available, he should really be your first call in downgrading.

A quick reminder to all you free-betters, seems that the winnings of said freebet need to be turned over twice within 90 days- so if you missed that bit of fine print (Alright- I missed it and had it pointed out to me today!) Get in there and have a looksee- Swannies look pretty good value given they have only lost to top3 sides this year, while the Lions are coming off back-to-back wins against North and Adelaide.

Anyways, as always, join us in the <a href="http://tooserious.net/live_scores.php?page=gameday&id=10250395&process=live">Live Chat[/url] tonight- should be fun!
Perma-captain? No such thing it would seem. Everyone’s favourite choice for that role this season has been Swan. However, Swan is playing injured. He hasn’t cracked the ton for the last three weeks and has only averaged 88 in those games.

I started running some numbers for this week and I was extremely unimpressed by all of them. So I started to run some more – hence this is a bumper edition of possible choices. Based on the numbers, only one player seemed to stand out – and that player is …

Rd 7 2007: 106 SuperCoach points, 23 disposals

Average is 142 SuperCoach points with 32 disposals.

Note: Unbelievable recent record against the Eagles – 157 SuperCoach points over the last three games. However, is he on everyone’s team (perhaps he will be traded in after seeing these numbers) and how will he go when he doesn’t have his Geelong team mates backing him up?? Lots of question marks but it is hard to argue with the numbers.

Rd 16 2007: 130 SuperCoach points, 23 disposals

Average is 119 SuperCoach points with 30 disposals.

Note: Very solid record against the Bulldogs. Will enjoy playing at Skilled Stadium. Should have a big game.

As it was said in the chat- anyone who traded in Chappy after his bye will be feeling right now like hed slept with your missus! The bald knight is sitting out on the sidelines this week. In the plus side though, weve got plenty of tasty ins.

Anyways, lets take a look at the big ins and outs for the round.

INS: Enright, Taylor, Richardson, Otten, Curnow
OUTS: Chapman, Gilbee, Liberatore, Matera, Pratt, B. Smith
Extended Bench: Suckling, Richardson, Otten, Jacobs

Anyways, jump into the chat and lets ride the weekly ride which is the Teams.

Got a nice piece here written by one of the regulars, GaryReal- its a cute post that made me smile, but also, a good chance for people to vent! I know until this week, I was going backwards, but a good week or two can do wonders! :D So, have a read- then let us hear it- your best laid plans, laying in ruin? or just lulling into a false sense of security?

This article isnt for the people in the top 1000, because most of you are probably a) GNR rollers, b) have 75% of the same team as everyone else in the top 1000, and c) have patted yourself on the back a few weekends running by now...

No, this article is for the people in 2000th place, or 4000th, or maybe 10,000th, even 25,000th, or more sadly, 40,000th...(lets face it, if youre 100,000th you must be playing for the first time or keep forgetting to make trades...and if youre 200,000th you must a) have never heard of TooSerious, and b) think James Hird is still playing off the Half forward Flank).
Thats right folks, this is an article for those stuck in the quagmire of their own football savvy. Im talking about the depressed band of frustrated tragics who have spent a whole lot of time counting numbers and making plans and thinking up clever combos, and lo-and-behold ten weeks in find themselves defeated by the intangible and seemingly surprising wicked turn of events, as decreed by the Footy Gods.

One good week gets our juices up, we make some great looking double trade for someone like Chappy Rash, who proceeds to average 70pts thereafter...and the next week a cataclysmic sequence of patheticness befalls our team structure such that our bench scores 100 and our fieldmen get subbed off after 10mins.

Im talking about those who spend 3 days reading DreamTeam Captains Wordout and Jasmines Captain Callout, think hard about whether Dane Swan is slightly injured, and then slap a big C on the wrong guy all the bloody time!
The same person who saw Petrie score 40pts (on the field)...
OK this week I will steer clear of many debates only to say, generally in these team building rounds an approach of "one up-one down" is a good one.   And one down so you can go two up is at times one that you should take - but only in special circumstances.

No I havent ditched Sandilands last week, and Im unlikely to this week, but if I hear even a whiff of doubt about his injury next week he is gone.  And its simply because I want some extra cash to complete my team.   End of story.

Now over the break I wont discuss anything but the best value buys, fresh meat, the best PODs and the All-Australians...(LOL)

Best Value Buys

DEF: My list looks ugly here.  Theres Heppell (who most have), Enright (who has spudded recently), Newman (a bye this week), Suckling (still not liked by many) and Gibbs (owned and hated on by many).   So maybe you are better off getting one of the three consistent guns this year in defence: Shaw, Fisher and Scotland.   Of these if making the trade now Id go Scotland.   But if you can hold out until after the bye for the Pies/Saints, then do so.   Stanley has provided handy backup recently.

MID: Again it looks ugly.  Swan is there but obviously hampered.  I wouldnt rush to get him yet if you dont have him already.  Bartel is back in the value, but thats because hes been smashed by Selwood recently (something I predicted at start of year).   So Id look down a bit further to Mitchell and Swallow (slightly midrange), to Pendlebury and S Thompson (this years elite).

FWD: Cyril and Fyfe are topping the value lists, but both are risky prospects for those who are prospective holders, as most would have Pavlich and Franklin and you dont want too many from one team as byes come in and injuries take over later in the season.   Therefore I like the look of Chapman (at the price) regardless of his current form (class is permanent), and Steve Johnson (who has benefited more than Varcoe from GAJs...

So, here we are, one week into the Combined Cars Challenge- and the current leader is none other than Here for Beer, with a fairly massive 2448- Helped by the backline duo of Duffield and Broughton, Murphy and Hodge in the middle, Zac Smith covering for Mumford in the rucks and Robbie Grays very nice 132 up forward, Here for Beer managed to take out the first round by more than 100 points!

I gotta say, Im pretty happy to see that I made the top 10- though considering I went from 2800 to 970 in the overall this week, thats not too suprising! :D

Now, before I get to the totals, I just want to mention to the 14 teams that havent got their scores in- please double check your team details! If you can let me know when your team is uploading fine, before Friday, Ill get you pulled into the ladder proper!

Over the break we have the top 10 so far!

Ten rounds in, and this years brownlow count is fast becoming a two-horse race.  Well - three, if you can count Watson in the pits.

There are others that are there-and-abouts at this point in time, but you do get a distinct feeling that its gonna come down to one of these 2 (or 3).  The bookmakers agree, with Judd now the out and out favourite ($4), and both Selwood and Watson equal second ($8).

This weeks votes are over the page....but before we get there, a note on the Pies v Eagles game.  Dale Thomas was best afield - hands down, even though Pendlebury wasnt too far behind.  And even whilst I think the umps will probably also go for Thomas over Pendlebury for the three, I have gone the other way.

Reason being - the aim is not ultimately to select who will get the votes on a week to week basis.  Its about who will be at the top of the teams tree come late September.  Pendlebury is one of those players that will pick up votes when you least expect him too at some stage through the year, whilst Daisy will miss out on another occasion where we have him down to collect - we know this from past counts.

To further my point...whilst I have gone with the three for Pendlebury, against the two of the TS masses, my count still sees Pendlebury one vote behind...
