So, here we are, at fantasy footballs night of night.

The red carpet has been walked, and the WAGs are out in full flight.

The have been some winners, and a heck of a lot of shockers tonight, but there will only be one real winner tonight.

So without further ado, lets move onto round one.

Round One.

The season opened with two former West Coast champions, battling for their new clubs. But it was Carlton, led by their captain, Chris Judd and a massive effort by Marc Murphy that got Carlton over the line. Meanwhile the grand final rematch turned out to be a ripper with Geelong again failing to convert in front of goal, and Hawthorn making it an eight point ball game.

Now, to prevent this post from being ludicrously big, well cut it down to reveal the...
Yes, were still here! :D

And I come baring a gift. (Well, just a little gift. If I had more time, it would be a much more *awesome* gift!)

<a href="http://tooserious.net/?page=main&comp_code=DT&round=23">DT Finals Stats.

Normally my site is coded to ignore finals games, but you can still get there with the above link.

Hopefully it helps you in selecting your team for tonight!

Also.

EPL! Its back on again this weekend! So if youve got a squad (or yanno, THREE OF THEM!) Then get your trades in, your benches worked out and your wildcards finalized!

The TS League is still smashing out miles in front of the competition. So lets keep it that way guys!! :D

And finally, Drinks on Saturday! Hopefully people can make it! As far as finding the crowd, I probably should have bought myself a TS hat or something so I would be recognized. Ah well, well just have to wing it. Ive roughly 6 foot, a mop of brown curly hair, rugged good looks, strong muscula... alright, Ill stop there.

Anyways, Ill probably be standing around in one of the following yellow circles.

<a href="http://s30.photobucket.com/albums/c346/shalexade/?action=view&current=MitreTavern.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c346/shalexade/MitreTavern.png" border="0" alt="Photobucket">

Watching one of the green TV screens. The red TV is only good if youre interested in grabbing some grub!

Peace guys, and I hope to see you there!
So the squad of 40 has been announced, and with it, a new competition sponsered by Four N Twenty.

<a href="http://www.afl.com.au/AFLHQ/Awards/AllAustralian/Competition/tabid/15004/Default.aspx">Four N Twenty All Australian Comp.

Pretty easy comp to get into to with a nice enough prize for the 2 minutes it takes you to enter your team. :)

(Also, you might notice that Fridays game will not be mentioned. :D)
So, the official results for the Too Serious leagues are in.

The TooSerious Legends SMASHED the TooSerious Champs!

So, here are the lucky prize winners.

From the Champs:

1st: McGregor Booms - Clint - $650.
2nd: WTF Just Happened - Clint - $100.
3rd: Squad Spudwick - Julian - Wine.

With the grand final winner being: The Ninja Penguins - Michael - $50 and Wine.

From the Legends:

1st: Windy Hill Wizards - Ilmar - $650.
2nd: Kismet - Dennis - $100.
3rd: Impromptu - Jay - Wine.

With the grand final winner being: Windy Hill Wizards - Ilmar - $50 and Wine.

So, Im going to need these people to get in contact with me so that we can arrange payment/delivery of wine.

Cheers folks, it was great fun! I reckon next year will be even bigger!

(PS- The B&F will be saved for next week, maybe even the week after... so keep tuning in... ;) )
So, weve had interest in running an end of year drinks, so Im thinking a quietish pub, in the middle of the city (For ease of access), where we should be able to drink a few tasty beverages, talk crap about football, and watch what should be one heck of a game.

So, Im thinking my favorite pub should do the trick, The Mitre Tavern.

The Mitre Tavern
5 Bank Place
Its a lane off that runs between Collins and little Collins, between William and Queen.
Or, in google maps: <a href="http://maps.google.com.au/maps?rlz=1C1DVCB_enAU335AU335&sourceid=chrome&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=the+mitre+tavern&near=Melbourne+VIC&fb=1&split=1&gl=au&cid=0,0,17407796689266160097&ei=PXCeSp-fOsz-kAXVhPDZBA&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=image&resnum=1">here

Im thinking the game starts at 7ish, so rocking up around then should do the trick.

Anyways, Ive no idea how many people will make it, nor can I promise a good time, but Im sure that the more that show up, the better it will be. Give us all a chance to put faces to names or even meet some of you mightnt post, but enjoy lurking.
Before I start my first ever TooSerious post, I would first like to take the opportunity to officially thank Walesy for all the work he does on the site, it has been a godsend to me over the last year and a half.  Also to Lucas, knighty and all posters who freely offer up advice every week even if they are giving up trade secrets.  If there is a question needed to be answered, guaranteed someone on this site knows the answer such is the wealth of knowledge.

Ok, now that thats off my chest, Walesy has asked me to put toghether a sort of SuperCoach year in review for my all conquering Buster Gonads.  So here it is...

Pre Season:

I think getting the right team before Round 1 is the most important part of the season.  Without a strong initial team, too many trades are wasted on getting competitive.  I tried to create a nice blend of premiums who were decently priced, some injured
returning players who i could depend on, some severely under priced stars and then the un-tried rookies.  The one exception to this is the great one, Gary Ablett Jnr.  Not having him would be like racing the Tour de France not for Team Astana, whats the point?  So pre-season Im hoping for a top 1000 finish after a top 2,000 finish in 08.

So my initial team was:

Backs : Goddard, Fisher (my only 2 premiums in defence), Drummond, Chornes, Raines, Houlihan (returning from injury), Hill, Petrenko, Broughton (rookies).

Mids : Gaz (my pride and joy, show him off to all the girls etc etc...), Judd, Gibbs, Selwood (4 premiums in the middle, altho i went Gibbs and Selwood as two, what i thought, under priced premiums), Skipworth (returning from injury), Rich, L Anthony, Otten (rookies).

Rucks : Cox (duh...), McIntosh (under priced proven performer), Spencer and Jacobs (no money on the bench in the rucks, complete waste!).

Forwards : Chapman, Buddy, Delidio, Pavlich (4 premiums here too), Higgins (star who was WAY under priced), Krakeour (thought a break out...
So there we have it, a huge year in football thats had many highs and lows. The end to Geelongs in air of immunity, St. Kilda trying to fill those vacated boots, Last years premiers missing the finals, an 8th spot that just didnt want to be sown up.

So the biggest news for the year? Chris "Buster Gonads", regular commenter and all round good guy, has taken out the grand prize!

Top year lad. Seriously, you played the year beautifully, and never lost you cool. Youre an inspiration to the rest of us!

But we didnt all come first. So post your ranking if you want to have a little brag. I myself came 1323. Was aiming for better, but really dropped off in the past few weeks.

But hey, while Supercoach is giving out 50k- weve still got a good 2k to hand out to all the lucky winners.

Not just that though, but thank so much to a very generous donation, weve got some lovely bottles of wine to send out to both of the TS league Grand Final winners, to truly celebrate your win!

Also, thanks to the same generous donor, weve also got some lovely bottle of wine to give to the people who came third in overall points in both the leagues. I like to call them the Krispy special. ;)

Ill work out and contact the winners in the not too distant future (and get a post up as well) - So Bray, if you could email me the results and scores of everyone over in the Champs, that would be fantastic! :D

Ill also announce the winner of the TooSerious Best and Fairest. I havent checked the scores on it for a number of weeks now, so even Im excited to see how it works out!

Also, I gotta slip this in somewhere.

Alms, Alms, Alms for the poor. I got five kids to feed man. Seriously though, Im sure weve helped, so if you can tip a few bucks into the jar on the way out, well be very appreciative.

Now, Im sure Ive forgotten something, but hey, until I remember it- peace out!

...

alright, enough break. What now?

Well, first of all, weve got the DreamTeam Finals comp...
So, its all done. Nothing more can be done except to watch.

And what I saw tonight- Le Cras is well and truely on next years radar. Heck, Lids might even have done enough to get a spot in next years squad... Even if *gasp* hes reclassified as just a mid... (touch wood)

On a completely different note (And I dont often talk about my personal life, but...) - I bought a new house today! Woohoo! So even though Ive missed all mah grand finals, still a winner. :D

Anyways, while this is a thread for discussion on round 22- theres a plan for a post-season-TS-drinks, so can we get a quick straw poll on which weekend people would prefer- 2nd round of finals or 3rd?
It all comes down to this.

One day in August.

The day when Supercoach dreams are made. And crushed.

Across the nation, Supercoaches are making the finals teaks to their squads.

Using the last of their trades if theyre lucky enough to have them.

Setting their captains and their benches (again- if youre lucky enough to have em.)

Speaking of bench coverage.

The battle for the greatest prize is reaching its pinacle. And it looks like it might come down to a battle of atrician.

Franklin out (+1 PK Le Grand)
Newman out (+1 Buster)

That said though, its a 150 point difference, and football is a funny thing with both teams having 9 players different.

While Im here, Ive gotta give a shout out to the Black Sun Empire. Hes been making a massive charge of things in the past couple of weeks. Up to 14 and looking good to crack the top 10. Tarqs, keep thumbing your nose at the DreamTeam Gods my friends, and the SuperCoach gods will reward... ;)

Just to word all those prize winners out there, as were approaching the end of the season, Ill be contacting all the winners to confirm payment and stuff.

League winners, Grand final winners and of course, the winner of the inaugral Too Serious Best and Fairest award.

Who will it be on that most extravagant of night of nights?

This wont be the last post for the season, so I wont pour on heavy the excitement revolving around next year, but Im pretty excited. We had big changes this year, and Im imagining big changes for next.

Anyways, good luck to you all in your finals.

And CARN THE BOMBERS!!!!!
