For those who take it way too seriously
The split round in SC, while causing a lot of headaches for many coaches, also provided some massive scores for a lot of players and teams and has opened up the race for finals in a fair few leagues as well. With Brisbane playing the Ablett-less Suns and pumping out some huge scores, along with a decent chunk of other fan-favourite players racking them up, the teams with a few trades remaining are starting to face some real selection dilemmas for the weeks ahead. This has brought out some really good opportunities for luxury trades and loopholes over the SC finals, and the teams who can afford to play the loophole game will certainly be much better off for it.
This brings us to the Best Buy of the week, the forgotten Saints defender Sam Fisher. Averaging 100+ in his only two games for the year Fisher is on the bubble this week, priced cheaply and offers an excellent coverage option for those with Hibberd sitting in the backline. If the Saints can stay competitive Fisher could be a real bargain grab, as the previous fantasy gun certainly knows how to rack up the SC points. A decent run home should also help the St Kilda defender, but he has shown before that even in the tough ones he's more than capable of going large.

While the majority of AFL Fantasy fans have their full focus on matters going on in the senior league, there is plenty going on for in the lower leagues to interest those looking to pick up a bargain whilst placing bets in Australia.
There have been a number of impressive performances lower down the leagues this year, with some young stars strengthening their respective cases to make the step up into the big leagues.
Sydney Swans youngster Tom Mitchell was undoubtedly the star of the NEAFL Round 8 against Eastlake, racking up an incredible 243 fantasy points. The 21-year old set a disposal world record that could well stand for 100 years, claiming 64 disposals made up from 28 kicks and 36 handballs, scoring four goals in his side's 131-point victory over Eastlake. With 24 of his disposals contested ones, with 14 makers, 14 inside-50's, 12 clearances and 22 score involvements in one of State League football's most incredible individual performances. Mitchell went at 78% efficiency with a disposal breakdown for each quarter was 18, 18, 18 and 10.
Mitchell may have taken most, if not all, of the the headlines following his display, Max Gawn's 187 fantasy points in Round 14 of the VFL didn't go unnoticed. The giant Casey Scorpions star put on an exemplary ruck showing against a Bendigo team never in with a chance of contesting them, collecting a Champion Data record of 80 hit-outs while making an impact around the ground with 26 disposals, five tackles and a well-taken goal. While Gawn left with 187 fantasy points to his name, that total could have been even bigger if he had been more clinical in front of goal.
In Round 11 of the NEAFL, UWS Giants' Josh Kelly was the star of the show against the NT Thunder, walking away with 187 points in a ruthless performance. The highly-rated midfielder hadn't enjoyed the sort of game time he would have wanted in the AFL but his performance in the...

Iron Knob 1602 d Foul Bay 1362
The top of the table clash turned into a one-sided affair, with the Codpieces defeating the reigning premiers and notching the highest score in ORFFA history. Even more frightening - that score of 1602 was done without Gary Ablett. The warning to the rest of the league is clear - Iron Knob are the team to beat in 2014.
Best: Iron Knob - 10 Centuries, led by Hanley (191), Macrae (136), Griffin (123) and Jones (120).
Best: Foul Bay - 7 Centuries, led by Selwood (147), Dangerfield (117), Judd (115) and Harwood (113).
Cradle Mountain 1312 d Charlie's Opening 1132
The Amazing Zorko waves his magic wand and bamboozles the Spelunkers as the boys from the Apple Isle march towards finals action. Oh, and Stevie J was pretty handy as well.
Best: Cradle Mountain - 5 Centuries, led by Zorko (159), Johnson (141) and Heppell (129).
Best: Charlie's Opening -2 Centuries, Swallow (104) and Jack (101).
Gariwerd 1195 d Larrikin Lagoon 942
The evolution of Brodie Smith continues at Gariwerd, the running backman scorching the Lefties for 144 as the Cockies' song is sung loudly. For the Lefties, Matt Priddis just keeps on keeping on.
Best: Gariwerd - 4 Centuries, led by Smith (144), Gray (134), Hurn (107) and Deledio (106).
Best: Larrikin Lagoon - 2 Centuries (and one player short) Priddis (149) and Lewis (116).
Whitsunday 1237 d Mt Beauty 994
Things got a bit ugly for the Uglies, despite a virtuoso Nick Riewoldt game. The Warriors battle to another win behind a great team effort, Jason Johannisen's re-emergence and Ollie Wines' 133.
Best: Whitsunday - 6 Centuries, led by Wines (133), Lobbe 109, Johannisen (107).
Best: Mt Beauty - 2 Centuries - Riewoldt (179) and Sidebottom (109).
Waikikamoocow 1218 d Powlett Plains 1010
The Incorrigibles roll to another win as Harry Taylor's renaissance continues. Meanwhile, for a team whose four lowest-scoring players combined...
Rarely do you get two 180DT's in the same season, this week however, we had two in the SAME GAME.
I can't even remember last weeks games anymore due to the sheer fantasy-brilliance of Pearce Hanley (45 touches) and Rocky Mc Rockliff (47 touches).
Seriously, I've been patting myself on the back all week cause across the comps, I scored either Selwood or SJ as my vice. These boys put them both to shame! SHAME I tells ya!
Anyways, stats will be up later this evening, until then, let us know how you went!
(Oh, and for those who care, you on track for a finals campaign this year?)

There are only 4 games this week but many teams will have over half their side still to play so a lot of top 4 and top 8 possies will be in the balance.
Good luck all !
Good luck all !
One thing that I've been thinking about recently, something that has in particular, been highlighted by this past weekends results, is training load.
Port Adelaide and Hawthorn, having sewn up their finals campaign, have spent the past 4 weeks engaging in a particularly heavy training load in order to prepare for the finals.
The results there have been pretty outstanding.
We'll start with the results:
HAW:
12 point win over Adelaide
20 point loss to North
50 point win over GC
PTA:
3 point win over Melbourne
20 point loss to Richmond
2 point loss to Essendon
20 point loss to Adelaide
So we are defintely seeing a decrease in onfield performance here. First thing that strikes me with this kind of thing, is line betting. Reckon there is a massive potential here if you are tracking the training loads on the various fan forums that discuss this level of detail.
Second thing, of course, is fantasy applications.
Prior to these clubs engaging in their inflated training workload, both clubs were averaging 79SC points. Since engaging however, Hawthorns average has dropped to 75SC while Port Adelaides have dropped to 73SC.
That's a massive 8% drop in performance at Port.
These drops are club wide, meaning the premium players are dropping just as hard as anyone on the list.
Really, this seems like the kind of thing we should be keeping track of for next year- if players from finals-bound teams are dropping in performance as te season goes on- perhaps it could be worth upgrading into teams that aren't finals bound?
Also, if you want to play along at home, I'd love to hear about the training regiment at other clubs as we're heading into the business end.

Normally I try to put a positive spin on things, be optimistic, and look at the lighter side of SuperCoach, but I have to say this week really sucks for fantasy footy. With only 8 teams playing on the weekend there really are very little good options around, and most reading this will likely already have a decent few of them in their teams. This has led to a greatly shortened Best Buys, with only a few choices making the grade and in some positions just the one solitary player. Luckily the waiting list is reasonably healthy, so if you can afford to spend a bit more cash than is strictly necessary there are still some good options here for most SC sides.
The Best Buy of the week is one that many of you have been waiting for some time now for, Sam Mitchell. After an injury relatively early on in the year sidelined him for a decent chunk of games he's now back in action, and as his 100+ in his last game showed he appears to back to full fitness and ready for SC finals. As cheap as you'll likely find him, D/M positioned and generally a great pick in all forms of fantasy footy, I can't really see why anyone would go past him at this stage.

Daniel McStay (BRI) DEF 140.5k 41 +27k
McStay did his job in round 17, getting on the field and keeping his average from the first 3 games at 41. As the only rookie option in the Best Buys this week McStay is still priced affordably at 140 grand, and will be facing a price rise of about 27 grand after his next game. Risky, but there are very limited options this weekend.

SMitch will likely be the most popular player brought in this week, not just because he's the Best Buy either, and is already sitting in around 29,000 teams. A bargain basement price of just over 410 grand certainly helps, along with his D/M status, but with a price rise of only 9 grand on the cards for his next game he could be waited on for...

Rolling lockout is in effect for those who aren't Supercoach, so play your VC's where you got em!
And just a quick warning, I'll be starting the season wind-down of the servers over the weekend, so if there is a little downtime, that'll be why.
Shouldn't have any effects anywhere though- but as always, if you see something funky, let me know!

<p style='margin-bottom: 0pt; background: #fcfcfc;][span style='color: #444444;]In our first Ablett-less week since the bye rounds, some familiar (and possibly unexpected!) faces stepped up to lead the way last weekend.
