TS Fanatsy NBA: NEW Knockout Cup

    We are going to try something new this season.
    We will run a side competition for all 36 teams in our three leagues combined together into one knockout cup draw.

    This will be run over 5 (non-consecutive) rounds, commencing next matchup on Tuesday 27th December.
    Team coaches wont need to do anything differently. Just manage your teams as you normally would, and we will use the points totals from the leagues to determine the winners in the Cup.
    If there is a draw in the Cup, the tie-breaker will be minutes played, being the team with the least total minutes played during the matchup wins.

    For the first round, we will ensure that everyone is playing against someone from another league, and the Premier League teams will be seeded against the bottom teams from other divisions.

    After round 2, there will be an odd number of teams, so the lowest scoring winner in Round 2 will be eliminated with all of the losing teams.

    Round two matchups will be known by the initial draw, but we will do a new draw for round 3 (due to the lowest scoring winner dropping out), which will then take us through to the end of the Cup.

      Some of the Round 1 matchups I am looking forward to most:

      G5: @tasho PL vs @Lano24 D2
      I went through the list of the top players in our scoring system, and the highest ranked player who is playing against themselves in the Cup is the 12th ranked LeBron James, on both of these teams, drafted at 12th and 15th respectively.

      G6:             @nicksnow PL vs @dabombers D1
      Last season, dabombers missed out on promotion to Premier League by the narrowest of margins. They don't have anything to prove, being a former Champion in season 1 of Premier League in 2011; however now they will get an opportunity to matchup against a Premier League team in round 1 of the Cup.

      G10:       @Steve D1 vs @Jasmine D2
      Two former Premier League Champions now find themselves in Div1 and Div2 respectively, and both are having strong seasons, both currently in the top 5 in their leagues. This is the only Cup matchup between two teams who have both played all 13 seasons of our TS leagues.

      G17: @tyze1 PL vs @Bearfly D1
      Last season, it was out of these two who would be the third team relegated from Premier and it went right down to the very last game of the season to decide it. Ultimately, Bearfly went down, but now they might be able to get a little revenge.

      By the way, I should have mentioned, the fixture was determined by seeding alone.

      Top6 PL vs bottom 6 Div2.
      Bottom 6 PL vs bottom 6 Div1.
      Top6 Div1 vs top6 Div2.

      Always 1v6, 2v5, 3v4 etc between the two groups.

      and second round is set up so that the top PL teams will play teams from bottom 6 of PL or Div1, etc.

      I set up the seeding for all games, before looking at or inputting who was who, so none of the specific matchups were set up. It just worked out how it has.

      Unless any issues arise, I hope to stick to the same format in future years.

      I just realised I made a mistake with the timing of these rounds.
      We don’t have a “matchup 17”!
      We will hold the semi finals during Playoff Round 1 and the grand final during Playoff Round 3.

      I initially wanted to avoid playoff rounds 1&3, because of the round 1 byes and to stay away from our league grand finals. But we need a week in between each Cup matchup, for admin etc, so we have to do it this way this season. Next season we can be better prepared and start earlier.

      I will edit the OP to reflect these changes.
