For those who take it way too seriously

So, one more round of the byes incoming.

How good were those Sainters!!

Feels like a toughish round, but at least I had Collins on the ground instead of Tucker! :D

And who held Menadue all this time? The little ripper *finally* paid off! :D

How'd you go?
1 game down and we are off to a good start, only missing the margin by 5.

Have now updated with the rest of our tips, and the write up of the most interesting/only interesting game for the remainder of the weekend - Collingwood v Fremantle.

Read over for all that and more (well actually just all that)...
Early lockout this week folks!

Looks like Wells hasn't made the trip to Adelaide. Wonder what other suprises will be in stall for us.
Last week Trengove was a bit of a no-brainer, and pretty much a risk-free pick as far as a Buy of the Week is concerned. He did as expected, scoring a handy 67 and we should see his price continue to rise with scores of that nature and hopefully higher.

Meanwhile, remember a few weeks back we were making a decision between Priddis (my choice) and Gray (the people’s choice) as to who was the best mid worth ~$500k? Well it turns out neither has done great since then.
Priddis looked like a mummy last week, which may have impacted his score, and only managed 76 after scores of 101, 114 and 105 the previous weeks.
Gray has done just as bad, or slightly worse, with a 78 last week after scores of 109, 89 and 113 in the previous weeks.
Turns out Flanders had it right with Jack Steven who has managed 138, 99 and 164 – but he had a bye last week. I apologise again Ned.

Steven is not the Buy of the week this week (has gone up in price too much), but read on to find who they are…
Well, looks like I'm getting meatloafed in my cash league this week, by someone who will be fielding maybe 8 players next week.

Great strategy for leagues as it near guarentees 2 wins over the bye period, terrible for the overall though.

Ah well, maybe I'll face a meatloaf on a down week next week. :D

How have you all gone this week? Well positioned for the next few rounds?

It’s a massive three weeks in the ORFFA. Not only do all the coaches get the chance to touch up their team lists with the mid season draft, but the ORFFA coaches also get stuck into each other with a state of origin series.

Given the teams are spread far and wide, from Iron Knob to the land of the Long White Cloud… choosing exactly what constituted a players ‘State of Origin’ and what the make up of the teams was going to be was not straight forward. After some debate (well let’s be honest, I just decided it), The ORFFA teams split up into the teams from Vic/Tas, and the Rest!

The Vic/Tas teams consisted of players from the following sides:

Charlie's Opening Spelunkers
Cradle Mountain Devils
Darraweit Guim Dirigibles
Gariwerd Cockatoos
Lovely Banks Lilacs
Mount Beauty Uglies
Nunawading Nuffers
Venus Bay Vultures
Wineglass Bay Packers

The Rest (to be referred to periodically in the rest of this post as ‘The Stench’) were comprised of:

Birdsville Battlers
Foul Bay Cheaters Chickens
Gundagai Grasshoppers
Iron Knob Codpieces
Larrikin Lagoon Lefties
Marble Bar Misfits
Wagga Wagga Wombats
Waikikamoocow Incorrigibles
Whitsunday Warriors

The Stench coaches have been talking up their hopes during the week, and when you look at their lineup it is bloody impressive, however the Big VT is quietly confident that they can knock off the Rest if they perform to their best.

There are some tantalising matchups in the squads, so let’s have a look at the teams line by line :

Vic Tas Backs:
Sam Docherty (Venus Bay), Kade Simpson (Nunawading), Matthew Boyd (Mt Beauty), Alex Rance (Darraweit Guim), Emergency : Jasper PITTARD (Venus Bay)

The Stench Forwards:
Josh J. Kennedy (Whitsunday), Daniel Wells (Birdsville), Leigh Montagna (Larrikin Lagoon), Lance Franklin (Wagga Wagga), Emergency : Josh Jenkins (Wagga Wagga)

Vic/Tas go for speed versus size, with Rance the only big guy to be lining up against JJK and Buddy.... bandit previews the action, balls will roll......
So ummm sorry about last week!!! If anyone is still reading this, well done to you for maintaining the faith. Our once 6 tip lead over bookies favourites has now crashed to just 1 as we went hurtling down the tipping ladder last week with just a feeble 2 tips to leave us on 78 for the season.

Turn over to check out our Round 13 tips and mid-season review.
So, we already know 6 teams won't be fronting up.

Nor will Lycett.

What other traps will be in store for this opening bye round?
The Spud Round
In honour of the humble potato, or this could mean player as there have many a spud in the players of past and I’m sure in the future.

Wineglass Bay Packers 1149 def Gundagai Grasshoppers 1004

A match for the ages? Nup.

A fitting celebration of our themed round? Probably.

With the Gundagai rollercoaster now into top gear, coach Tracey woulda been sharting in her Chardonnay at the prospect of facing this maniacal Hopper unit. Fears were quickly allayed as snoz rolled into town with enough starch to make the Irish skip a beat.

Cameos across the board for the home side with Wilson, Sloane, Hutchings and Lynch were soured somewhat by the mire of Williams, Hendo and oop ruck Jansen. Visitors in Rocky and Grundy peeled off their opponents with ease but were heavily overshadowed by the putridness of…everyone else. Hats off coaches, a stunning potato au gratin appetizer.

Darraweit Guim Dirigibles 1271 def Charlies Opening Spelunkers 1188

If you’re looking for a lesson in how to turn your fortunes around, look no further than the Guim. In Bolton-esque fashion, the deployment of caretaker coach Christophe Richestein has seen the Blimps take out 3 of their last 4 and give team a sense of collective hope. Acknowledging that this hope stuff can be an insidious disease, The Guim management have been quick to sever any lingering comradery by trading out a bevy of talent. Oh yeah, the game. Despite the Guim form line, this one was harder to pick than BJ’s halftime honker. Late outs to both sides made this one an interesting depth test, with Tucker winning the emergency showdown. However the KO of Spitta and spud showings from Jack and the Frenchman, put the Troggs on the back foot for most of the day. For the home side, a great team effort that would have all players involved very proud, right before half of them catch the last bus to nowhere.

Whitsunday Warriors 1291 def Birdsville Battlers 1154

What is it with this...
With the week TipBetPro had, I’m surprised Rockliff didn’t do his knee 5 seconds into the game...
He did okay, but we all know the true test for those that picked up Rockliff is whether he gets injured or not for the rest of the season.

Speaking of injuries, there were a few injuries last week which will impact a number of teams – NicNat, Dahlhaus and Tippett (did I miss anyone? did you have all 3?), not to mention it’s the first bye round. So read on to find out who we look at for our BoTW – there are plenty of options this week.
