For those who take it way too seriously
Hello all,
Sorry for the delay, but Ive been hammered at work, so I have to keep this one quick. Also, I would like to send my best out to SoUpS whos dad is hospital and thus he wont be contributing this week. Hope he is okay mate from all here at TS.
On with the review and we are 2 weeks out of the finals and things are heating up in all leagues around the country, with some make or break games due to happen this week. Do you trade to ensure top 4 in the finals (I say no unless you have heaps), do you trade to get in full stop (of course).
Key outs over the week cost a few I am sure (NDS in particular, cost me a game by 2 points and I dropped from 2nd to 5th in another league), but with a mass of ins, I am sure we saw some teams that were struggling get right back in the mix.
On to the review and in the TS 20 league, the weekly top score by SoUpS sees him move into the top spot, with Mash Sticks and Behind the Goals hot on his tail. Some close games saw Hard@It and Winners r Grinners sneak over the line against Sultans of Swing and Behind The Goals respectively, and game of the round was a 13 point thriller that saw The Green Jelly Bean take the chocolates over The Dirty Dozen.
In the Orange Boys (who moved up 10 posies to sit 179 overall), we had a top of the table clash that resulted in top place getting knocked off in a 30 point thriller. Next week shapes up as a crucial round for many teams with 2 top 8 games being played and 7 teams still vying for the last 4 spots in the finals.
The Pine Warmers continued there string run and moved into 19th overall and this round had a bit of everything. There was a few upsets, some massive movement up and down the ladder, a 2 point thriller and a whopping high score. The thing is, finals are open to anyone all the way down to 14th in this league (percentage makes it tough but not impossible)...it is tight like a tiger.
Veni Vidi Vici got over the line in the game of the round against Prospectus Boy...

So, were nearing the end of our run with the iScent comp, and with only one score below 50, six below 70, it was a pretty tough week!
But one selector managed to take out the prize with a score of 42.
matty.hutch, put in a great week, missing only 2 tips, which was better than the rest of us! Well done mate, expect an email in the not-too-distant future.

Was hoping that TAB would release the odds for most votes per team (as they did after Rd 16 last year), so wed have something other than the continuing Shaw-Hodge party to talk about - however, not to be. Â The significance of both of their best on ground performances over the weekend, is such that none of their main rivals polled a vote, increasing the gap from 2nd to 3rd to a now massive 9 votes - and an even bigger gap from 1st to 3rd of 13 votes. Â Unless the unlikelihood of them both being suspended happens before the finals, the only thing that is left to decided is wholl finish 1st and wholl be runner-up.
Other vote-getters of importance over the weekend were J Selwoods 2 in the Cats loss to the Crows, bringing him within 1 vote of Ablett and Bartel, along with BOGs for Boyd, Swallow and Goodes propelling them into the lead for their respective teams.
Over to the bookies, and TAB had Swan as outright favourite at $5 before suspending betting earlier this evening (not sure what the go is there...) with Hodge and Ablett equal 2nd favourite at $5.50 from memory.
All of this weeks votes over the page:

So, Round 16 and the king is dead. Gary "PermaCaptain" Ablett scored his second 70 in two weeks and his salary is TANKING! - And for mine, for the games sake, I couldnt be happier! I love the strategies involved in selection captains- Its a lot of fun! Might even need to bring back the weekly Captains post if it wasnt just pointing at Hodge, Goddard or Swan.
So, the first game, with big news, Former #16 crows take down the Cats!! Ablett, got himself a 76, Corey 72, Bartel 70. How the mighty ABC has come down! At least the S kicked on with a 144. Taylor also did well with a 138. The Crows biggest scorers were Vince, Stevens and Johncock with 113, 111 and 111. I reckon if the Crows can keep this form through to the end of the year, they are going to provide a lot of value next year- so keep an eye on them, particularly Vince. I reckon Tippett will prolly go better next year as well, just needs to drop out his 23 point games as like today.
Saturday day saw two games, both of them whitewashes. First up saw Collingwood decimate St Kilda to the tune of 48 points, in the process securing top spot on the ladder. I think after this weekend, the premiership race is well annd truely on! and for mine, with 3 teams vying for the top2, 5 teams for the top4, means that its going to be tough for teams to rest players. Which should be great news for us fantasy coaches!! As for the game, Fisher top scored with a 147 with a massive 18 marks, but not far behind was Swan on a 145. Rounding out the top 3 was Montagna on 137. On the low side, Davis dropped further below $300k! While J. Gram continued the kind of form that will make him a delicious pick up next year! Gotta keep an eye on those bargains now!
The next game saw the Hawks smash the Lions to the tune of 75 points. Lewis top scored with a massive 170, while Hodgy did his thing and picked up 153. Skipper was the big mover though, picking up a massive 149 and proving himself a great cashcow. Sucks to be sitting...

So, its Friday night, apparently- and theres a footy game on tonight! So I get to teach my new born all about the virtues of selecting big Gaz as captain- Cmon, get a 180 for mah boy!
On the same note, fingers are crossed that the first Bombers game he gets to watch is a win, cause I hear hes like the Groundhog- and if he first sees us lose, then its 3 more years of winter...
Ah well, its nice to be getting a little bit of normality around these parts, my team still sucks, but at least I should be able to catch a few games. Rock and roll.

With Walesy somewhat distracted at the minute with the recent arrival of his new born 84kg bomber (congrats once again Jo and Walsey, and welcome to the world of footy young Eli), here are the teams for this week and there are some huge ins and outs, none bigger than the much anticipated return of Jonothan Brown. Lets see if tens of thousands of coaches have been rewarded for their patience. Also named is a kid called Marcus from Caaaaarlton who ooozes class...one to keep your eye on for next year.
Some SuperCoach teams will be bolstered significantly (chris88

Hi all, sorry Im a day late.
OK its time to do some Best Buys analysis, and once again its a good time to think about how many trades we might need come finals time. Thats the advice for this week: Im thinking that 3 going into R19 is a good number. Currently I have 5 and Im planning one this week, and one over the next fortnight. Then three more for the year. Of these 5 I can see two sideways, two upgrades and one downgrade. I have $ in the bank to upgrade this week. Any less trades and I could not have the opportunity to roll with the punches, any more and I would have probably been in a stuffed position in leagues...well more than I am already (yes TS50 almost season over I admit).
So onto the quick decisions that need to be made by tomorrow evening:
<!--more-->
FRESH MEAT:
One to watch in defence is Ashley Smith who got a run from the Eagles and got over 90 on debut.
Jarryd Blair is a little ripper player for the Pies who will get a few more runs, but I cant see him being in the Pies best 22 for finals. Maybe will get another 3 but Id avoid if you want someone playing r19-22. In the Pies pecking order he is a shade ahead of Macaffer/McCarthy/OBree but behind the current injured players who will need to return to a full-strength Pie outfit (Davis/Medhurst/Maxwell/Dick)
Strijk from the Eagles is still relatively cheap for a downgrade
Forwards I was going to pick Daniel Stewart in my original team. Has talent and now getting the opportunity he deserves; Id imagine will get a good run from Primus. At 170k, Id say this week is the one to get on at the latest.
CATCH THE TRAIN:
Mathew Stokes is on the up and up, what a big game performer. Will get more points as the Cats need game time into him as the season goes. Im thinking a good run in the next few.
Goodes is now on the up. Thank goodness he got a midfield role and was back to Goodes of old. Hoping he will stay in the midfield for the good of my team.

Hello all and sorry for the delay, I have been unwell for a few days but better late than never.
Great round of footy last weekend meant a great round for league battles, but with some premiums under performing or withdarwing from games all together, we saw some low scores this week.
Lets start with SoUpS and the TS20 league as there were some blinders and beltings. Bend Sinister top scored for the round with 2450 and handed Siminoz a smashing to the tune of 350 points, Code Monkeys held off second placed Mash Sticks in a 26 point thriller but the game of the round was the blinder played out between top of the table Behind The Goals and second bottom placed The Stugots. The leader of the race just managed to hold out for a 15 point win meaning he now has 2 teams pecking at his heels.
On to the Pine Warmers who held their league position at 20th overall with a lowly 2167 point average for this round. A top 4 clash between Life Post-Richo and Whoknows? proved to be a let down with Whoknows? dishing out a 424 point belting. In other round smashings, fcmeh handed Snotties and 391 point flogging and Razors trounced Thunder Guns by 348 but the game of the round was a top 8 clash played out between the Krunchy Nuts and the PowerfromPort and resulted in a 38 point thriller with the Krunchy Nuts proving too strong and holding on to top spot.
Finally the Orange Boys where we had a 1 vs 2 top of the table clash which ended up with the Armchair Athletes doing the job over The Mob Goes Wild by 158 points and moving 2 games clear at the top, and the Portland Players snuck into second by percentage who are incidently playing teh Armchair Athletes this week. Can they leave all challengers in their wake? HFC-Premiers top scored for the round with 2,298 and gave Half Time Heroes a 261 flogging in the process and the league dropped a spot down to 189 with an average score this round of 2106.
Ladders, fixtures, etc over the break. <!--more-->

Seems that even with all the chaos that goes on, the iScent comp still has a winner, so Im showing my face in these parts to announce it!
- Firstly though, let me thank everyone for the kind words and emails Ive been receiving. Its nice to know you guys all care so much.
So, the winner for round 15 is, Psychobabble, congrats mate, youve done well on a score of 40 to take out this rounds win.
You picked 7 top5 players and only had one miss, OKeefe. Nice one.

Friday night saw Dane Swan cap off a magnificent month in football, picking up his 4th consecutive BOG after single-handedly getting the Pies back in the game in the second quarter. Â Pendlebury and Rodan both played fantastic games of their own, and will fight out the minor votes. Â Over the last month, Swan has averaged 37 possessions, 141 DreamTeam points, 141 SuperCoach points and 7.5 coaches votes per game. Â He now opens up a 4 vote lead - the biggest of the year - over Luke Hodge, and a massive 10 vote lead over Barlow and Goddard in equal third. Â A top two place is now all but guaranteed.
The Cats-Hawks rivalry just keeps getting better, and there was no shortage of great individual performances with Bartel, Selwood, Stokes, Chapman, Franklin & Rioli all in the mix for the votes - Bartel should get the 3 here, but throw a blanket over the rest. Â Jimmy now joins GAJ on 14 votes, and Chappy and Selwood arent far behind either....Centrebet still has Ablett at ridiculously short odds for most Cats votes, meaning you can get very nice odds on their other guns.
Scott Thompson backed up last weeks BOG with another over at Subiaco. Â Goodwin, Henderson, Tippett & Stevens are all a chance to poll too.
Keeping within the consecutive theme, Joey Montagna also collected another BOG up at the Gabba, meaning the race for most St Kilda votes is as tight as the Cats. Â I have Lenny and Rich with the minor votes, but Gwilt, Black and Ray are a chance also.
The Richmond train continues to roll on, with young guns Daniel Connors and Dustin Martin two of the big reasons they managed to get over the top of top 4 fancy Freo. Â Chris Newman picks up his 4th single vote for the year.
Over to Sunday and Adam Goodes picks up his first BOG for the year, moving along to 6 votes. Â Malceski was his consistent self and should pick up the 2, bringing him to 9 - the most of any Swan. Â Kennelly and Roberts-Thomson are also a chance.
