Round 1 of the 2020 ORFFW season sees 6 mouthwatering clashes.

Batemans Bay Battlers vs Sandgate Sugar Gliders @Nic Neg @Tiny_doughnut
A 1203km road trip to the Southern NSW coast sees the Sandgate Sugar Gliders taking on the Bateman’s Bay Battlers in both sides inaugural ORFFW match. @Nic Neg and @Tiny Doughnut both have picked an experienced squad of players with the home side the oldest in the comp and the visitors the 3rd oldest. This match will be willing early, and will test whether the superb squad assembled by @Nic Neg has gelled in pre-season and can deliver now we are commencing the regular season.

Bathurst Belles vs Scone Sirens @Len @Tracey
Two young and GWS heavy squads will feature in the first of the all NSW affairs. Scone makes the short 278km trek down the highway to take on a side that lost all 5 matches in last season’s ORFFW draft league. Coaches @Len and @Tracey will be keen to win 2020 bragging rights in this installment of the household derby.

Glenbrook Galahs vs Bermagui Bronze @ver_redit_optatum @marconofrio
The second all NSW clash sees Bermagui making the 413km trek to Glenbrook to take on the hometown Galahs. The Galahs Eliie Blackburn is battling the clock to make it onto the park while Lily Mithen will be missing for the Bronze. The 2 teams drafted for experience and depth and the 26 players who take the field will be determined to ensure their team gets the W in Round 1.

Vivonne Bay Valkeries vs Lake St Clair Devils @That KI Guy @dmandrews
These 2 sides have been drawn together for a Round 1 matchup for the second year straight. Whereas in 2019 this changed due to a fixture revision the sides will most definitely be meeting for the first time this coming weekend. Lake St Clair are no strangers to a multi-day away trip over land and sea and will be settling into the luxury Vivonne Bay campgrounds on Kangaroo Island on Thursday night when coach @dmandrews will be giving them the pre-match rev up that will be needed to overcome a determined and highly promising Valkeries lineup.

Katanning Krushers vs Manildra Mystix @FreoDockers TTH
The other revised fixture from Round 1 2020 sees the 2019 premiers travelling 3500km plus to take on the mighty Krushers. The Mystix managed to retain Prespakis and Antonio from 2019 and will look to Elise O’Dea to help them guide and lead a young and relatively unproven second tier of players. The Krushers will be keen to show a new defensive flood game-style that has been developed by @Freo Dockers and it will need to be effective if they want to get in front on the 2020 W-L ledger.

Pomona Nymphs vs Morwell Eagles @anthak @HOLKY
The Keeper League Draft Pick 1 vs Pick 2 derby has the Brisbane Lions heavy Eagles side traveling North to take on the 2nd Queensland side from Pomona. Both sides will look to nullify the opposition stars Zielke and Marinoff and rebound the ball quickly from the back half to give their forwards clean supply and the opportunity to boot a winning score.

Please be sure to partake in the ORFFW Supplementary Draft if you need to replace fringe players who are not selected for Round 1, or any players who are ruled out for 2020 and moved to the ORFFW inactive players list.

Please also make sure that your 18 player squad is entered into TS Leagues nice and early and SAVED correctly.

Household cup will have a sidebet, yet to be determined, but as the probable winner I'll let the probable loser nominate :p

    A late change....
Jasmin Stewart has replaced Anna Teague as the ruck emergency.

Following the opening AFLW match of the season the Krushers @FreoDockers are leading 183/4 (Harrington 53, S Hosking 60, Bernardi 42, and Brennan 28) to the Mystix 90/1 (Prespakis).

The Krushers have a sole Saturday rep with Barr playing in the early game while the Mystix will need all 7 players taking the field in the first 2 of the Saturday AFLW tripleheader of matches to fire up to haul in the deficit and put a significant lead on the board before Katanning’s big guns get rolled out for Sunday action.

@Len The AFL Women's app has the AFL Fantasy score as well as detailed statistics for each player in the Richmond vs Carlton game last night. Less detailed stats are provided on the AFLW website.

With day 2 done and dusted the @TheTassieHawk Mystix hold a strong lead with 8 players done and a score of 455 on the board, lead by Prespakis 90 and Yorston 86.

The Krushers are sitting at 212 from 5 players with the bulk of their midfield ready to roll tomorrow. Its shaping up for a close round 1 finish!

A half time update from Pomona, where we're taking on the Morwell Eagles.

    Morwell: 448/8
    Pomona: 427/10

It will be a struggle for the Nymphs to catch up with only 3 players left compared to the 5 from the Eagles.

The match between the Valkeries and the Devils looks like it will go down to the wire. I have it:

    Valkeries 518/11 (47.1)

    Vs Devils 258/5 (51.6)

After the Pies vs Eagles with scores on the app showing Lamber 82 Hooker 80 Davey 27 and Dowrick 34 the Mystix lead the Krushers @FreoDockers 489/9 to 401/8.

Watt Berry and Huntington will be looking to overhaul the deficit and build a lead for the home side heading into the final match of the AFLW round.

Huntington with 47, Watt with 45 and Berry with 32 put Katanning in front again 525/11 to 489/9.

Kara Antonio and Hayley Miller are still to play for @ FreoDockers side and should post scores that will challenge the visiting quartet of Ebony Antonio, Millie Brown, Maddy McMahon and Danielle Higgins in the late stages of this contest.

The unofficial final score has the Krushers @FreoDockers deserved winners by 35 (660-625) over the Mystix.
