As SC finals are just around the corner trades are increasingly valuable, especially for those with none left unfortunately, and the right decisions now are what can make the difference between ultimate glory and another off-season of mockeryfrom your mates. With so much fluctuating form between players in recent weeks many coaches have struggled to maintain their momentum, and fair few will likely be tempted to try and make a couple of luxury trades to solidy their positions in the top 4 or 8 of their respective leagues. As always the Best Buys are here to attempt to guide you through these difficult decisions, but as with every other aspect of SC the numbers can only tell you so much. At this time of the year success is often based more on luck and intuition than anything else, so more than ever coaches should always go with who they feel happy with rather than simply the players suggested the most by others.

The Best Buy for the week this week is Ben McGlynn, who has found some excellent form lately and seems to be avoiding much of the attention his companions such as Luke Parker are now receiving. Some big scores in his recent games have pushed him to prominence here, and with a very small number of selections to his name offers some great POD value. The coaches with the ability, and time, to play the loophole game this season are sure to be rewarded well, and McGlynn appears to be a good contender for this with only one Sunday game remaining on his schedule.

Also apologies for the formatting this week if there are any issues, time constraints have forced me to use and older version of Explorer and I really have no idea how it'll turn out.

DEFENSE

ROOKIES

Luke Thompson (ADE) DEF 162.5k 54 +25k

Luke Thompson remains in the Best Buys rookies this week, with not a huge amount of options and a reasonable price after bursting his bubble last week. Costing just over 160 grand and averaging 54 for his first few games at the top...
It was always going to be an uphill battle for Gary to hold on to his lead with 7 games remaining. Even now with a month left of the premiership season to play, Joel Selwood has moved to within 1 vote of his ex-team mate, now on 22 votes. He's not alone up their however, Nat Fyfe's excellent form has him level with Selwood's count. Only two other players remain within striking distance of taking out footy's most coveted individual award - Josh Kennedy remains stuck on 18 votes (has missed out on votes now in the last 2 rounds), whilst Dayne Beams has come from nowhere to now be level in equal 3rd for those that are eligible. Franklin and Boak are next in line but are now 8 votes behind current leader Ablett, and 7 behind the chasing pack....

A few more rounds to go and then I can do a number of 'special' analysis to identify the required salary cap, the value of trades and hopefully the TS community help some of the learnings form this season. Feel free to suggest any analysis you'd like to see.I'll also have to automate this process a whole lot more. In the mean time, here we go again.

Get in there, scored a 2491this week! Might actually be heading into the finals with some form for a change! :D

Even have 3 trades in hand (which, perhaps a little low, should be alright for these all important finals).

How are you tracking? Make the finals? Trades in hand?

Also- seems to be reports on comments not working in these parts (NBA thread, I'm looking at you!) - Just working on that now.
TheBlues ALMOST dida massive favour for the top 4 contenders, but Fyfe (sorry, Freo) were just a little bit too good, and Pav owners who didn't loophole him will be out shopping for a new TV or laptop at lunchtime today.

There are some tasty games this week from a fantasy perspectiveand obviously this is the round where top 4 and top 8 are down to the wire so no doubt there will be some of us hitting refresh repeatedly come Sunday's games as our season's (and cash league $$$'s) are on the line.

And let's not forget that it's semi/prelim final weekend in the TS Masters Series, TS Shield and TS Plate.

Each year you hear people talking about the number of Elites, Premiums and Keepers they have, that their team is now 'finished' or 'complete' - even though they have 4 trades left and a midpriced Spud stinking it up at D6/F6.

Obviously the strongest team possible is the one that will score the most points from now onward, and as we lack a crystal ball (except for when we get to review Agent Orgnage's Hindsight Supercoach) the most easily claculated and measure of a teams strength would betheir combinedYear to Date Average (whereby thehighest possible score excluding Ableet, Watson and Sam Fisher would be 2568), and a more dynamic one might bebased on say the last 5/6 games average instead.

I'll kick off by showing my team which ranks just outsidethe top 500 and hopefully will bring me home strong as a spot in the top 400 would be my pb by far !!

My Team as at round 18 is

Def - Swallow (105.2), McVeigh (103.5), Bartel (102.4), Hanley (101.1), Simpson (97.9), Suckling (81.3) [Cutler (46.4), Bews (38.3)]

Mid - Rockliff (128.4), Pendlebury (125.9), Fyfe (120.5), Kennedy (118.9), Selwood (118.1), Beams (117), Liberatore (112.2), Sloane (110.8) [Acres (51.3), Honeychurch (45.3)]

Fwd - Parker (104.4), Harvey (111.2), Martin (101.6), Dangerfield (108.2), Zorko (96.2), Wingard (78.7) [McGovern (74.1), Kersten (51)]

Ruck - Sandilands (110.1), Minson (97.9) [Derickx (56.2), Currie (50.7)]

The averages of the 'Best 22' sum up to 2352, so with Rocky as my Captain I wouldscore 2480 per week if everyone hits their average, if you have 5 minutes spare let us know how your teams stacks up against the magical 2500 figure !!
