TooSerious

For those who take it way too seriously

There's a heck of a lot of outs, and not much relief sitting in the IN column! OUCH!

IN: JPK, R. Gray, Sheridan, Mathieson,
OUT: Papley, Ruggles, Ablett, Hall, Crouch, Crouch, Boyd
Pendlebury!!! And Shaw and Docherty did well too, but the less said about Parker the better. So now we move on to Round 9.

Last year it was with great sadness that we had to say goodbye to Phil Walsh, so this round we raised a glass and remembered him... in the round that Adelaide played Geelong, the two teams whose game was cancelled last year.

It was a cracking round of ORFFA games. Read on for the reviews:

Iron Knob Codpieces 1125 vs Gundagai Grasshoppers 1169
Lets start with the upset of the round, where perennial wooden spooner Gundagai managed to beat the team with the coach who has seemed to take the most delight in Snoz's collection of timberware, jimbowan, even with just 14 fit players. The Grasshoppers played one short in defence but both teams' defences were poor, with the game obviously played in the middle where Grundy (114) was able to smash the out of position Jack Darling (27) in the ruck, giving great service to his Grasshopper teammates, Curnow (129), Neale (123), Cripps (115) and Adams (111). Iron Knob found only 3 centurions all up, to the 7 of Gundagai - including big Mason Cox (102) who is looking like a great addition to Snoz's team.

Cradle Mountain Devils 1169 vs Larrikin Lagoon Lefties 1388
Last year's premiers, Larrikin Lagoon turned it on in this one, with one of the highest team scores of the round. It was a great all round performance by the Lefties, with winners all of the ground, from Baguley (120) down back, to Priddis (123), Lewis (122) and Goddard (109) in the middle, Goldstein (105) in the ruck, and Montagna (110) up forward, they were hard to beat. Pendlebury (157) gave it his best for the Devils, and Jacob Hopper put in a fine performance in their magoos after being named as an emergency.

Birdsville Battlers 1344 vs Venus Bay Vultures 1190
Birdsville snapped a 4 game losing streak with an impressive performance over one of the favourites for the flag this season. The Battlers have had a fairly difficult FIXture for the start of the season, but they would have hoped for a win last week against the otherwise winless...
Man oh man, looks like those outs are taking their toll!

Seeing a bunch of puss scores all over the place!

Bound to be some big scores though if you dodged the bullets and hit those unique(ish) guys that hit though!
Dd you know Dangerfield is playing against his old club, Adelaide, in Adelaide? You'd think the media would mention it once or twice...

So Supercoach! Trade season in full swing. Did you double-down, one-up one-down this week. What's your plan?

For the 30k coaches that have him, Houli is a late out for Richmond. Which makes an even bigger headache if you're already trying to cover donuts in the forward line! Good luck.
We enjoyed a great round of tipping in Round 7 with the highlight indisputably predicting Carlton to take care of business against Collingwood. 8 correct tips (only 80 odd points out on the Suns!) took us to 46 for the season and well entrenched in the upper quartile of tipsters. A couple more upsets predicted by TipBetPro for this round – read over for our Round 8 Tips and a look at the two games where our model differs from the bookies market.

So, it's chaos in the forward line, but not too bad in the others. Still ducking and covering though. :D

INS: Milera, Parish, Mitchell, Hooper, Adams, Rance, S. Gray
OUTS: McCarthy, Wells, Barlow, Greene, Rockliff, Adams
Well Shaw did okay, but let’s hope for a bit more out of him in future weeks. Parker however didn’t back up his previous week’s performance – but all of that is history now.

Flagpoles were snapped off at half-mast around the country this week as we honoured the fallen Hoppers three-peat.

Gundagai Grasshoppers 1037 def by Larrikin Lagoon Lefties 1218

Slicked with swamp-mire from the season breaking rains on KI, the Lefties trudged across the ditch to no man’s land to try and restore some pride after a dismal display the week prior. Mr Cripps was chomping at the bit to turn it on against his old club and the home crowd was not disappointed. In what was to be a bitter-sweet symphony, Cripps and Curnow tore the Lefties (and Pies) midfield apart. Cruelly, their superiority came at the expense of Aish, Cox and Grundy who floundered around looking for Rocky’s missing hammy. Gibson and Lewis surprised for the visitors, after finally being relieved of their back-breaking grind of having to prop up Jay Schulz (Weekend at Bernie’s style) at mid-week media events. A generally underwhelming contest with some forward line cameos from the Package and the Magic Haggis (prizes awarded for working that one out) giving the Hoppers false hope, only to be snuffed out by Joey late in the game.

Venus Bay Vultures 1187 def Iron Knob Codpieces 1025

Now we all know it’s a friggin long drive from the middle of nowhere in SA over to gloomy Venus Bay, so no one blames the Codpiece outfit for indulging in a light dusting of meth to see the journey through. However, it appears that ice was on the menu for all three courses, as the ‘Pieces rolled into town on another galaxy. Iron Knob’s ice-bender had them seeing snowmen all over the place with Gaz 82, Burger 80, Macrae 82, J Roo 84 and Hanley 58. On the flipside, the Vultures forward line proved that they are great breeders of one-trick ponies, with a knackery-worthy performance. As the match wore on, Coach Fitzy started beaming like a kid in a candy store as he legally sipped away on his tasty beverage and watched Docherty and Pittard towel up an...
Reckon I'll be lucky to crack 2k this week!

Which bizarrely, doesn't look too far off par!

Though I do see a couple of big 2300's around the traps

How'd you go?
