A fairly large set of fresh rookies are already named in the 18 or 22 for this weekend.

    J Dawson (123.9k FM, page 335 of the 2017 prospectus), Balic (123.9k FM, p134), Logue (180.3k D, p141), Berry (139.8k DM, p56), McLuggage (202.8k FM, p62), Durdin (123.9k F, p256), Parsons (117.3k F, p168), and T Smith (102.4k F, p248).

    With B Long (117.3k DF, p319), L Dawson (195.1k DF, p58), H McKay (123.9k F, p81), Williamson (117.3k D, p86) and J Stewart (169.8k F, p126) on the 7 man interchange there is potential for one or 2 of those to join them

Jy Simpkin - edit and Ben Ainsworth - is out injured, while several rookies are also named on the 7 man bench including T Miles (F/M), Macreadie (D), Pickett (F/M), McGrath (D/M) and Barrett (M).

Which means Preuss, Pickett, Eddy, Pickett, Bowes and Florent amongst others definitely have another run this weekend.

Of the sub $200k rookies dropped after Round 1 Shoenmakers, Mountford and Hibberd failed to make the 25 for Round 3, while Foote returns for Sydney and Menzel is an emergency for the Crows.

Hayward, N Newman, Burton, D Swallow and Broomhead are amongst the rookies who back up for their 2nd consecutive games.

No D Cameron for the Swans (missing the 25) with Callum Sinclair picked to replace Tippett.

I am not sure whether N Roo actually plays on Sunday, fingers crossed for those who held him.

Could probably take any one of WHE, Oliver, Higgins or Marchbank. Depends which way you want to play it though

I understand your concern. 2 games is a very small sample size to tell that WHE will kill it. You could play it however you want and I definitely don't know what the best option will be. One tip I can give, since you mentioned him, is that Berry should be a very good cash cow in the near future, kid's a jet.

Hey all, have been disciplined and only used one trade so far... looking to now jump off joel smith - which of these three is more legit: mackie, spurr or salem? or should i bank some cash and go for mcgrath? please and thank you :)

I had Higgins in my team until the last minute TTH and reckon he is the one to pick out of them! Also Pritch i'm personally waiting to see what Newman does tonight and will probably bring him in for Smith next week if that helps you with any of those decisions?

Contemplating Sympkin to Houston? or am i trading into a guy thats going to disappear?

I reckon Simpkin will be a slow, season long burner. They want to get games into him. Houston not a must with some other rookies now coming through.

Ok. Decision made! I'm going to pass on WHE. I figure I'd rather kick myself all season for not bringing him in, than choosing to not to start with him and bring him in after R2 to then curse him each week as he flops (at around double the price of a true rookie).

So. That makes it M.Murphy & Houston in this week.

And in the next couple of weeks, I'll bring in either Newman or Berry for Smith.

Everything I've read about Berry is very positive. Could be a great get for $140K and DPP if lives up to expectations.

Fingers crossed Houston can keep his position in the team.

Unless you need someone on the park in your forward line, I'd hold off on that trade. Patience is your friend. It sounds like a possible waste of a trade unless you really have to do it for some reason. Houston's JS isn't rock solid.

I'm only going with Houston because I have to bring in a rookie-priced forward this week - I need to offload McCarthy anyway, and I also am angling to get the cash to upgrade to Murphy in the mids.

I know his disposal efficiency was apparently just over 50%, but I can't believe Grundy (my vc) managed only 105 after having 23 disposals, 7 tackles and 43 hit outs (not sure how many of these were effective, but felt like a fair few were when I was watching)

I think I'm at about to say goodbye to Smith and HELLO Newman, if he performs again next week. @ RPritch scoring is hard to fathom , eg Treloar and Grundy DE obviously has quite a bearing on their scoring.
