TooSerious

For those who take it way too seriously

40 touches to Paddy. Anyone put the VC on him? It's gunna be a big one!

Anyways, round 17 is underway- pretty carnagey round, but hopefully you've been able to hold on on those trades with finals just around the corner.

Well, not holding off on the Ablett trade- cause that one's a given. :D
Hmmm, I sense that I'll need a few images of donuts before this round is done.

Shaping up to be a brutal season this one!

Lets see what tonights teams bring us 'ey, before we start expecting the worst.

Goodbye Gary. As much as it hurts to say, with Ablett's shoulder injury on the weekend he really has to be traded. This will put some serious pressure on many SC teams, around 3/4 of them actually, and especially those like mine that are running critically low on trades. On top of that, a fair chunk of the players who are averaging well so far are either out this week as well or facing reasonable price-drops, making this week all the more difficult for fantasy footy. So who do we bring in for the Little Master? I'd start with Nathan Fyfe.

Fyfe is an out-and-out gun, averaging 120+ for the season and so far even keeping his shoulders attached, making him an ideal candidate to try and fill the Gazza void. The Dockers are enjoying a good run, are pushing for a top 4 finals berth, and will be bolstered by the return of Pav this week as they take on the Giants, followed by the Saints and Blues. Their run gets tougher over the final four weeks of the year playing Geelong, Hawthorn, Brisbane and then Port, but Fyfe has the ability to go 120 in each of those matches regardless.

DEFENSE
ROOKIES

Daniel McStay (BRI) DEF 117.3k 37 +18k

The Lions may have taken things a little too literally in their efforts to replace the young players who went home last season, recruiting Daniel McStay in the hope that he might stick around for a while in Brisbane. Luckily for SC coaches that's a good thing, with the young defender now on the bubble. Averaging 37 with a price tag of 117 grand means McStay is facing an 18 grand price rise after his next game, and with any luck he can keep getting on the field to provide some cash and cover for his prospective coaches.

MID-PRICERS

Andrew Mackie (GEE) DEF 459.4k 92

Mackie is a risky pick, as with many this week, averaging 92 for the season and priced at around 460 grand. The Cats are looking to finals and Mackie will continue to be a key to their structure, but does have the...
<p style='margin-bottom: 0pt; background: #fcfcfc;][span style='color: #444444;]In a weekend of football where Ablett went down with injury, a group of unheralded players topped the leaderboard. Luke Parker top scored with 151 whilst Gunston with 144, Jaegar O'Meara with 143, Rory Sloane with 143 and Rockliff with141 were next best. The rest of the top ten were Greenwood (140), Everitt (138), David Swallow (135), Pendlebury (134) and Lachie Hansen (134). Given Ablett's absence this round, I have tried to expand the selections. Venus Bay 1270 d Lovely Banks 1240 In what was probably the match of the round, a Luke Parker special has helped the Vultures overcome Lovely Banks and remain well in the finals fight. Parker’s 151 continues his fine season and topped off a late game fightback generated by two unlikely sources in defence – Andrejs Everitt (138) and Sam Docherty (110). Mundy, Beams and Gaff were all solid in the midfield, while Blair’s 84 proved handy up forward. The Lilacs enjoyed a far more consistent effort than in recent weeks, but even a last-gasp stunner from Mitch Duncan (124) was not enough for them to make up the late-game deficit. Lovely Banks’ forward line was on fire, with Bird (111), Edwards (114), Ballantyne and Chapman continuing to excel. However injuries to Thompson (71) and Rosa (84) which saw them subbed off in their respective games may have proven the difference between a win and a loss. Birdsville 1173 d Gundagai 1067 Birdsville have moved into the top eight at Lovely Banks expense after a hard-fought win over the Grasshoppers. Late game heroics from Mark Murphy (124) and Lewis Jetta (99) were enough to confirm the Battlers’ victory. An even scoring effort also featured a top-notch 106 from Tom McDonald and 90+ scores from Clarke, Treloar and Rischitelli. Gundagai were again led by Tom Rockliff. His 141 propels him further up the Les W leaderboard – with the medal now up for grabs with Gary Ablett’s injury. Lachie Neale put in another great game with 124, while Suckling’s 88 and Witts’ 97 were the best of the rest. And while he only scored 13 points, it was great to see Anthony Morabito finally return to the field – hopefully he repays the faith that the Grasshoppers have shown in him this year. Charlie’s Opening 1169 d Larrikin Lagoon 1111 Charlie’s Opening has strengthened its hold on a top six spot after escaping with a close win over Larrikin Lagoon. Well down on their previous good form, the Spelunkers were forced to dig...

We are around a month from SC finals and trades are becoming scarce. By now you've hopefully completed your team or have one upgrade left. It's time to focus on your bench cover and to make sure you have scorers sitting there in case a player of yours gets injured. This is why from now, the Podfather will be looking at cheaper POD options.
Of course, the run home is important when selecting players from here on in. We want selections that will play every game and score fairly well. Whether it's pure coverage, or you're looking to loophole bench players, it is always smart to analyse statistics at this stage of the season.
Ruck options won't be covered this week but, if you think one should be mentioned, drop them in the comments section below.

Jack Steven (StK) - Mid - $438,200 - 88.00 - 0.60%
After a breakout season in 2013, Steven had an injury interrupted pre-season which has really had an effect on his 2014. He has shown glimpses of brilliance, running down the wing at full pace and hitting targets as he does when he is at his best. His total impact on scores is down on last season, only having one goal assist next to his name (15 in each of the past two seasons). Steven and Montagna are the players St Kilda's opposition look to shut down, which makes it tough for him. With his disposal efficiency sitting at 69.3% for the season, Steven hasn't been too disappointing in that regard. There's an opportunity over the next two months for him to get more of the ball, which should increase his output. Is very cheap for what he can produce.

Leigh Montagna (StK) - Mid - $447,500 - 100.75 - 2.09%
Montagna averaged 123.5 over the first 6 weeks of the season, with consistently brilliant showings. Since then, he has averaged 78.17, picking up his first century in this period on Saturday. St Kilda have been absolutely dominated recently, and it's hard for even the stars like Joey to be scoring well every week. Montagna's tackle...
swinging around to yet another lockout.

Hoping that your team is sitting in the groove right now and that you have some decent coverage for that Hibberd out that's eventuated.
<p style='margin-bottom: 0pt; background: #fcfcfc;][span style='color: #444444;]There were some familiar faces at the top of the leaderboard last week, led by some points of differences. Sidebottom led the way with 178 and he was followed by Cotchin with 168 and Jacobs with 163. Hanley found some form with 160 whilst Fyfe with 158 and Ablett with 157 were next best.
