For those who take it way too seriously

As we move into the split round, most teams are very much complete and this week saw some whopping scores registered. We also saw the keys being handed to a new owner...2 in fact...meaning Ford should be coughing up 2 sets :p

So this week we will start with the Pine Warmers who have remained in 17th place overall this week even though the league averaged 2370 this week and had only 2 teams who scored less than 2300  a top effort.

The leagues overall average is 2215 and this week saw some strong results from tiger4life and9/11WasAnInsideJob. Life Post Richo cemented their spot at the summit while a few teams made ground up on the leaders with 2nd and 3rd both taking losses.

With some cracking SuperCoach league games coming up this week (and some beauties in the league - 1 v 2, 3 v 7, 4 v 6), a lot of key SuperCoach players under injury clouds and semi LTIs, and the split round captaincy trick being played, this is going to be a HUGE round of football...not to mention the hawks have the bumbers on Friday night the triple MCG.

Results are over the break

So this week started off with the home team eeeking out a draw over the favored Mexican squad. Mexican defender, Marquez and the South African with the greatest name ever, Tshabalala top scored with a goal each.

Wait, what. No, thats not right. Round 12 started off with the upset of the round! North Melbourne smashed the Blues around the park for 4 solid quarters. Well, I say that the Roos did, but in reality it was just the one Roo- Lindsay Thomas. 7.5 and 217 points for the boy. a score that will see his salary go up $200k over three weeks. SDT got the next highest score with 152. The Blues big 3 midfielders in Judd, Gibbs and Murphy brought about the next 3 scores. Waite continues his return to form with a solid 94. Meanwhile Bastinac delivered nicely with an 88.

The only game on Saturday saw Hawthorn defeat a pretty helpless Adelaide. Cyril continued his return to form with a delicious 167 BOG performance. And might just break even with the price everyone picked him up for so many weeks ago. A lesson to not sell low peoples! Heck, even Tippett got a 115 and is looking to be tracking in the right direction finally. Hodge scored a solid 156, while Douglas notched up his 6th ton in 7 weeks, Would have been a great buy back then! On the other side of the board, S. Thompson put in a poor 33 while the porpis scored a 35. Might be some bargains in this adelaide squad next year!.

Now, speaking of helpless teams, Saturday night saw the Cats smash the helpless bombers by 70 points. Bartel top scored with a 160 while Kelly put in an outstanding 151. Podsiadly is gunna be fine all year I reckon, dominating with another 5 goal haul as the only tall in the line up (and 131 points). Alwyn Davey top scored for the bombers with a solid 110 while Chappy and Ablett "dissapointed" with 106 and 97. Abletts 97 was more disappointing because it came from 34 touches.

The other game on Saturday night saw the Swans walk it in over the Power, keeping them to 2 points in...
--We interrupt this weeks football to bring you this important post--

Anyways because I know that a fair few of you guys are gunna being doing the same as me- ie, Up at 4 in the morning watching the game.

So, over the break in this post, Ive set up a chat section specifically for tonights game. So get in their guys and AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE!

So, tonight were kicking off round 12- and the world cup.

And Ive got to be honest, Ive spent my spare time this week researching my worldcup squad. I am ammused that my final squad has such players as Pernis, BellAid, K(ing). Kong II, Kum II, Welcome, Brockie and MENDOZAA!!!!

Basically what Im saying is that for the next month, I might be a little distracted... :p

That said though, it should be an interesting week in footy. While the top 8 teams shouldnt have too much trouble with their games (Well, except for that Freo-St game), I reckon there will be an upset or two to throw a spanner in the works...

Also, two points of order- firstly, I tweaked my Bet247 WC team this morning and it used all my trades up- Someone write those guys and tell them that using trades before the actual first kickoff makes the baby Ablett cry.

Secondly, Bandit- you out there mate? Send me an email!

Good luck everyone!

Hello all,

Welcome to another instalment of the TS Leagues Review and what a weekend of football. Now before I start with the TS Leagues, I want to talk about the actual league and make mention that my prediction made last week of the Hawks sneaking into the 8 this week eventuated, and my boys brought it home to give this little black duck a very happy birthday...sorry Walesy and all you Essendon supporters out there, but see you next weekend at the G for the Round 6 rematch.

I thought that all games this weekend were crackers other than Blues blowout on Saturday afternoon, and this saw some very high scores being posted including a new holder of the car keys, who posted 2731. The Krunchy Nuts posted their biggest score of the season being 2437, but sadly this was not enough to bring home a win in the Pine Warmers league, who are sitting 17th overall and have now snatched the Number 1 TS Leagues spot... :D

Anyways, on with the league review...<!--more-->

This week we are starting with the review for The TooSerious20 league written by SoUpS...thanks mate!

As we complete the half-way point of this years 2010 fantasy football season, coaches are looking to finalise their squads in eager anticipation of the run home towards the finals. Various strategies are being used, with some coaches treating trades as golden eggs, whereas some coaches are looking to finalise their squads earlier than in past years thanks to the rich display of cheap Supercoach talent which has graced the track in 2010. Stars such as Barlow, Podsiadly, Martin and to a lesser extent Rockliff and Waters have all delivered richly for coaches prepared to punt on them. Some coaches may have spent a few trades to bring these cheap stars in, and some have been knowledgeable (lucky) enough to pick them up thanks to solid pre-season performance.

Either way, squads are starting to gel, and this was clearly evident with the massive scoring pumped out by the Supercoach masses...
OK now we are past the half way mark of the season, and its time that the old analogy comes out. Its not a sprint, its a marathon.

The last few rounds have been interesting as some key players have got injuries and suspensions, teams have had to shuffle around, but generally there has been an air of calm. In the main this year due to a combination of exceptionally reliable substitutes (Maguire, Waters, Nason, Silvagni, Martin, Trengove, Scully, Bastinac, Jetta, Jacobs, Trengove II, Gumbleton, Hitchcock, Podsiadly and Rockliff) and the MPP, we have not seen one of Walesys classic CARNAGE round reviews just yet.

I am not a prophet of doom either. Most teams through smart strategy should have a combination of trades in the locker, MPP coverage and strong polling substitutes. And so therefore the marathon is becoming a sprint again! You might find there are some Afrikaan runners who are just sitting off the leaders ready to strike at the Big Muzungo and smash some 2450s in the finals.

Advice for the week: Back your team if in doubt. Ive not traded out OBrien, Dangerfield and Waters for that reason, and have enjoyed a few weeks of breathing space conserving trades and scoring well. Thats a rare daily double if you ask me.

Now onto the rest of the show!

<!--more-->FRESH MEAT

For players under 200k, there were only three players who are in the fresh meat zone who played on the weekend. Gysberts who many see as being too weak to stay in for a long time (worth a risk though if you ask me...), and the two Cats - Simpson and Hunt - both of whom you would think have limited longer term security.

So in short, its Gysberts.

For players who are under 200k but have popped the bubble slightly, I guess you could still look for something out of Skipper, Watts and Stanley, or take a risk on a player like Hughes or Heath getting back in favour.

To be honest, theres not much in the downgrade options and it makes you think seriously about the...
Half way through this season, and we now have a very strong formguide as to which AFL stars will be a chance in 3 months time.

BJ picked up the three of the week on Friday night in a telling display against the Tigers. Milne will pick up the two with his 5.5, whilst Montagna and Riewoldt will fightout the final vote.

The Blues v Demons game was a little harder to call. Ive gone with Walker for BOG, capping off a fine couple of weeks, with the minor votes to be shared between the likes of Robinson, Waite, Houlihan and Carrazzo.

Scott Thompson picks up his first votes in his BOG performance against Fremantle. I couldnt quite squeeze in Edwards in his last game, with Johncock and the ever-suprising Barlow also playing fine games.

Travis Johnstone should poll the only 3 in a losing side this week. The Roos Captain and B&F should fight out the minor votes in this game.

Chapman continues to reward fantasy coaches who have taken the risk on him - as did Waters for those who havent traded him out. A host of players could pick up the one here - Ive gone with Bartel just over Byrnes, Wojcinski, Priddis & Embley.

Jude Bolton put in a very impressive performance, top-scoring in Supercoach for the round with a massive 193. McVeigh and Mumford will fight out the minor votes here.

The big news of the week is we have another lead change, with Luke Hodge again staring for the Hawks. Sewells game was almost on par with the number one draft pick, but Hodgeys year should see him pick up the three and 2 votes clear of GAJ. Gaz has now only polled 2 votes in the last 4 rounds, and is due for a form turn-around soon. A little off topic, but did anyone see the boil on Gazs head???

Pendlebury picked up his second medal for the year, and is giving himself every chance to go back-to-back in most votes for the Pies. Swan also played a great game though, and has a strong chance of polling too. Boyd and Didak are also a chance to poll...
So, we are now officially halfway through the season, and my my my, we had a lot of injuries this round. I hope everyone has the trades, or at least bench coverage, to deal with it!

So the first game for the weekend was the Saints vs Richmond. Honestly, it started exactly as I expected- but in the 2nd and 3rd quarters I reckon the Tiges showed some real heart. Theyre already a much better team than 10 games ago- that said though, theyre still a few years away from putting 4 quarters together solidly- but I reckon theyre headed in the right direction. Anyways, the top scorer for the game, of course, was Goddard. 38 touches and a massive 188 points. Montagna and Milne were the next highest scorers with 143 and 130. Newman top scored for the Tiges with 125. J. Riewoldt kicked 6 goals, totally 20 in the past 4 weeks. Webberly put in a fantastic 78, and is looking good for the rest of the season, while Nason got a miserly 8 touches and 23. Probably needs to have a week off soon, so its a good thing the split round is coming up.

Next game saw the Blues beat the Demons by 41 points. That said, the Demons had a spirited 3rd quarter- but outside that, were fairly would routed. Bruce top scored with a solid 142. Waite had a solid game back, and I would say to everyone to hop on board- cept for the fact that he *might* be spending a little more time on the sidelines. Robinson is starting to deliver on the promise he offered in the preseason, averaging 107 since getting back into the team. Once again Gysberts impressed with an 84, and a -99 BE moving into next week. Looks good as one of the last posible downgrades if you havent freed up all your cash. But as always, wait til hes named for a third game. Scully and Trengove disappointed on return with a 53 and 41 while Jack Watts bottom scored with a 22.

The next game saw one of the upsets of the row. Adelaide defeated the Fremantle Dockers. Man- Ive gotten this game tipped wrong twice now. Johncock topscored with a...
