For those who take it way too seriously

-------------------------------

The Swans and Hawks will both start strong favourites and the underdogs will have to defy history to make the last Saturday in September, with the Hawks in 2001 getting within a kick of the Bombers after a massive last quarter onslaught the only 5th-8th team to put up a decent prelim final performance..

Boomer and Cyril will get a bunch of headlines as will soem of the stars of the weekend including Kayne Turner and Robbie Gray.

Show who you think will make the Granny per thethumbs poll below, I will try to put teams up later in the week (but if I can't hopefully someone else can)

Feel free to talk up your teams or discuss trade rumours, Mad Monday stuff, 2015 chances of the Cats etc etc below
Lost and lonely team needs new, loving home
The Manangatang franchise has become available for a new coach/coaches to own
Apply below for this once in a... while... opportunity!

*includes Jobe Watson (HGH pre-purchased)

On a more serious note, we are looking for a member of the TS community to take over the helm of the Manangatang Orangutans. We have had a missing coach for a few months which has made this position available. This is not because of us, we are a great group of peeps to talk to and I have certainly had a great first season.

Please note, these leagues do require some time, even off-season, so we are looking for already active TS members. If you would like to be considered please post below (we haven't decided whether it will be first in best dressed or not)

Thanks!

All invites have been sent out for everyone to join the leagues.
Can everyone please join their league and can everyone also please ensure their rosters are empty.

We have a couple of people keen to play that could not get into Division 3, so we may set up a 5th league if there is more interest over the coming weeks.

This is how the leagues have finished up:

On the back of the 3 hours lost writing this report, only for it all to be lost with the server issues on Friday - this year's article will be shorter than usual! More pictures and numbers, and less commentary - lets talk about it in the comments section.
[span style='background: #fcfcfc;]To briefly explain how to read the graphs below:<br style='background: #fcfcfc;[/img]
<br style='background: #fcfcfc;[/img]
[span style='background: #fcfcfc;]Raw = tally of 3-2-1 votes I have given to each player throughout the year, based on an updated formula that includes a combination of stats and expert opinion.<br style='background: #fcfcfc;[/img]
<br style='background: #fcfcfc;[/img]
[span style='background: #fcfcfc;]Adjusted is the average of 100 random generated counts, that applies a random weighting to each players performance in each game...i.e. helps understand the strength of the votes given, and also the possibility of picking up additional votes that I hadn't originally given.<br style='background: #fcfcfc;[/img]
<br style='background: #fcfcfc;[/img]
[span style='background: #fcfcfc;]% chance of winning is how many times they end up in front across these 100 counts.<br style='background: #fcfcfc;[/img]
<br style='background: #fcfcfc;[/img]
[span style='background: #fcfcfc;]spread is the % chance of what tally they will land on, again based on these 100 counts.<br style='background: #fcfcfc;[/img]
<br style='background: #fcfcfc;[/img]
[span style='background: #fcfcfc;]Odds are TopSport as of Friday afternoon, who are currently accepting Brownlow team multis....
Ok, it appears that in winding the servers back for summer I've achieved 2 things.
1. I've killed images.
2. I've killed performance.
#1, I'm not sure about- #2, is going to need to wait until tonight to sort out! Hope you guys can deal with the awful performance until then. :)
Hawks vs Cats - no surprisemy tip is the Hawks

<p style='margin-bottom: 1em; background: #ffffff; color: #000000;]Hawthorn
<p style='margin-bottom: 1em; background: #ffffff; color: #000000;]In: Hodge, Stratton, Hill
<p style='margin-bottom: 1em; background: #ffffff; color: #000000;]Out:Schoenmakers, Litherland, Hartun

<p style='margin-bottom: 1em; background: #ffffff; color: #000000;]Geelong
<p style='margin-bottom: 1em; background: #ffffff; color: #000000;]In: Johnson, McIntosh, Motlop
<p style='margin-bottom: 1em; background: #ffffff; color: #000000;]Out: Brown, Smedts, McCarth

Swans vs Freo - probably the hardest one to tip for me, the Dockers have won first up finals as udnerdog in 2012 and 2013 and I am keen to tip them but am not sure how much impact Macpharlin and Michael Johnson missing will make

<p style='margin-bottom: 1em; background: #ffffff; color: #000000;]Sydney
<p style='margin-bottom: 1em; background: #ffffff; color: #000000;]In: McGlynn, Franklin, Kennedy, Bird, Pyke
<p style='margin-bottom: 1em; background: #ffffff; color: #000000;]Out: Mitchell, Biggs, Towers, Naismith, Jones
<p style='margin-bottom: 1em; background: #ffffff; color: #000000;]Fremantle
<p style='margin-bottom: 1em; background: #ffffff; color: #000000;]In:Griffin, Silvagni, Fyfe
<p style='margin-bottom: 1em; background: #ffffff; color: #000000;]Out: Johnson, Suban, Crozier

NM vs Ess - North for me (sorry Chief), but who can back them with any confidence this season ?? Whichever team wins can lock in a 2nd home final againstthe loser of the Hawks and Cats so should be mightly pleased with the ladder order doing them a massive favour.

<p style='margin-bottom: 1em; background: #ffffff; color: #000000;]North Melbourne
<p style='margin-bottom: 1em; background: #ffffff; color: #000000;]In: Firrito, Thomas, Greenwood, Goldstein, McDonald

[span style='background: #ffffff;]Done and dusted, all that remains are the ultimate team selection & trades. The SC-winner may have smoked everyone else by more than 1,000 points, but the Hindsight SuperCoach team thrashes him/her by another 8,000 points!

I'll leave the analysis to the experts.

So a 15% higher score than the winner, but from memory it was around 20% last year. That means the season was either more predictable or the skill level has gone up a notch. Maybe I can even learn something from the above and get back into it next season.

In the mean time, TTH asked an interesting question during the season and that was how much salary cap was required to match the ladder leader / winner's score [edit by TTH, after Round 15 the magic number was $5,768,500]. I'll get that done next (have your guess before I get to it) and will post the teams & trades in a separate post.

It's been great, thanks for all the comments, encouragements and insights!!!
The Grand Final

The Codpieces reign supreme in the ORFFA, with Iron Knob tasting premiership success for the first time, overcoming a gallant Wagga Wagga side to win 1400-1292.
In a game that swung back and forth across the weekend, the Codpieces saved their best until the final stages, kicking away to a late lead from which they were never headed.
The star of the late game surge was none other than the sometimes-maligned Ryan Griffin, who has tested coach Jim's patience at various stages throughout the season.
However Griffin repaid the faith in this one, his massive score of 189 sealing the deal and ensuring his team would not be denied.
Overall, the game was very tight throughout, with a series of great scores mixed in with a number of down games.
For Iron Knob, the impressive defence led the way - Harbow, Hanley and Burgoyne all topping 100. Shuey and Griffin scored centuries in the midfield, while Puopolo's 101 off the bench made up for a series of disappointing scores from Codpieces' forwards.
Wagga Wagga might well rue the withdrawal of Lance Franklin, whose hot form helped propel the Wombats into the grand final. Late replacement Jarman Impey was unable to fill the void, despite battling hard.
Wagga's defence also led the way - Malceski, Swallow and Murphy all notching up 100+ scores. They were joined by young midfielders Bastinac and Shiel, while in the ruck the future is now with young Scott Lycett rounding off a great 2014 with a ton.
Jay Schulz also hit the century mark, but it wasn't enough to overcome a couple of other disappointing scores in the forward line.
Congratulations to Iron Knob on the victory, and to Wagga Wagga on a superb finals run. Both sides have plenty to look forward to in 2015.
