We are around a month from SC finals and trades are becoming scarce. By now you've hopefully completed your team or have one upgrade left. It's time to focus on your bench cover and to make sure you have scorers sitting there in case a player of yours gets injured. This is why from now, the Podfather will be looking at cheaper POD options.
Of course, the run home is important when selecting players from here on in. We want selections that will play every game and score fairly well. Whether it's pure coverage, or you're looking to loophole bench players, it is always smart to analyse statistics at this stage of the season.
Ruck options won't be covered this week but, if you think one should be mentioned, drop them in the comments section below.

Jack Steven (StK) - Mid - $438,200 - 88.00 - 0.60%
After a breakout season in 2013, Steven had an injury interrupted pre-season which has really had an effect on his 2014. He has shown glimpses of brilliance, running down the wing at full pace and hitting targets as he does when he is at his best. His total impact on scores is down on last season, only having one goal assist next to his name (15 in each of the past two seasons). Steven and Montagna are the players St Kilda's opposition look to shut down, which makes it tough for him. With his disposal efficiency sitting at 69.3% for the season, Steven hasn't been too disappointing in that regard. There's an opportunity over the next two months for him to get more of the ball, which should increase his output. Is very cheap for what he can produce.

Leigh Montagna (StK) - Mid - $447,500 - 100.75 - 2.09%
Montagna averaged 123.5 over the first 6 weeks of the season, with consistently brilliant showings. Since then, he has averaged 78.17, picking up his first century in this period on Saturday. St Kilda have been absolutely dominated recently, and it's hard for even the stars like Joey to be scoring well every week. Montagna's tackle...
swinging around to yet another lockout.

Hoping that your team is sitting in the groove right now and that you have some decent coverage for that Hibberd out that's eventuated.
<p style='margin-bottom: 0pt; background: #fcfcfc;][span style='color: #444444;]There were some familiar faces at the top of the leaderboard last week, led by some points of differences. Sidebottom led the way with 178 and he was followed by Cotchin with 168 and Jacobs with 163. Hanley found some form with 160 whilst Fyfe with 158 and Ablett with 157 were next best. Let's look at the numbers for Round 16 &amp;hellip;

Back after a hiatus of almost a month which involved everything from being too busy at work, bad colds, malfunctioning computers and (ongoing) World Cup 'commitments' to looking for and buying a house. With most of that out of the way (hopefully), it is time to get back to the HindSight SuperCoach analysis.
The season has finally reached the point where the total number of trading spots (2-3 per round) exceeds to allowed total number of trades for the season (30). The final and very important piece of the SuperCoach strategy puzzle. Not surprisingly, the first trading spot to be left unused is in round 2 - we'll have to see how this evolves over the next weeks until the end of the season as the number of unused trading spots increases.
Round 15 season to date
Initial team selection
<p style='text-align: center;]

Notable:
<ul>
<li>Malceski is in - first appearance in any line-up and staying in as well - consistency with big scores in rounds 11 and 15 are paying off.</li>
<li>Pendlebury, having made a number of appearances before, is also in and staying in - enough big scores to warrant the premium gun price tag. Ablett of course being the other premium gun who is in from the start and staying.</li>
</ul>
Trades
<p style='text-align: center;]/Portals/0/Users/230/78/2278/R15_table_trades.png

Notable:
12 out of 48 players (25%) involved in trades have been traded in and out (as opposed to just out or just in). Maybe a little peace of mind for those who have had to come back on a trade that paid off in the short run but not in the longer run? Guess catching purple patches is a skill (or just plain luck).

This week the Best Buys comes to you from Northern Queensland, where even while on holiday we still endeavor to bring you the best value options in SuperCoach for the rest of the season ahead. This week see's, hopefully, some rookie options finally reaching the bubble to give us some downgrade options as we try to finish upgrading our sides and start to look to finals.

Buddy has made it as the Best Buy for the round, after finding some excellent form of late and leading the Swans to some solid wins. At first glance he doesn't seem great value, and comes with some decent risk, but his form lately has put him in good stead to finish off the year with a healthy average for the remaining games and maybe even lead the forwards on the run home. The Swans will be firing on all cylinders to try and lock away a top 4 spot, and the Big Bud will likely be leading the charge.

As mentioned in the intro I am technically on holiday, so you'll have to forgive me if I've missed some things or made any mistakes along the way.

DEFENSE
ROOKIES

Zak Jones (SYD) DEF 147.3k 57 +36k

Jones, the younger, has performed pretty well in his first 2 games at the highest level, averaging 57 over the 2 and now facing a price rise of around 35 grand after his next game. Costing a touch under 150 grand Jones looks solid value as long as he can keep getting games, and is the first proper rookie option in defense in a decent while now.

PREMIUMS

Nick Malceski (SYD) DEF 557.6k 105

Malceski has continued on with his recent great form, now averaging 105 for the season and looking a real chance to finish the year ahead of McVeigh on averages. Sitting in around 17,000 sides so far and costing just under 560 grand means he has a bit of POD value, but is a bit expensive going by season's average alone.

Pearce Hanley (BRI) D/M 510.6k 96

A dominant midfield performance was enough to get MBD across the line in a key battle against the Wizards. Sidebottom saved the best until last on Sunday night smashing out a 178. Plenty of support provided by Ward 110, Rocky 126 and Wines 106. For Woy Woy, an even team performance was highlighted by Jamar with 131, K Cornes 104 and Hodge 114.
It doesn't get any easier next week for Woy Woy up against the Savages. Now a game out of the eight this is shaping as a season defining game. MBD travel to Poowong to take on the Potoroos in a second v third battle that is likely to shape the ladder at the all important pointy end.

A couple of notable wins for teams lower on the ladder which have broken long losing streaks were among the highlights of Round 12 action in the ORFFA.

Powlett Plains 1054 d Marble Bar 1053
Andrew Carrazzo and Luke Ball have clinched a memorable win for a 13-man Packers' outfit, doing just enough to see them scrape home by the thinnest of margins over Marble Bar.
The win breaks a long losing streak for the Packers, and is notable given the team was down two players due to injuries and other absences.
Youngster James Aish was the star, top-scoring for the Packers with 120 points and continuing to underline his potential. Aish was the only Packer to break 100, however 10 others scored 70 or more - led by Blicavs (94), Miles (92) and Ball (86).
Starting the last game 150 points behind, Ball and Carrazzo (65) did just enough to get the Packers home.
For Marble Bar, Ryder (114), Smith (111) and (as always) Ward (110) put in great efforts. But a few too many low scores, as well as a late game injury to defender Dean Terlich (22) proved costly.

Gundagai 1194 d Nunawading 1164
Nuffers coach Andy's pre-match concerns were justified, with his Nunawading team unable to stave off the Grasshoppers on the weekend.
The win - Gundagai's first for the year - came on the back of a very consistent team effort led by young ruckman Jarrod Witts (135).
Witts and the erstwhile Rockliff (126) set the tone for the Hoppers, who also got 120 points from young Lewis Taylor and useful contributions from Curnow, Stringer, Neale and Dwyer.
For Nunawading, Josh Kennedy ran rampant through the midfield for 130 points, while Charlie Dixon (114) and Jaeger O'Meara (112) contributed well in trying conditions. Matthew Broadbent scored 101.
However a late game shocker from Dale Thomas (40) provided Gundagai with the breathing space it needed for the win.

Charlie's Opening 1437 d Lovely Banks 1290
In a high-scoring, free flowing game, Charlie's Opening...
Some big scores this week from around the grounds, not from me however, not with Hooker and JJK and Macrae and Libba doing work!
Still, Pearce Hanley put a prety big smile on my face.
How has your weekend treated you?
