So with the first round of SC finals for the year done and dusted many coaches will be looking to get an advantage over their opponents this week, but also a fair few likely to save trades after earning themselves a week off. This means that there is the potential for some big moves in overall rankings, as well as some surprise results for leagues. Crunch time in SC is well and truly upon us.
That brings us to the Best Buy for this week, and a likely surprise for many, Joel Selwood. After a poor season in SC terms Ducky finally appears to be pulling it together, with some impressive scores over the last few rounds and Geelong mounting a big push for finals action. And yes I am aware that I used the Duckwood pun last season, but it's a good one and as is increasingly the case this year I'm fairly pressed for time.
DEFENSE
ROOKIES
Matthew Scharenberg (COL) DEF 123.9k 40 +20k
Scharenberg is finally on the bubble at Collingwood, after a series of injuries delayed the promising defender's debut. An average of 40 from his first 2 games will give him an expected price rise of around 20 grand after his next match, but really any prospective coaches will just be looking for him to stay on the field over the remaining rounds.
MID-PRICERS
Bachar Houli (RIC) DEF 438.8k 96 14.3%
Houli, like a lot of defenders this season, has been fairly inconsistent of late. A score of 103 against the Crows has pushed his average back to 96 for the season and he will likely be around 14 grand more expensive next week. The Tigers have one of the better draws through SC finals this year, and Houli should be able to keep his scores around the 100 mark if Richmond can continue to perform.
Tom McDonald (MEL) DEF 410.1k 95 22.7%
McDonald has also been very up and down this year, starting the season on fire before dropping off significantly and now jumping between good and poor scores. A price of 410 grand is good value for a...

JC had the Battlers up and about early, with Bachar Houli kicking to the flanks instead of up the guts, giving Enright and Tom McD a much needed chop out in the back line. The Chooks forward line responded well with a combined score of 386 across the line, but it was in the guts where the game was won. In a rather strange move, ChiefBet opted to leave Zac Smith on the pine in recognition of Seaby, and went with the shortest man in his team, Matthew Stokes, to take on Big Boy McEvoy in the ruck. The Stokes move ended up being a masterstoke (see what I did there), with Danger, Cunnington and Selwood ripping the clearances to shreds. Foul Bay will be worried coming into finals without a ruck however, and only time will tell if they will pay the price. Birdsville, harbouring hopes of a Top 4 finish, will lick their wounds and come back for a must win game against Darraweit Guim this week.

As the NBA schedule is being released tomorrow morning (our time), I thought it would be a good idea to create a blog asking people to renew their interest in playing this season. Please read over the break

Last year we had 4 leagues, so depending on the level of interest, we would possibly create another league. If not, we will place your name on a waiting list and and see if there are any people who drop out from last year (the waiting list will be in the order of who indicates their interest first)
We use the ESPN fantasy basketball site and we use a scoring system that has been designed by the players within TS NBA community.

Wellity, wellity, well. Another ORFFL regular season is almost over and just the one position in the final 8 is yet to be decided going into the last round. That of 8th. Milikapati hold the position for the moment, but amazingly only 4 total points separates them from 9th placed Warburton. Glenrowan has more points than both of the above, however they sit a game behind on 7 wins and facing the Dangerfield led Smiths Beach this weekend. With Beams out they may have given up the ghost already.
It is mathematically possible that either Bundalong or Popanyinning could make the finals, yet given they'd Milikapati and Warburton to lose while making up 500-1200 points in a single round. So not technically impossible just highly unlikely. #believe
A note to Bundalong though; it is possible to play players Out Of Position - say a MID in a DEF slot, in case you were unawares. They get half their score is all.
And a note on the finals, let's make it 1-3 choose their opponents by Monday night.
