TooSerious

For those who take it way too seriously

So, without a full week to review, my time (and yours) might be better spent having a look at the next generation of youngsters.

Particulary with the AFL running <a href="http://www.afl.com.au/development/nabaflrisingstarsprogram/nabunder18s/u18allaustraliancompetition/tabid/14416/default.aspx">this ripper of a comp.

$1000 to the person who can predict the 22 players you think will recieve all Australian honours after the championships.

Get up to date with your rookies for next year and at the same time, put yourself in for the chance for $1000.

Can it get any better?

So, who do we expect to get in?

Well, the obvious names to look at would be out of the following:

Tom Scully and Kane Lucas, both should be first round midfield picks in the coming draft.
John Butcher, with his performance so far, is being touted as a #1 pick over Scully up there.

But after that, theres a couple of stand up names, like Carey, Morabito, Matera... But I dont know if I would *lock* them in just yet.

Anyways, Ill submit the following team for your perusal.

B : Andrew Hooper, Sam Reid, Marcus Davies
HB: Josh Toy, Daniel Talia, David Swallow
C : Jack Trengove, Kane Lucas, Anthony Morabito
HF: Jesse Crichton , John Butcher, Alex Carey
F : Brandon Matera ,Ben Griffiths, Gary Rohan
Fo: Nathan Vardy, Tom Scully, Hayden Jolly

IC: Zac Smith, Jack Darling, Koby Stevens, Allen Christensen

Not a bad starting place, but with two more weeks remaining, Im sure it will change a lot!

Anyways, good luck with this one! And keep an eye on those championships!
In the absence of anything up for the weekend, heres as good a spot as any for celebrations and commiserations.

Should be an interesting game tonight - and it shapes as a huge game which can determine the entire matchup with clutch in/out of form players such as Nick Dal Santo, Bryce Gibbs, Brendan Fevola and Justin Koschitzke on the park.

Hope your teams go well, and may the comments begin.

Oh yeah for Captains, how about that Ablett fellow.

If you dont have him simply pick your best average player for this week.  Its as good a tip as any I can give.
For once, something went RIGHT with my backline mid-week.

Paddy Ryder, we love the boy here. And with his rough contact hanging over his head, its needless to say that Ive been worrying.

But we can all(?) breathe a sigh of relief. Both as Bomber fans and as Supercoach fans.

<a href="http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/afl/story/0,26576,25607581-19742,00.html">Paddy got off his charge! No donuts for me for the next 2 weeks! :D

<blockquote>ESSENDON took a huge gamble and won when Paddy Ryder, its last big man standing, beat a rough conduct charge last night. </blockquote>
Hi all

Nothing against Paddy and Walesy, but its time for more thinking reading over lunch.   Very happy for the Bombers that they get Ryder "back", but even happier that at the moment their ladder position is in double digits again for what the fifth year running :)   It does appear the top 8 sides from last year and the sides that "are coming" got their act together on the weekend and it was interesting watching.   Now, onto some Best Buys as normal.

These are not always the most in-form players at the price, but they may provide you with ammunition for an assault at the main prize.   Just dont burn your trades too soon.   With Boomer Harvey maybe back straight after the break, the Cho a possibility later in the year, and other great value options sure to appear, you dont want to miss them by making a sideways interchange trade for $100k.

Id reckon somewhere from 7-9 trades will be fine to get home with from here, particularly if your team is set.  Heck, even 6 is probably fine to just make injury/"I drove through Kew on a wet night drunk as a skunk and lied to my coach and my teammates" changes.

Without further ado, heres the Best Buys for this week:
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">[span style="font-size: small;">[span style="font-family: Calibri;">DEF
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">[span style="font-size: small;">[span style="font-family: Calibri;">Rookie - Grima (156500), Hurley (154200), Pearce (83400)
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">[span style="font-size: small;">[span style="font-family: Calibri;">No value here.[span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  Grima could get games in weakened North outfit.
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">[span style="font-size: small;">[span style="font-family: Calibri;">Midrange - Milburn (395600), Gilbee (404000), H Shaw (420000)
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">[span style="font-size: small;">[span...
And another week rolls by.

One in which I logged my worst ever DreamTeam score ever. Good thing Im a Supercoach... :)

Ablett once again top scored for the week, proving to everyone why he needs to be in your team!

Goodes and Judd both rounded out the top 3 with respectable scores.

Fev, Kosi and Didak all did very well this week and are all deliciously priced to fill any holes in your forward lines.

But, as seen by my DreamTeam score, not all was roses this week. A 3 for Drummond and a consecutive 60 for Neon Leon will see both look to be tasty upgrade options once they hit back into some form.

Sewells bubble finally burst with a 73 while Goodwins 52 will hurt a lot.

Malceskis 7 I think has proven to all that if you havent got off him yet, then what are you waiting for!

But it wasnt all doom and gloom. Hodge and Franklin both bounced back this week, and another decent showing will have both players in prime position to grab!

On a different note, the TooSerious Legends have extended their lead on the League pack, partly due to the whooping 2553 scored by Impromptu. (ha! partly!) - Sadly, scored in a week where you needed 2,740 to bring in the prize. (Sucks to be the guy who came second and third! break 2700 and not win the weekly. OUCH!).
Although it was the Windy Hill Wizards who jumped up into first place in the league with a mighty 2394 (61st overall).

And finally, the woodyman continued his climb up the ladder to 3rd (Yes, were all watching you mate! :D)

So, how did your week go? Was there enough good to offset your bad? or is the season over at the break?
Opening early to bring you this piece of <a href="http://www.theage.com.au/news/rfnews/laidley-unfazed-by-coaching-speculation/2009/06/05/1243708608368.html">info

<blockquote>"Ive probably got bigger problems right now trying to find a fit 22. Weve probably got six or seven guys who have come down with a really strong bout on gastro and diarrhoea in the last 48 hours, so a few of them wont train today," he said.

"Well meet this afternoon (and decide) who is and who isnt going to play."

Jack Ziebell and Ben Warren are in serious doubt for Saturdays match, with Aaron Edwards, Ben Ross, Hamish McIntosh, David Hale and Shannon Watt the others affected by the bug. </blockquote>

So watch out if youre holding any Roos! (And get on the Saints if youre a betting man! :D)
Bit harsh of the Chasers last night, putting the Queens rooms up for rent the week before her birthday. :D Maybe they should have asked Terry Wallace what his wish is. Heres who I think will win, lose and perform well.

Friday June 5
Richmond v Western Bulldogs at Docklands, 7.40pm

Sentiment will be high in the Tigers camp with Terry Wallace coaching his last game. Despite that, I doubt they can beat the Bulldogs, who were super against the Swans last week. Last year Newman did the tagging job on Daniel Cross and both were below average, so maybe consider another replacement for the Chad. Deledio scored 125, but is nowhere near good enough for the captaincy. Look out for Robert Murphy, who will add another dimension to the Dogs, and the return of Alex Rance from injury.

Saturday June 6
North Melbourne v St Kilda at Docklands, 2.10pm

History beckons as St Kilda attempts to win its 11th game in a row for the first time in the clubs history. Hamish McIntosh is the great hope for the Roos, as the Saints ruck division looks very unhealthy minus Michael Gardiner. Fantasy star Sam Gilbert is also out for the Saints. Watch out for Justin Koschitzke, who scored 167 last time in a dominant display, while Riewoldt got 146 to put his name up for captaincy once again.

Brisbane Lions v Carlton at the Gabba, 7.10pm

Chris Judd loves the Lions, scoring 120+ in his last two games against them. Despite this, I dont think Carlton has the firepower to defeat Brisbane at the Gabba, especially without Jarrad Waite.  Fevola also likes the Lions, found some form last week and should do well again, but it may be a lost cause trying to contain Brownshaw. Bradshaw is particularly dangerous, with 12 goals in his last two matches against the Blues. Look to see what role Brett Ratten has in store for Carrazzo and Scotland, who have been lanquishing in the VFL for the last few weeks.

Port Adelaide v Fremantle at AAMI...
Oh yeah its time for another week of trading.   First and foremost, some tips for trading:

- Only bring in keepers

- Save some trades for disasters, some have already had them and you will in the next 11 rounds still have more of them, luck wont miraculously turn unfortunately.

- 8 is the minimum Id like to surf home with from here-on to win my league.  And youd want a fairly settled 22 with a few subs with those 8 trades.   Winning the league you may well need 4 trades at Round 18.

Anyway, onto the Best Buys for the week (remember to read them because people asking questions about Ryder this week about whether he was value...cmon he was top of the Best Buys of course he is value!!)

DEF
Rookie - Broughton (164600), Henderson (183700), Cheney (198100)
Broughton picks himself, the rest are duds.  No value here at all.
Midrange - Ryder (435100), Harding (394600), Enright (448500)
Great value in the midrange now, with more to come in future weeks:
Hodge, Milburn, Gilbert all getting into the low 400s/high 300s
Premium - Newman (490600), Fisher (497700), Goddard (570400)
Though Goddard can go cheaper, hes not bad value if you want an upgrade target.
The other two - Newman/Fisher are the perfect trade-ins for Chornes.

MID
Rookie - Muston (94200), Sheldon (180800), Swift (94200)
Muston, no one else thanks very much.
Midrange - Power (419700), Cooney (441500), Kerr (343400)
More speculative at this price zone.  Trade in if no other real options.
Premium - Ablett (701700), Dal Santo (515400), Cross (473600)
Given Ablett is a Supercoach freak, this is as low as he goes.
Dal is super-low also for a few wks, and Cross in the past has been SuperCoach gold.

FWD
Rookie - Wright (151500), Garlett (142200), Henderson (183700)
Like the look of Wright.  Maybe just too expensive now.
Midrange - Fevola (359700), Brown (414900), Byrnes (413600)
Could almost do a straight Dale Thomas-Fev swap.  Thats how low Fev is at the moment =...
Just though I would give it its own topic... ;)

Scores are up. Lots of injuries. Cornes! Ablett? things to chase up, people to see, so there will be more detail up later.

Morning all. And watch out for that swine flu!
No big suprises last night. Carlton won. Kade once again perform better than most expects, Le Cras didnt make a ton, even though he kicked 6, and Houlihan made any of the people who held onto him, very happy.

How are you all going?
