https://www.afl.com.au/video/2019-0...ns-conference-system-debate-season-highlights Details about 2020 expansion rules with new club limits for recruiting from current clubs.
Unfortunately I can see 6 * in-conference games per team plus 1 cross conference game = 7 home and away games still being the case in 2020. Justification would be cost of 52 games or more if they go with a top 6 or top 8, relative to 29 games in season 1 and 2 and 38 games this season. I reckon 18 teams in 3 conferences with 11 home and away matches per season - roughly 100 games - is the AFL's 5-10 year aim. Growing a set and scheduling a full round robin for 14 teams and eventually 18 seems like a long shot any time soon at this stage.
Logistics may not work but a season starting in October and running to mid March with a potential extended mid season break if need be leaves plenty of options if overlapping with the mens season is the issue.
They make plenty, it's either worth investing in or not, feels like they are currently trying to be half pregnant
I for one would like to see the season extended. So what if they cross over with the tennis / AFL / cricket / badminton?? Followers of AFLW will continue to follow their teams and the sport. If money is an issue (which I believe is a poor excuse for a multi billion dollar industry that continues to support and promote women in football and the community) then why not align AFLW matches with the mens competition? Once all 18 sides are playing why not have the AFLW/AFL as double headers? The Big Bash did that really successfully (the one I attended in Perth saw 20,000 people stay for the womens match!) There are solutions for a longer season, the AFL needs to want to find them

Congrats to the Crows for taking out the AFLW premisership and to the Blues for making it to the Grand final. Erin Phillips blitzed the awards, Maddie P took out the Rising Star and the AFLW All Australian side saw the following breakdown Krushers and Devils – 4 apiece Belles and Falcons – 3 each Nymphs and Mystix – 2 each Valkeries, Termites and Free Agents – 1 each, with SLT the only ORFFW Free Agent to make the team https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/20...t/news-story/bd97005a52ed43f7c0ce436ac87541bb 2019 AFLW All-Australian team: BACKS: Ash Brazill (Collingwood), Meg McDonald (Geelong Cats) HALF BACKS: Jess Duffin (Kangaroos), Chelsea Randall (VC, Adelaide Crows), Kerryn Harrington (Carlton) CENTRES: Emma Kearney (Kangaroos), Kiara Bowers (Fremantle), Karen Paxman (Melbourne) HALF FORWARDS: Erin Phillips (CAPTAIN, Adelaide Crows), Jasmine Garner (Kangaroos), Monique Conti (Western Bulldogs) FORWARDS: Gemma Houghton (Fremantle), Stevie Lee Thompson (Adelaide Crows) FOLLOWERS: Lauren Pearce (Melbourne), Ebony Marinoff (Adelaide Crows), Madison Prespakis (Carlton) INTERCHANGE: Emma King (Kangaroos), Gabbie Pound (Carlton), Ally Anderson (Brisbane Lions), Anne Hatchard (Adelaide Crows), Dana Hooker (Fremantle) GWS were the only AFLW club not to get a representative.
Happy with where the giants have landed given the circumstance, will be interesting to see if we intend to draft 8 or have a late pickup in the delisted FA pool

Mo would want a solid to excellent VFLW season to get another AFLW team to take a punt. Being on a list is one thing and making an impact is another. It is very hard to step up when she is an older player unless her attitude and workrate is top notch.
