<p dir='ltr' style='margin-top: 0pt; margin-bottom: 8pt;]The Chief's choice of opponent paid off in spades. Having brushed aside the Cows he must now firm as favourite for another flag. An anticipated donut up forward for the Cows rubbed salt into the wound, but they were never in the race as a few unheralded Chooks stepped up to the plate. Heater top scored with 164 and there was a handy 112 from Danger. But it was 121 from Michael Johnson, 107 from Sam Wright and 106 from Zach Smith in ruck that sealed the deal. The Cows were brave 119 from Sauce, 115 from Mcveigh, 108 from Fyfe and 103 from Harry Taylor (‘bout bloody time). Sadly the Waikiks fell away at the pointy end of the season while the Chooks look to be building nicely.

The Packers had some major contributors with 149 from Rory (no, we don't regret that trade), 142 from Sandi and Hutchings on the interchange with 121. But it was the 9 from Fasolo, 29 from Garlett and 30 from Lake that was the Packer's downfall. The early holiday for Smurf might have the Birds struggling. Foul Bay are seasoned campaigners and know what it's all about.

As I'm sure many of you will have noticed, what with the lateness and all, I've been flat out this week and can't do much of an intro.
Luckily this week there is no single Best Buy, as it all comes down to who your opponents are playing, so keep an eye on team selections and pay careful attention to POD options and the AFL opponents for teams this week. Good luck to all in the penultimate round of SC for the year, and hopefully we can all put up some big scores.

DEFENSE
ROOKIES

Jonathon Marsh (COL) D/F 123.9k 52 +36k

Marsh is on the bubble this week, just in time for a few coaches needing some cash in a hurry. He's a D/F and priced at just 124 grand, and after his 71 last week is averaging a solid 52. Marsh will likely be a popular trade in this week for teams with a few trades up their sleeves, and his flexibility could be very beneficial at this stage of the season.

Daniel Howe (HAW) DEF 117.3k 18 -7k
Howe is also on the bubble this week, but is so far much less appealing than Marsh. A score of 11 in his second game gives him an average of 18, and an expected price movement of minus 7 grand. Howe is 6 grand cheaper than Marsh however, and the majority of coaches won't be expecting to field any rookies they might bring in this round.
MID-PRICERS

Bachar Houli (RIC) DEF 453.4k 96 15.3%

Houli is still hanging in there as one of the better defenders this season, albeit at the bottom of the depth chart. His score of 101 last outing has placed his season's average at 96, and so far he's sitting in around 15% of teams. A bit of a POD, but fairly good value for his 450 grand price tag and has the potential to score well.

Tom McDonald (MEL) DEF 413k 95 23%

McDonald is also in the Best Buys again, with his average of 95 and price of 413 grand. After a break-out season for the defender many will be keeping a close eye on him for next year, and if he can work on his consistency he should be a great...
It feels strange looking for a picture of this weeks top scorer, but hey, 13 kicks, 20 handballs and 15 tackles made a massive score for Mitch Robinson.
On a side note, did anyone else noticed that Goldi had a predicted SC score of 187 this week?! Surely that's a record right? What a super star. (Sadly, it makes his 122 look weak in comparison! :D)
So, how did we do this week? Injuries cutting yet?

So with the first round of SC finals for the year done and dusted many coaches will be looking to get an advantage over their opponents this week, but also a fair few likely to save trades after earning themselves a week off. This means that there is the potential for some big moves in overall rankings, as well as some surprise results for leagues. Crunch time in SC is well and truly upon us.

That brings us to the Best Buy for this week, and a likely surprise for many, Joel Selwood. After a poor season in SC terms Ducky finally appears to be pulling it together, with some impressive scores over the last few rounds and Geelong mounting a big push for finals action. And yes I am aware that I used the Duckwood pun last season, but it's a good one and as is increasingly the case this year I'm fairly pressed for time.

DEFENSE
ROOKIES

Matthew Scharenberg (COL) DEF 123.9k 40 +20k
Scharenberg is finally on the bubble at Collingwood, after a series of injuries delayed the promising defender's debut. An average of 40 from his first 2 games will give him an expected price rise of around 20 grand after his next match, but really any prospective coaches will just be looking for him to stay on the field over the remaining rounds.

MID-PRICERS

Bachar Houli (RIC) DEF 438.8k 96 14.3%

Houli, like a lot of defenders this season, has been fairly inconsistent of late. A score of 103 against the Crows has pushed his average back to 96 for the season and he will likely be around 14 grand more expensive next week. The Tigers have one of the better draws through SC finals this year, and Houli should be able to keep his scores around the 100 mark if Richmond can continue to perform.

Tom McDonald (MEL) DEF 410.1k 95 22.7%
McDonald has also been very up and down this year, starting the season on fire before dropping off significantly and now jumping between good and poor scores. A price of 410 grand is good value for a...

<div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]1402 Birdsville Battlers vs Foul Bay Chickens 1489
<div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]The Chooks pulled one out of the bag in this match of the round between first and fifth. JC had the Battlers up and about early, with Bachar Houli kicking to the flanks instead of up the guts, giving Enright and Tom McD a much needed chop out in the back line. The Chooks forward line responded well with a combined score of 386 across the line, but it was in the guts where the game was won. In a rather strange move, ChiefBet opted to leave Zac Smith on the pine in recognition of Seaby, and went with the shortest man in his team, Matthew Stokes, to take on Big Boy McEvoy in the ruck. The Stokes move ended up being a masterstoke (see what I did there), with Danger, Cunnington and Selwood ripping the clearances to shreds. Foul Bay will be worried coming into finals without a ruck however, and only time will tell if they will pay the price. Birdsville, harbouring hopes of a Top 4 finish, will lick their wounds and come back for a must win game against Darraweit Guim this week.
