For those who take it way too seriously

Still no Jasmine yet! Lets all hope she has a steady stream of internets to manage her own team though because this week throws up some curious challenges and with the captains loophole, could allow for some nice advantages to the savvy coach.

Now, just to reinterate to you all the captains loophole- with St Kilda playing Brisbane tonight, if we set one of those boys as our vice captain, we get the chance to take a look at their score before deciding on whether we want to keep our actual captain, or name a second- non-playing captain to keep our VC score.

So, well take a look at our VC options first.

Im just gunna take a quick look at the last two years:

Nick Dal Santo:
Round 15, 2010: 107SC, 26 disposals.
Round 9, 2009: 67SC, 19 disposals.

Goddard:
Round 15, 2010: DNP
Round 9, 2009: 84SC, 31 disposals.

Montagna:
Round 15, 2010: 114SC, 33 disposals.
Round 9, 2009: 122SC, 33 disposals.

Riewoldt:
Round 15, 2010: 62SC, 13 disposals. This was his first game back from *that* injury.
Round 9, 2009: 115SC, 11 disposals.

Really, a bit of a crapshoot here, Montagna is probably the safest bet, but Goddard and Roo both have the ability to go off. Ah well, lock on of them in as Vice, then we can work it out come Friday.

Swan v. Essendon

Round 20, 2010 - 142 SC, 31 disposals.
Round 5, 2010 - 78 SC, 25 disposals.
Round 14, 2009 - 107 SC, 30 disposals.
Round 5, 2009 - 123 SC, 37 disposals.
Round 3, 2007 - 91 SC, 26 disposals.

Current form: 141, Ave against Essendon in last 3: 109

Notes: Hes the new perma-captain for a reason, and even though his past form against Essendon isnt great, his last match certainly showed he can still turn it on (even though the Bombers were in horrible form)

Pendlebury v. Essendon

Round 20, 2010 - 120 SC, 32 disposals.
Round 5, 2010 - 130 SC, 29 disposals.
Round 14, 2009 - 68 SC, 20 disposals.
Round 5, 2009 - 170 SC, 30 disposals.
Round 3, 2007 - 46 SC, 16 disposals....

Just remember that this round its a partial-lockout-palooza. This mean double dipping for captains and probably going blind for the last game.
We had a good week this week. 2391 points which moved us into 1,293rd overall. A jump of 3,918 places!!

We decided not to make any trades last week. While our bench selections were pretty good. The only blu was selecting Harris to start over Swallow - lost 26 points there...  not much really.

Over the break are all our players scores for round 4:::: <!--more-->

Wow-wee.

Melbournes Brent Moloney has replaced Adam Goodes in the top three in the race for this years league wide B&amp;F.

So just how much do we know about this guy?  Lets delve a little deeper before you throw your hard earned on the tote - although at $26/1 he is currently well over the odds.  Or is that under...anyway...

Brent played a couple of years at Geelong before moving to the Dees at 20 years of age.  He picked up 3 votes in his first game with Melbourne, and played 21 games that year, before injury saw him play a mere 25 games in the following three seasons.

In 2009-2010, he played a combined 39 games for a return of just 9 1/2 wins - yet managed to pick up 12 brownlow votes during this period.

The start of 2011 has seen Brent have an albeit late breakout year, lifting his possession count from 24 in 09-10 to >28 this year.  Hes also starting to hit the scoreboard too, already surpassing his 2010 tally of goals in just the first month of 2011.

Swan and Watson continue on their merry way too, both with arguably best-a-fields in their respective matches - although Fletchers 70m goal + game saving tackle were enough for me :).

This weeks votes over the break:

Now, just to remind you all, we have some very funky rounds coming up ahead, so you might want to cast your eyes over it all so you dont get caught short.
<!--more-->
Firstly, round 5 starts this Thursday (the 21st), and finishes 6 days later on the Tuesday. There is also a partial lockout this round, after the Thursday night game of Brisbane v St. Kilda, and turning full lockout on Saturday, 3:15. Sadly, we still wont be guaranteed that Krakouer will be playing ANZAC day by then, which certainly makes it tough!

Round 6 has another partial lockout, with this starting on Thursday (28th), but the key thing to remember, between lockout opening on Tuesday and lockout on Thursday, there is not a lot of time for planning! So youre going to need to move fast, particularly since the two round 5 bye teams, West Coast and Melbourne, are up on the Thursday night and will kill your season if you leave them on the bench. Once again, youll be able to play the ol captains trick, so if you wanna put the VC on Cox this week, or maybe Grimes, go for it!

So yeah, keep an eye on the fixture, move fast, and try not to go on holidays this easter! And hey, if you must go away, say, to the Bendigo Easter parade, well- try to get done what you can, or find yourself an internet cafe.

- Full Lockout April 23
- Lockout complete April 26

April 28, 2011 (Round 6)

This is a new award were putting together on TooSerious, one that I imagine in time will be the equal, if not better than, the Brownlow. The Fantasy Rising star award - Awarded to the players who earn us coaches the most cash in single weeks than any other.

The nitty gritty of the award is a 5-4-3-2-1 is awarded to the top 5 salary gainers from each week, and the end of the year, the highest scorer is well, the winner!
<!--more-->

So, taking a look at the salary movements from last week, we come up with the following count:

5 - Curnow
4 - Liberatore
3 - Savage
2 - Tapscott
1 - Heppell

Making this weeks Fantasy Rising Star nominee none other than Carltons Ed Curnow.

Curnow started his career as a junior playing footy for the Geelong Falcons. He was drafted by the Adelaide football club in the 2008 rookie draft, before being delisted after just one season.

Ed moved back to Victoria to play for the Box Hill Hawks in 2009, however, it was 2010 where Ed Curnow really took his chances. He was absolutely exceptional in 2010 and dispite only playing 12 games due to a season ending ankle breaking, he still managed to pole enough votes the win the Box Hill best and fairest.

As we all know, Curnow was then rookie listed by the Blues, and after a more than solid pre-season, became their nominated rookie, debuting against the Tigers in round one. He collected 24 possessions and 7 tackles on his way to a 118. His second game scored him a 112 off 26 touches, almost half of them contested.

By now Curnow had our attention, but Richmond and the Gold Coast arent the greatest of competition, so it was round 3 against Collingwood that Curnow showed us just how good he can be. Another solid performance against the reigning premiers scoring 92 points off 23 touches at an disposal efficency of 74%.

These three games saw Ed Curnow rise by $99,100 and collect the inaugral Fantasy Rising Star award- will he be able to continue his phenominal rise? His 99...
So, through all the doom and gloom that was supposed to be the first round of multibyes, it looks like some premium performances to a number of rookies have set us in good stead.

<!--more-->

The week started off on Friday night as Collingwood once again steamrolled their opposition, this week it was Richmond in line for a smashing, and smashed they were, to the tune of 71 points. That said though, the Tigers showed a lot of heart in the 3rd quarter, but their supporters are still in for another long year. Swan top scored for the game, with 33 touches, 18 of which were contested and 4 goals for a massive 163SC. Lids came in for the next highest score, smashing his BE with a very nice 33 disposal, at a 94% efficiency 138SC. In fact, there were three more 130+s, Thomas on 137, Sidebottom with 135 and Pendlebury, who concerned us all early when he was sighted on the bench with a big ol ice pack on his knee, with 132. Conca and Batchelor made their coaches smile with a solid 75 and 69 respectively, while Grimes at a stretch could be used to moo, continuing his 54 average. The disappointments from the game were Riewoldt (though he was always going to struggle against the Pies) - with a 77, which will cause a huge drop in dollars and maybe even be enough to get him under $300k. Krakouer once again disappointed after his solid round 1 score, he is definitely raising some question marks with his 54 this week. Hopefully he can keep getting games until either a DG target appears, or the multi-byes are finished!

Saturday opened with two ripping games, one of which occurred on the chilly shores of Aurora stadium. West Coast held the led at the end of the 1st and 3rd quarters while Hawthorn led at the main break, and more importantly, the end of the game. Franklin was the Hawk of the moment with 24 touches and a mighty 6.2 for 146SC, its amazing what a difference 6.2 makes to kicking 2.6! Priddis led the way for the Eagles with solid 26 touches for 134SC. Mitchell...
Welcome to the TOO SERIOUS

Multi Bye Week Champions League Knockout Competition which is run over the 5 “multi bye” weekends throughout season 2011 as we search for the coach who really does take it TooSeriously.

Remember we have 2 parts to this competition, H2H knockout &amp; overall points winner. So even if your knocked out in Week 1, you will still be in the running to win the overall points. (overall points are just the 5 multi bye weeks scores)

In case of a draw in any match during Week 1, the highest ranked team in the official supercoach rankings will go through to next round. During all other weeks the highest points scorer in the multi bye competition will go through. If still tied after that then highest ranked team in official supercoach rankings will progress to next round.

Also, just a quick note to the Grogfather, weve saved you a spot- so if you still want it, let me know, otherwise weve got a ready replacement champing at the bit!

For the full lineup and fixtures, check over the break.

The late exclusions of both Lower and Pedersen are bound to be causing some coach a few headaches!

Hopefully it doesnt mean youll be wearing zero at this early stage in the season!

Oh, and while youre here, drop into the <a href="http://tooserious.net/live_scores.php">live scoring and chat, I got a couple of fixes in over the week, and a nice little new feature that should make it run a lot smoother for everybody!
With the byes taking most of the decisions out of our hands, Im just gunna take a quick run around the <a href="http://tooserious.net/ticker.php">traps to see if we cant figure out which of our rookies should be on the bench.

Fingers are crossed though that youre not already looking at a ducks egg! If thats the case, hit up Lucas in his <a href="http://tooserious.net/tooserious-best-buys-for-round-4">Best buys, dont mean to toot his horn, but the mans a genius!

Anyways, onto the tick...

<!--more-->

Adelaide are facing Port, generally if youre sitting on any Crows, its gunna be Otten, Smith or McKernan- sadly though, Port have hot ticks for Mids and Rucs, but only an average tick for defenders and forwards. Even still, they should be a fairly safe bet.

Carlton are coming up against the Bombers, who have a hot tick for forwards, and an average tick for Defenders and Mids- however, it must be noted that this tick is still taking into account the end of 2010. That said, Duigan and Curnow are in ripping form and youd have to be a gutsy player to bench em.

Collingwood are up against the Tiges, so get Krakouer on the field. :D

Essendon are up against the Blues, who have an average tick across the lines. No reason to bench Heppell for that.

Freo are facing the Kangeroos, who hve 3 average ticks and a warm one for defenders- which should make all of us Lower holders pretty happy. Fingers need to be crossed that he doesnt fall off the extended bench!

GCS are facing the Ds, who have a warm defensive tick and a cold ruck tick. So while that should be good for those of us with Toy or Coad. Smith on the other hand is being handed his biggest challenge for the year.

Hawthorn are facing the Eagles, so while there is a cold Cox enduced ruck tick, the rest is warm to hot- so get them Hawks out there.

North Melbourne midfielders should benefit from Freos warm mid tick, while the rest of the ground is covered by an average tick....
