I think both teams could have the up curve put next to their names as both have been subpar for quite a few years (even though Dons fans will say we made the 8 in 09 realistically they lost more than they won - a LOSING season)

Robbie Gray takes to the stage tomorrow night in the Alice Match that the Tigers feel obliged to play. He isnt aboriginal, mores the pity, but he is praying to the injury gods that he can capitalise on his decent preseason. Im sorry Robbie, there are no injury gods. On that note, Travis Boak is back in for a run which will be instructive. He polled well in the Brownlow last year which means the umps love...

Finally, the game week is over after 13 days with teams having 2 games, teams playing in Europe and Cup competition during its all said and done. Man Utd and Arsenal have gone clear of the chasing pack and though United have a game in hand (Chelsea Away) they only lead Arsenal bgy 1 point. 7 points back is Man City who lost that chance to keep up to the other 2 with a 2-1 derby loss so so long ago with a wonder strike from Wayne Rooney. Spurs catchup game against Blackpool went horribly wrong and had the chance to leep frog Man City but lost 3-1. Tottenham are suffering from the Champions League they seem to perform so well there (1-0 away win) against AC Milan but seem to have a bit of a lul the game after. Chelsea are struggling and Ancelotti could be on his way out very soon if they dont start getting some results. Liverpool have turned around a very poor start to the season and now find themselves sitting 6th 8 points away from 4th since "king" Kenny took charge. Ruil Meriles has been the differnece scoring in 6 of the last 7 games. Down at the Relegation end its the 4 teams starting with W in trouble. Giant killers Wolves still find themselves bottom of the table 3 points from safety.

No idea what happened in the 5A-Side games results havent been updated, but RVP looked to be a popular captain choice with the 2 gameweeks and relative easy games and started of well scoring 13 but looks as he was rested for Arsenals League Cup match-up on Sunday. Fabregas limped off after 10 minutes this morning but well have to wait and see on that Theo Walcott has been ruled out of the League cup final with an ankle sprain, not sure how long he will be out for. Weve got another user-generated article, this one was put together Griff and looks at a topic that Im certain will be discussed at length over the NAB.
Without further ado-
Hi everyone, griff here with my first board article. I wanted to generate some discussion on what everyone is planning with regards to supersubs.
With the byes this year, it is more important than ever to have good bench coverage. A lot of you will do this through MPP, and probably look to build up a player or two on your benches that can score well, and sub for almost any line through MPP links.
The question is, who, and how?

The common MPP structure is to have MPP premiums as forwards and defenders linking to MPP rookies on the midfield bench, as there are a dearth of pure forwards and defenders with premium status, as highlighted nicely by Lucas’ last article.
This however means that you can’t slaughter those MPP rookies, unless there is another worthwhile option with the same multi-positioning on the bubble to go to. This is unlikely, given the limited lists below:
M/F Rookies
Tendai Mzungu (FRE)
Thomas Schneider (HAW) (Rookie Listed)
Isaac Smith (HAW)
Dion Prestia (GC)
Ian Callinan (ADE)
Nick Winmar (STK)
Dylan McNeil (SYD) (Rookie Listed)
D/M Rookies
Taylor Hine (GC)
Warrick Andreoli (STK) (Rookie Listed)
Ben Jacobs (PA)
Dan Nicholson (MEL) (Rookie Listed)
Bradley Harvey (BL) (Rookie Listed)
Dyson Heppell (ESS)
Michael Hibberd (ESS)
Xavier Clark (BL) (Injured, out for season)
Simon Buckley (COL)
So the MPP rookies you select to start with may need to stay in your side all season, and perhaps become your permarookies & supersubs.
If you want a Waters or Maguire type as your supersub, someone that gets too close to premium status to spend a trade on, you’ll need to keep them on hand AS WELL as your original MPP rookies, or find MPP downgrade targets.
If you are advanced enough to upgrade positions 23 & 24 to...

Big news today is the trade of Melo to the Knicks! Massive trade involving 3 teams, 12 players and 2 draft picks (which beats my trade to get Durantula from our TooSerious Knicks). To paraphrase chris88 from his comments today in last weeks thread: The Knicks gave up half their team, mostly young improving players and ‘all’ their draft picks, for a star who cant play D, an old PG and bench shit. Another way of putting it [the official way] is: C. Anthony, C. Billups, C. Brewer, S. Williams, A. Carter and R. Balkman go to the Knicks; while W. Chandler, R. Felton, D. Gallinari, T. Mozgov, a first-rounder and two second-rounders go to the Nuggets, and A. Randolph and E. Curry head to the T-wolves. I’m missing something in regards to the 2 players going to Minnasota?? But anyway, thats how it went down.

After this trade, Mozgov and Turiaf were both snapped up from the FA’s pretty quickly. I reckon its hard to know how this will affect the players involved in a fantasy sense – but there are a few things that I will throw out there: 1) Turiaf will now be starting for the Knicks. 2) Afflalo and Nene have some competition now at the Nuggets, which may or may not be a good thing for their game. 3) Anthony Randolph should see a lot more min at the TWolves. 4) Just after I suggested that Walesy drop him, a player who was also a big part of our mammoth 3 team trade – Sheldon Williams – should see more game time at NY (admittedly, its not hard to improve from DNPCD’s).

The trade deadline is now only a few days away, so it will be interesting to see if there are any other trades on the horizon.

Tomorrow we have games on again, after a 4 day break for the All Star action. Im going to give a quick rundown of the All Star weekend – including mock All Star starting 5’s for our league...

Throughout the NAB cup, we get a lot of data, some of it a lot more useful than others. One of our regulars here, Inkersaint, has put together this collection of tables which reviews the NAB scores so far against a players salary in order to determine the cost per point- Which really is one of the better stats in the pre-season. Were going to do this as a weekly thing, because these lightning scores are a little wacky - but well see what we can make of them.
Sitting as the king of the hill is none other than Hawk rookie Tom Schneider. Coming in as the only player priced at less that $1000 per point- his dual position eligibility would have made him a high priority on many watchlists. The caveat- IF he can make it onto the senior list. Hes obviously throwing down and making the claim- but hell need to continue to impress. That said, if he gets promoted through the year, he could be an excellent downgrade option.

Richmonds Jake Batchelor came in as the best value defender at 1068. With previous successes in Richmond picks coming in the form of Andrew Raines and Relton Roberts, Id be tempted to watch closely before I jump in. But when you look at the key differences a) He doesnt appear to be made of glass, and b) he goes alright with the footy, then you simply have to add this kid to your watchlist. Hes a tall attacking half-back flanker who averaged 21 touches though the TAC cup this year. While sure, Richmond had a lot of outs- he certainly didnt do himself any harm.
Behind Schneider in the midfield was Sydneys Craig Bird. That said, he played, and starred in one game in a line up who smashed the young GWS side by 79 points in only 40 minutes of football.
In the rucks, we see a second Richmond player topping the list, this time its mature aged Tom Derickx, who really does have a spectacular name. He got himself to the top of this list through his stand up performance against the Pies. Though he did go missing against the Blues, he cant...

Hi all,
Thought I would post a quick thread for everyone to discuss the current weeks fixtures and each club injury lists (and how this affects your SuperCoach team).
The big issue currently facing all Super Coaches out there is the fact that Petrie has been suspended for Round 1; coupled with a bye in Round 3 means he shouldnt/wont figure in many teams plans now...or will he???

Ive been promising this for a while, and because its so meaty I decided to break it down into a few chunks, so that people can digest and understand each bit before taking on the next. Â And theres a few weeks of NAB Cup to analyse, and I need all the time I can get to develop the list of ins and outs for 2011.
What I thought everyone here would benefit from is to know how the list has changed over time, because its that transition of players values, like father time, that stops for no player.
First, a definition of a premium: 100 points per game average in a season.
Second, a definition of elite: 120 points per game average in a season.
Now without further ado, I will list the premiums list from 2010, and how its changed from 2009, 2008 and 2007. Â From there I will draw some conclusions. Â Join me by clicking the link and heading over the break...
So, heres the listing of 2010 Premiums and Elites (E) by position (Note all positions listed are 2011 positions)
Mid-Def - Goddard (E), Gibbs, Deledio
Mid-Fwd - Chapman, Didak, Harvey, Pavlich
Ruck - Sandilands
Mid - Ablett (E), Swan (E), Judd, Selwood, Hodge, Barlow, Montagna, Cross, Dal Santo, Murphy, Pendlebury, Priddis, Watson, Boyd, A Swallow, Hayes, Tuck, K Cornes, Bartel, J Bolton, Burgoyne, Simpson, Jack
Fwd - N Riewoldt, Franklin
Def - Lake, Bruce, Johncock
No real surprises here. Â These were the stars of 2010, no question.
From 2009, here are the changes:
Became Elite: Goddard
Lost Elite: Montagna
Became Premium (first time): Barlow, A Swallow, Johncock, Simpson, Jack
Became Premium (re-entry): Hodge, Franklin,Tuck, Harvey, Burgoyne (last premium in 2009), Lake, Bruce, K Cornes (2008)
Lost Premium in 2010: Â Goodes, Davis, Sewell, Cox, OKeefe, Mitchell, Corey, Drummond, Bock
2008 Premiums compared with 2009/2010:
Became Elite: Swan (2009/10), Montagna (2009), Goddard (2010)
Lost Elite: No one - Ablett the only Elite in 2008
Became Premium: Goddard, Pendlebury,...

Yep, two reviews in one, just to mess with Terrys head. Well, that and a complete lack of time over this weekend.
It looks like the Gold Coast have had a pretty good welcome to the league. I reckon Swallow, Harris, Toy, Coad and Matera will be in just about every squad now.
That said, I still havent watched the games- Ill try to watch them later tonight.
Then Ill get my footnotes for each game up.
Until then though, enjoy the stats. (as always, they are in DT.)

So, week two of the Lightning round and the biggest thing we learnt- If the trend continues, Brisbane is in for a very long season. And the Bombers are due for a finals birth.
Of course, we all know that its the pre-season and that it doesnt overly apply to the season as a whole. No, we dont know that Brisbane is in trouble, and no, Essendon arent due for a finals birth but if were lucky- we can get a glimpse into how teams are gunna roll next year.
That said, Im really looking forward to seeing how the GC go tonight.
As for the below stats, they are all in DreamTeam as again, the SuperCoach ones just seem so out of wack with only half a game.

- So, there wasnt too much to take out of the games for the Lions, what I can say though is that Jared Polec looked solid against the Bombers, being one of the only Lions to stand up. Only collected two touches against the Saints, but with the Lions midfield in such disarray, Voss surely has to play the kid as much as possible.
- Rohan Bewick, mature aged runner from the WAFL who came to the Lions as part of the Brennan trade, looked pretty good tonight, got a little bit of the ball, but his disposal certainly let him down a bit....

So its time for a new article with a new weekend of rookies to watch in the NAB Cup.
Im looking forward to the games on offer, and hoping that we see some quality on FTA not being a Foxtel subscriber.
Unfortunately, all there is on FTA is tonight, but with the Dons-Saints-Lions in action, its time to "go the Doctor" and hope Hibberd is going to be the answer to our teams MPP and finance structures. Â Well priced, if theres even a hint that he is well in James Hirds plans then he will be in each team quicker than a seagull eats a chip.
Other interesting points would be whether we see any of Bomber Thompson in the Dons structure, whether the Saints are still the Bombers b.tch, and if the Lions are going to give us anything other than a possible wooden spoon from 2011.

Foxtel subscribers get the enjoyment of not just investing in Uncle Ruperts retirement, but also of course the intriguing series between the Swans-Suns-Giants. Â Giants and Suns have been told by their respective coaches that age and experience means nothing, and to go out and play football. Â Needless to say the Swans are clear-cut favourites.
Points of interest from that series: Â Where will Goodes play, has Hunt improved, is it one year too soon for GWS to be playing - lots of legitimate questions. Â One thing to keep in mind is not to underestimate that there could be a young star wearing Red and White this year like Hannebery. Â Dont fall over yourselves in drool over the GC players when there could be others worth your attention.
Final game in the series is on Sunday on Fox. Â Its the Kardinia Park twilight series. Â As if to show the Cricket Australia board that you can play matches there between 3 and 7, thats when the AFL equivalent of 20-20 is going to take centre stage.
Interesting points would have to be the battle of the twins, probably the first time twins have coached against one another in the big league. Â One with a side predicted to be on the...
