Birdsville 1242 d Gariwerd 1128
Best: Birdsville - T McDonald 122, Rischitelli 120. Gariwerd - Fisher 121, B Smith 117 and a sore head.
The Skinny: The Battlers battle past last week's top scoring team thanks to a pretty even effort across the board, despite an injury to Daniel Wells. For Gariwerd, a number of midfielders with down weeks and a non-playing ruckman might be cause for concern, despite a strong defensive effort.
Foul Bay 1516 d Wagga Wagga 1424
Best: Foul Bay - Ziebell 150, 9 others 100+. Wagga - Shiel 149, Pittard 130.
The Skinny: Wow. Foul Bay go bang and get some vintage performances out of a number of players. One score below 70, only two below 80. Despite the loss, Wagga's 1400+ still something tosmile about, especially with a couple of down games from Thompson and Clark. Plenty to work with.
Marble Bar 1205 d Lovely Banks 1165
Best: Marble Bar - Dunstan 116, Ward 106. Lovely Banks - Caddy 132, Rosa 99.
The Skinny: The Misfits survive an Adam Tomlinson injury early and a Josh Caddy onslaught late on to record their first win. Young talent everywhere here, with Dunstan, Shenton, Devon Smith and a few others racking it up for Marble Bar, while Caddy, Saad, Rampe, Lang and others are starting to find their way for the Lilacs.
Nunawading 1136 d Cradle Mountain 1105
Best: Nunawading - JPK 130, Easton Wood 128. Cradle Mountain - Pendles 126, Heppell 107
The Skinny: Kudos to the Nuffas, who bounced back from last week's shocking injury blows to win narrowly over the Devils. Nic Nat enjoying life in Nunawading, Cam Ellis-Yolmen looks a real find. The Devils gained three centuries through the midfield but none elsewhere. Zorko and Petrie unable to do enough late to snatch the win.
Darraweit Guim 1324 d Waikikamoocow 1318

Welcome once again to the Best Buys.
As usual there is no Best Buy for the week, being the second round of the year, but I'm sure plenty of coaches out there will be active on the trade front. As I'm going to be very busy tomorrow the Best Buys is early this time around, so hopefully that gives you all some extra time to consider your correction trades a bit more. This week due to the ridiculous number of players with huge averages we've only included rookies averaging over 50 (except Sinclair, but he's pretty close), and others averaging over 110. That said it's still a massive edition clocking in at around 3,000 words, so make sure you grab a cuppa or a beer and settle in for a big read.
DEFENSE
ROOKIES
Kamdyn McIntosh (RIC) DEF 123.9k 94 +91k
After a huge opening round score McIntosh had a somewhat quieter second outing, but is still sitting on an average of 94. This makes him the best defensive rookie option, and with a price rise of over 90 grand on the way he should be an excellent earner for his coaches.
Adam Saad (GCS) D/M 102.4k 89 +90k
Saad has certainly been consistent in his opening 2 games at AFL level, scoring 89 and 90 points respectively and is now facing a price rise of 90 thousand dollars. With D/M positioning and lots of likely game-time he looks set to be one of the better rookies this season.
Adam Oxley (COL) DEF 123.9k 73 +64k
Oxley was fairly quiet in his first game, but bounced back in a big way in his second racking up 33 disposals on his way to a score of 116. Now sporting an average of 73 he looks set for a price rise of around 64 grand after his next game, and will be a likely trade target for a fair few SCers.
MID-PRICERS
Alex Rance (RIC) DEF 476.2k 134 3.7%
Rance belted out a huge 156 on the weekend in a losing side, bringing his average over the first 2 games to 134. Numbers like that are hard to argue with, and if he can keep his momentum going...

Straight to the point (or the points!) this week:
we scored 2,175 points,
we placed at 20,499 for the round,
we have a total score of 4,251,
and an overall rank of 12,430.
The team breakdown looked like this:

As you can see there's a few misses there. Oxely's 134 points on the bench really hurts - but that's probably the same for many a coach. Taking the risk on Beams was a real let-down, which I probably have to take most of the credit (??? Blame ???) for. Had have we picked JPK or Pendles we would have been around 50 points infront. Thats a total of 130-odd points that hindsight says would have given us a score of approximately 2300. A score like that would have had us near the top 2,000 for the week (seriously better than the 20,000 we actually were).
Clearly there's some holes in our team. Blakely stands out as a big hole (or maybe its his coach, who is a hole&rdquo
- which will require a correction trade this week. We also have a few rookies who seem to be under-performing, and on the fringe in their AFL teams, which is never what you want. Then there's that premo Beams, who is doing anything but... (atleast he's not Ablett!)
Come and join us in the Donor Forum to discuss trades for the week, and to stop me from leaving the C” on Beams again!

STATS ARE UP! LET THE SERVER HAMMERING COMMENCE!
Your captain knocks up a 142, your other team doesn't crumble in the second half and salutes by two points and you don't need to ask yourself 'What to do with Ablett' due to not owning him.
Sometime this footy caper can give up some good weeks.
(Unless of course, you had Ablett as captain and support the Hawks, then you get my sympathies
)
As the final game rolls to a close, let us know how you've gone! Bench Goodes for Oxley? Get on in time to ditch Cripps? Enjoyed a blinder from Martin after last weeks debacle? Let us know!

Wagga Wagga 1231 d Birdsville 1180
Best: Treloar 157 (Birdsville), Shiel 136 (Wagga).
The Skinny: Wagga start with a win despite only three 100+ scores. Birdsville see Treloar and Ebert go big, but too many others go small.
Gariwerd 1467 d Lovely Banks 1075
Best: Walker 177 (Gariwerd), Rampe 98 (Lovely Banks)
The Skinny: Taylor Walker puts the frighteners into every ORFFA coach. Gariwerd on top. Lovely Banks seeing the future - Heeney, Saad, Rampe, Langdon, et al - and it looks bright.
Foul Bay 1352 d Nunawading 998
Best: Dangerman 123 (Foul Bay), JPK 127 (Nunawading)
The Skinny: Foul Bay enjoy a consistent effort to take out their first win. Nunawading cursed by early injuries to Myers and Thomas, however Nic Nat's debut put a smile on the face of coach Melbandy.
Waikikamoocow 1237 d Marble Bar 1200
Best: McGovern 145 (Waikik), Rich 126 (Marble Bar)
The Skinny: Tight tussle, with debutant McGovern making a big difference for the Waikiks. The Misfits rack up 1200 and look to be on the up and up with their young lineup.
Venus Bay 1346 d Cradle Mountain 1265
Best: Docherty 145 (Venus Bay) Stevie J 131 (Cradle Mountain)
The Skinny: The offseason recruiting looks to have put the Vultures in a good spot. Depth and talent. Cradle Mountain unlucky to lose despite scoring 1250+. Plenty to like.
Darraweit Guim 1226 d Gundagai 986
Best: Betts 154 (Darraweit), Adams 98 (Gundagai)
The Skinny: Betts and the Richmond connection do enough to see Darraweit home. Rockliff's injury to hurt Gundagai, but good signs from reserves Honeychurch and McCarthy.
Mt Beauty 1193 d Larrikin Lagoon 1143
Best: Sidebottom 136 (Mt Beauty) Lewis 154 (Larrikin Lagoon)
The Skinny: Mt Beauty scrape home despite down games from a few stars. Midfield depth to be tested with Sidebum out. The Lagoon may rue Monfries' vesting. Gibson has a solid debut at new club.

Iron Knob 1289 d Powlett Plains 1232
Best: Gray...
No, this is not where an ORFFL coach posts their team selection - although you can post it here if you so wish. No this is a post about one of the five O's of ORFFL; Orchestrating Proper Team Selection.
Now for many coaches team selection is just a case of finding the only fit players you have available on a line, chucking them on the field and hoping that they somehow manage to have the game of their life (looking at you Marco Paperone). For others it can be a question of how can I not play Kurt Tippett when Scott Thompson is sure to be a late inclusion?
Yet for others still, this time of week can lead to an either/or selection dilemma usually over who to play at D or F4. You have a number of players who could fill that role, and yet none of them fill you with supreme confidence in their ability to put points on the park (or confidence that they'll score more than your other options).
HORNSY'S MOST WATCHABLE GAME OF THE ROUND BESIDES YOUR OWN

Let's look at this week's GOTR as an example. Anyone who's been paying attention to the machinations and spreadsheets of the last few years know that walesy's MBD have a shit-hot FWD line, and perhaps even a hotter poo midfield. Plenty of points, plenty of players. So who makes the team week to week?
Even with Rockliff and Sidebottom out for an extended period Mount Buggery have a plethora of options to choose from. Roughhead is obviously an automatic selection, Elliott is fast becoming likewise, while Bonts is a player everyone would like to have on their list in perpetuity. So at nominally F4 walesy had opted for the returning Mitch Clark playing at Geelong's fortress Kat Park.
I'm taking an educated guess that Clark get the nod over Cloke and Cameron due to both his preseason form and Geelong's well-earned and...

The casulties are rolling in already. Deledio, Rockliff, Sidebottom, Bartle and maybe even Bellchambers (McKernan was upgraded for a reason...)
It's getting ugly early this year! Lets hope this week is a better one.

Welcome back to everyone for the new SC season, hopefully so far it's treating you all better than it is me.
Due to the Monday game and issues with the stats many will have noticed the Best Buys are a bit late this week, and to go with that they're a bit rushed and therefore have a bit less in depth analysis and a bit more opinion. There is no single Best Buy, as this early in the year trades are definitely best saved, however for those really keen for a correction or holding Rocky the Best Buys are still here to offer some options for you. This year there has also been a slight change to the format, with percentage of teams a player is now in listed as opposed to the straight number.
DEFENSE
ROOKIES
[span style='background: #ffffff;]KamdynMcintosh (RIC) DEF 123.9k 120 40.7%
McIntosh was the saviour for many teams' abysmal defensive scores last week, knocking up 120 in his debut game for the coaches who played him on field. Already in 40.7% of sides he's one of the more popular rookies and for good reason.
Adam Saad (GCS) D/M 102.4k 89 62.4%
Saad showed why he's in over 60% of teams in his first regular game in the AFL, scoring a very nice 89 in a shock loss to the Dees. Costing just over 100 grand and set to play plenty of games, if you don't have him already get on at first opportunity.
MID-PRICERS
Sam Docherty (CAR) DEF 412.9k 147 0.6%
Docherty couldn't be left out this week, after scoring a 147 in the season opener. Personally I don't think he'll be able to keep his average over 100 this year but with a start like that anything's possible.
Jeremy McGovern (WCE) D/F 443.2k 145 1.8%
McGovern continued on from his outstanding 2014 by racking up a 145 point score against the bulldogs. With the Eagles injury woes he could well be their main KPD for a while this year but that certainly didn't stop him on the weekend.
Tom McDonald (MEL) DEF 381.1k 125 0.9%...
