Got through Round 1, and now after seeing some actual games, lineups can start to settle. Time to roll into Round 2. Eastern Park Dragons (0-1) vs Timboon Trailblazers (0-1) The Demons are hoping for a bounce in Round 2 and definitely have the firepower, fighting against another team searching for their first win of the season. But it won’t come easy against Timboon. This team has stars on every line and will be hoping it doesn’t take long for Ash Centra to find her feet at the top level. Glenbrook Galahs (1-0) vs Como Comets (0-1) The Galahs started the season with a bang — top score — and that’s with Goldsworthy on the bench (surely she gets a run this week). They’re up against the Comets, who are desperate to get on the board. With the current top two in the Rising Star — Zippy Fish (best name in the league and already looking like a jet) and Painter, who also looks the goods — they’ll be dangerous. Junee Jets (1-0) vs Manildra Mystix (0-1) The Jets narrowly escaped with the chocolates in Round 1 as Aishling McCarthy got them over the line late. Another challenge awaits in the Mystix, who were unlucky to lose ruck Kate Darby early in their opener. Scone Sirens (0-1) vs Bathurst Belles (0-1) Both these teams narrowly lost in Round 1 and are looking to even up the ledger in Round 2. Should be a good matchup as these two stacked midfields face off, Hatchard vs Gardiner (2 of my Faves). Pomona Wood Nymphs (1-0) vs Wongan Hills Wallabies (1-0) The Grand Final replay sees the Nymphs out to show they can go one better in 2025. Marinoff will, as always, lead the charge. But the Wallabies started the season where they left off, led by GF best-on Mim Strom. Lake St Clair Devils (1-0) vs Vivonne Bay Valkeries (1-0) The Devils went through it all in Round 1, with Jas Garner showing she can score wherever she plays, while Dana Hooker still looked a step off after her return. Up against strong competition, Vivonne Bay posted the second-highest score of Round 1 with a midfield looking primed for 2025. PS: The season could not have been timed better, after Friday night Flagmantle was cancelled. Pomona Wood Nymphs Round 2 We had a lot of players perform really well in our 2nds last week and we've decided to shake things up a bit this week and reward some of those strong performances with a call-up to the senior team. Two other reserves players Sachi Syme and Nicole Bresnehan were both very close to senior selection as well, but we have decided to give them at least another week in the twos to see if they can sustain their form. Grace Egan is also very lucky to hold her spot in the team, but we didn't want to overreact to one poor game and we will see how she goes this weekend. We are very sad to drop Jenna Bruton but she might need to settle into a regular emergency role on this team at this late stage of her career.
