Quality work with the forward dating on the post Walesy- it totally made it look like you were sitting up, all new years, working tirelessly on the blog with your good readers are out there enjoying themselves.
yeah... forward dating...
Anyways, its the start of the year- and what I like doing at this stage of the year, even though we are still far out from the season, is to enter in my first team for the year.
To put whats been learnt so far in the offseason out there and try to make an outfit that will stay competitive come round 1. Honestly, I reckon this is my best year yet and Im thinking about entering this team once SuperCoach opens in a months time and just walking away until round 1.
Its just that good!.
<!--more-->
Alight, maybe not *that* good, but heck- I reckon itll go alright.
On the plus side though, Fantasy footy is back officially in 31 more days! WooHoo!
So, the team-
Defenders
Bryce Gibbs: With back eligibility, he will find himself as one of the top 5 backs by ther end of the year. Just lock him in early.
Brett Deledio: See Gibbs.
James Kelly: With Ablett moving on, it opens some space in the Geelong Midfield. I see Kelly as the early frontrunner to benefit from this- possibly enought to round out the top 5 with Goddard and Lake.
Scott Selwood: Mid priced at an average of 64, but averaged 88 over his last 10 weeks. Definite keeper material if he can replicate that.
Jed Adcock: Durability is the big concern here, and of course his pre-season role will be of great importance- but if he ticks the right boxes, and 85+ average at a price of 63 is well worth the outlay.
Andy Otten: This kid looked the goods last year before going down with an ACL. Hell need to be monitored
Dyson Heppell: The first slider in the draft was picked by a team sorely lacking in the midfield. He should get games early and should get a run through the middle- both are what were...

Alright, so Ive been a bit absent lately but better late than never, right? Currently we are half way through the equivalent of NFL Fantasy Superbowl! Its been a cracking season, one of the closest comps Ive been involved in and has been a real good way to keep the fantasy mind sharp over the off season. Just before I get into the review Id like to thank all involved and also the fellas on here who dropped in from time to time to say hello and watch from afar. I will still do a final wrap up next week but I thought Id get this out there early. So onto the semi finals review and a quick run down of where were at now.

Ill start with my match-up, MR WIGGLES vs THE PACK. After the first week, Mr Wiggles was holding what I thought was a healthy lead of 36 points thanks largely to a dominant display from Tom Brady and RunDMC. RunDMC put in his nomination for touchdown of the year on his way to scoring a huge 38 points. So I was pretty confident heading into the second week of the matchup. However, as it has been all season, in this league anyone can beat anyone on their day and so it was that The Pack had a huge turn around and was very quickly able to wipe away the deficit. It came down to the very last game of our matchup. It was a sticky situation for me as it was my beloved Patrots against the ever consistent Green Bay Packers, with me holding Tom Brady from the pats and The Pack holding The Patriots D/ST. I wanted the patriots to win and I wanted Brady to do well but I also needed the D/ST to go quite average, something had to give. It was Brady, he had a quiet day, with about a minute on the clock I was a point down and with the last play of the day the Patriots got a fumble and a sack and I was done for, going down by 5 points and seeing my late run of wins come to a crashing halt also bow out of the comp, well done The Pack and onto the Superbowl for you!

I thought the low amount of NBA games during the week would have resulted in close games in our league; however, i think, because there were big variations in the amount of games played between different teams - ie 4 to some teams, and only 2 to about half the teams and even just the 1 for Toronto - there ended up being mostly 1 sided afairs, with only 2 games decided by less than 100 points - and 100 points was a lot in this low scoring week.
This week saw Jasmine, Owen and Danny10 continue on their winning ways; however the other top 4 team - Heaver! - finished up with a loss in a relatively high scoring game against myself - Team anthak. Heaver finishing as the highest scoring losing team for the round.
Mid table, we saw Dan drop out of the top 8 after 3 straight losses. And down the bottom we still have the two obvious teams holding up the ladder. Fudge is still on the move, winning his 3rd game in a row, and there are a few teams down there with 4 and 5 game losing streaks!
In the NBA, San Antonio has the best record in the league with only 4 losses; while Boston still lead the East, with the same record as Dallas who have been hot for the last few weeks. As for individual leaders: After a 44 point effort on xmas day, Durantula has increased his lead on top of the points with 28.1 ppg; Rondo has not been playing so his healthy ave of 13.8 apg is still easily enough to lead the league; and Love continues to lead the league in rebounds with 15.7 rpg. Bogut and CP3 both still lead the blocks and steals respectively; while Westbrook has cut down on the TOs, leaving the door open for Rondo to jump to the lead averaging 4.15 TOpg. A special mention needs to go out to Lebron James who is the first player to record more than 1 trip-dub this season, and after 2 TDs in his last 5 games, he now has 3 for the season! In our league, Rondo and Paul lead the league in fppg, both with 58.3 pg.
Now over the break - the usual - reviews of matchup 8 games; and...

I joked last week that Fudge was on a roll after his 1st win, but now he definitely is - after beating Owen this week. So that leaves no undefeated teams any more! Besides our two easy-beats, this comp is extremely close - with any team able to knock off any of the others!
Weve had a couple of massive trades this week! * 1st one was involving me - we managed to organise a 3 team trade involving 13 players all up! Heres how it went: DSK sends Durant, Gasol, Udrih, Bledsoe, Amundson & Daniels to anthak; anthak sends Pierce, Nene, Diaw, Frye & Turner to DSK; anthak sends SWilliams to Walesy; Walesy sends CJ Watson to DSK. * 2nd one was between Dan and Heaver, involving 9 players: Wade Machine sent Westbrook, Martin, McGee & Biedrins to Heaver, in exchange for Sefolosha, Horford,Wall, Delfino & Jordan. Some huge names getting moved on there in both trades! Well just have to wait and see how it all pans out. I know with mine there have been some mixed results between the time the trade was agreed on and when it actually went through... Paul Pierce has had his best 2 games of the season (72 and 95 fpts); Bledsoe and Amundson have both started a game when they were expected to be bench players; & Turner got his first DNP-CD of his career... and I see that Chris and Smitty have just dropped him to waivers - bit hasty i reckon. He should do alright over the remainder of the season.
At the time of writing this, our poll was tied up with 10 votes taken. I have decided the outcome, and that is that we will have a trade deadline. I just think its much fairer to have a deadline, than not to. There are obviously pros and cons for both options, as evidenced by the split vote, but I would personally rather have a deadline. Three big reasons are that: interest may drop off towards the end of the season from some owners; AFL will be on a lot of our minds in a couple of months; and the main one - it avoids teams not in the running for our playoffs being a...

				Hey Guys
Thought id get a post up as the last one wont let us write comments on it nice and quick as dont have much time and will try add to it in the meantime. Manchester united have emergenged on top of the league with a 1-0 over Arsenal last week and have a game in hand. Man City the big movers are now 3rd only 2 points off the top while Chelsea continue to drop points and find themselves 4th. Spurs 5th and Bolton 6th are doing great but a bit of a gap from 4th. Liverpool find themselves midtable with Hodgson under alot of pressure. The bottom 3 see Wigan Wolves and West Ham in the relegation zone.
The biggest news to come out of England this week is the Carlos Tevez transfer request. So many stories coming out is he homesick?? Does he hate Mancini is there a problem with Brian Cook and other Man City board members, is he genuinely homesick and willing to take a 1000% wage drop or quit the game altogether or does he want more money?? Time will tell to see how this one plays out.
All 6 English clubs have qualified for the next round of Europe with Spurs, Arsenal Manchester United and Chelsea all progressing to the round of 16 in the Champs League and Man City and Liverpool progressing to the last 32 of the Europa cup. The draw for both compeititons will take place Saturday morning our time.

				Hey Guys
The 3rd test starts tomorrow in perth with the poms holding a 1-0 lead and Australia only 17 wickets to date in this series. Few changes have been made to the Australian team. Katich is most likely out for the rest of the summer and depending how is replacement Phillip Hughes go could spell the end of his career. Marcus North has been dropped for poor form and Young all-rounder Steve smith has been added. Xavier Doherty has been given the flick with an avergae of over 100 in favour for Michael Beer (love the name) who has only played 6 first class games in his carreer. Doug Bollinger has been dropped from the squad for Mitchell Johnson.
England are flying and have only made one change with Injured fast bowled Stuart Broad out for the rest of the series, Chris Tremmlett will replace him.
Likely line-ups
Australia 1 Watson 2 Hughes 3 Ponting 4 Clarke 5 Hussey 6 Haddin 7 Smith 8 Johnson 9 Harris 10 Siddle 11 Hilfenhaus 12 Beer. De3pending which way the Aussies go with the 4 pace attack and Smith or play Beer. If beer plays Hilfy/Johnson are on the block.
England 1 Struass 2 Cook 3 Trott 4 Pietersen 5 Collingwood 6 Bell 7 Prior 8 Swann 9 Anderson 10 Tremlett 11 Finn 12 Paensar.

Matchup 6 saw a couple of the regular blowouts, but not many close games, with only 3 games decided by less than 100 points - and only one of them by less than 70 - between Dan and Danny10, in probably the match of the round. Matchup 6 also saw the unbeaten run of Jasmine come to an end! With Owen, now, our only undefeated player. Fudge pulled through for his first win, which leaves Fzilla and Elbonz the only ones yet to get a W!
In the NBA, Boston and San Antonio lead their respective conferences. Apart from them, Miami, New York and Dallas are the form teams - the latter winning their last 12 games; and the other two, both winning 9 of their last 10. Durant (27.4 ppg), Love (15.6 rpg) and Rondo (13.7 apg) are still on top of the three main stats categories. Paul has an astonishing 3.18 steals pg to lead the league; and aussie Andrew Bogut leads the league in blocks with 2.94 pg. On the negative side of things - Westbrook is still leading the way with 4.2 TOs pg, and DeMarcus Cousins leads the league with 4.2 fouls pg.
We have a new holder of the Fewest Points in a round trophy, with Elbonz taking out the first 5 titles, Fzillas Pikus United has joined the ranks scoring 461 this week. It doesnt look as though Fzilla has been around since matchup 2, as he has only been using a max of 10 players every week since then. Not sure whats going on with him, but that makes 2 absent coaches at the moment with Elbonz still missing as well.
On a brighter note - Owen is our first winner of the Dirk Diggler award as he is the only undefeated team remaining! Starting the season with a 6 game winning streak so far! Well done Owen!

The first of the games that counted was the match-up between MR WIGGLES(e) and AUSSIE BATTLERS(e), this was 1v2 with the winner through to the playoffs. It went down to the wire with Mr Wiggles getting ahead for the first time in the Monday game due to another hero performance from Tom Brady.
Next up saw BOLDIN SHOWERS (w) take on SAM CROW(w) and once again it was for a place in the playoffs. Once again it was Sam Crows star performer of the season Michael Vick, who top scored and got sam crow into the playoffs.
The next big match-up was THE PACK(w) against UNDER ACHIEVERS(w). Under ACHIEVERS had to win to make playoffs, and The Pack was already assured a post season place. UAs rose to the occasion and toppled the ladder leading pack 101-83, to book his seat at the finals table.
