Feeling a bit chirpy today and thought I would give my view on the likely composition of the top 8. All views (contrary or agreeing) are welcome. Please don't be too offended if I have written your team off - reply. Right now there are only 10 sides with a mathmatical chance of making the eight. Lets have a look at the upcoming, penultimate round and try to sort out the final sequence. NB, I have only looked at games in which the current top 10 are involved. vultures v battlers - can only see one outcome. Vultures move to 60 points. 'hoopers v cows - sorry SnOZ, i think the Cows pick up the points - Cows move to 60 points, 'hoppers remain on 44. chooks v misfits - gws have a soft game at home against freo and that should be enough for the misfits to emerge victorious. Misfits move to 52 points, chooks remain on 36. inflatables v codpieces - jimbos mob pick up another 4 points to move to 44. With a superior points for they move past the 'hoppers packers v devils - again can only see one result. Devils move to 40 points. warriors v cockys - ant on a roll and unless TiB's port boys have a huge day the visitors win. Cockys move to 36 points, warriors remain on 32 points. Probably the single most important match up of the last two weeks, the winner makes the eight, the loser doesn't. nuffers v uglies - one result only, uglies move to 32 points. Ladder reflecting points for after round 19 / ORFFA round 16: Vultures - 60 Cows - 60 Misfits - 52 Cods - 44 Hoppers - 44 Devils - 40 Chooks - 36 Cockies - 36 Uglies - 32 Warriors - 32 Then onto the final round. vultures v cows - Fitzy's mob round out a great H&A season. Vultures to 64, cows remain on 60 points. lilcas v misfits - Len's mob have a dress rehearsal for the finals and move to 56 points. hoppers v wombats - sNoZ's depth will be tested against the inconsistant wombats but Rocky comes right. Hoppers move to 48 points. However, their points for is "putrid". chooks v codpieces - the cods have been on a tear but will find the chooks a little too strong. Chooks move to 40, cods remain on 44 points. However, a win to the cods could see them into the top four and a possible rematch with the chooks in the first round of the finals. Keep an eye on this vital game. nuffers v devils - can only see one result and the devils move to 44 points, and they move above the cods based on points for. packers v cockies - again I think this is clear cut and the cockies move to 40 points. bye v uglies - jellys guy's season does not end with a bang and the uglies move to 36 points which despite a late season charge is not good enough. warriors v blimps - the home team gets up in a close game and moves to 36 points. However, TiB's side also miss the eight. Final ladder reflecting points for after round 20 / ORFFA round 17: Vultures - 64 Cows - 60 Misfits - 56 Hoppers - 48 Devils - 44 Cods - 44 Chooks - 40 Cockies - 40 Uglies - 36 Warriors - 36 To answer the question in the thread title - yes the eight teams are set but the order will likely change. Just one coach's opinion.
Great write up @graeme, and I agree with your assessment I think even if the chooks lose that last one it won't be enough for the uglies or islanders to get into the 8. I feel for @Fitzy....choice of opponent in this will not be easy. A lot may depend if @dmandrews has the Rolls Royce Pendlebury back
Great stuff @graeme I agree with bandit, your assessment appears pretty on target, though we all know how fickle the fantasy footy gods are.. And yeah, I'm not keen on having to pick an opponent, never liked the idea whilst understanding it's existence, fortunately I'll only have 1 or 2 to choose from at best.
I think I will lose both of the last two (making that 5 losses from the last six I think), but will hang on to finals by virtue of my points for. Should then be an easy kill for whoever. But, pick 11 will be my best selection in a draft since Pick 4 in the inaugural
Also good to see the Spelunkers are the only team not to have a say in the 8 in the final two rounds... I might field a team of
You and I play in the last round - maybe we should both just pick with the 3 or 4 players we're we're actually happy with and drop the rest?
Huuuge game between Cockies and Warriors this week! I'm not feeling too confident at all. Wingard out hurts me, he's been in top form. With so much riding on the game, im second-guessing my selection decisions more than ever. I'm considering playing some kids over guys like Guthrie, Young and Rischitelli. The likes of Mathieson, Charlie Curnow, Hugh Greenwood et al are all very tempting to play.
He's been in and out of my team a few times last night. Then today I heard RiskyTV has an injury concern, so I'll definitely be playing Greenwood over him now
In the end, Mathieson and Greenwood bombed out, but Charlie C did well again. I only played Greenwood and at least he did better than Risky TV.
From above, Ladder reflecting points for after round 19 / ORFFA round 16: Vultures - 60 - check Cows - 60 - check Misfits - 52 - check Cods - 44 - wrong should be 40 and sixth place behind the devils Hoppers - 44 - check Devils - 40 - check Chooks - 36 - check Cockies - 36 - check Uglies - 32 - check Warriors - 32 - check Revised predicted ladder after the final H&A round, Still reckon the chooks will get up over the Cods, with the latter dropping from possibly fifth with a win to eighth with a loss. Vultures - 64 Cows - 60 Misfits - 56 Hoppers - 48 Devils - 44 Chooks - 40 Cockies - 40 Cods - 40 Uglies - 36 Warriors - 36 N.B. It gets quite interesting if the improving wisdom of wombats beat the badly winged 'hoppers as this would mean Dean's Devils rather than snOZ's 'hoppers faces the team the top three do not want to play. Perhaps fifth is a better finishing spot than fourth?
No Danger. Some might say No Chooks. Others might say that we have been strategically resting blokes over the last seven weeks just to get set for a Bulldogs like finals tilt. And Bandit, well, he'll probably say that we have been giving blokes the week off in order to shoot them all full of cobalt. Pretty sure it's all or none of the above.
