    Round 3 at a golf tournament is referred to as moving day due to the leader-board getting shaken up. With the way fixture has fallen Round 3 in the Premier League could quite well be moving weekend and there is a recurring theme as in three games the home side is lower on the ladder than the away side, however in all three of these games the home side has the same win-loss record and is only lower on the ladder than its upcoming opponent due to an inferior points for. Fuelled on by their fans can the home sides get the win and leapfrog their opponent on the ladder? In the only game where a team has a superior win-loss record to its opponent the Llamas at home aim to maintain their winning streak and defeat the Royals who are yet to win a game.

    @Chloe Korean Kickers 0-2, 1437 points, eighth on ladder vs Canberra Conservatives 0-2, 1580 points sixth on ladder @bkp130

    The Kickers and Conservatives are both searching for their first win of the season however have implemented different playing styles. Each midfield includes a midfielder in the top four of the league best and fairest award with Kickers M1 Kiara Bowers having been best afield in both games to lead this award on 10 votes whilst Conservatives counterpart Brittany Bonnici has polled nine votes to be equal second. The Conservatives haven’t lived up to their name and have played an attractive, attacking brand of football that has resulted in them being ranked in the top three of the league for points scored in both rounds however have been heavily scored against and may need to take a more conservative approach to get the desired result. The Kickers on the other hand have played a more defensive style and led by Bowers are very adept at grappling and bringing their opponent to ground however need to land more offensive blows.

    @hoschke118 Lima Llamas 2-0, 1499 points, third on ladder vs Lagos Royals, 0-2, 1438 points, seventh on ladder @Peter W

    The only Round 3 Premier League encounter where the opposing teams have different win-loss records with the Llamas attempting to continue their unbeaten run whilst the Royals try and get off the mark. Whilst the win-loss record is lopsided the Llamas only average 30.5 points per game more than the Royals so it still shapes to be a close contest. The Llamas have the best forward in the GWFFPL – Jasmine Garner who has polled seven votes in the league b & f to be fifth and negating her influence will be crucial to the visitors chances. The Royals have an abundance of young talent in the midfield including Georgia Patrikios who is equal sixth in the league b & f with six votes.

    @TheTassieHawk Stuttgart Storm, 1-0, 1544 points, fifth on ladder vs Kyoto Kruisers, 1-0 @FreoDockers, 1617 points, fourth on ladder

    Stuttgart Storm are at home for the second round in a row whilst after being at home last week the Kyoto Kruisers have had a 9,300 km trip to Stuttgart for a road game in Round 3. Two Kruisers midfielders are in the top eight of the league best and fairest with Briana Davey having polled nine votes to be equal second and Madison Prespakis in equal sixth position on six votes. Whilst the Storm don’t have a player on the first page of the leader-board their top two ranked mids in Kirsty Lamb (90.5 points) and Alyce Parker (89) have been damaging and are each averaging about 90 points per game. The midfield battle will be pivotal in determining which team will have a winning record at the conclusion of the Storm-Kruisers encounter.

    @dmandrews Vancouver Vixens, 2-0, 1516 points, second on ladder vs Las Vegas Legends, 2-0, @Pearcey47 1545 points, on top of the ladder

    The Vixens and Legends both enter their round 3 game undefeated however the Legends have been more convincing, having winning margins of 51 points over the Kickers in Round 1 and 108 points against the Royals in Round 2. The Vixens on the other hand didn’t know they had won either game until they heard the final siren and at this very early stage of the GWFFPL Vancouver have the two smallest winning margins, having defeated the Conservatives by a point in Round 1 and the Kickers by 11 points in Round 2. The Legends have two midfielders on the front page of the league best and fairest with Ellie Blackburn equal second on nine votes and Anne Hatchard equal sixth on six votes. Whilst the Vixens don’t have any players in the top eight of the league b & f the composure of experienced midfield duo Erin Phillips and Emma Kearney has been pivotal in them recording thrilling victories in the first two rounds, however the Vixens have also benefited from the oval shaped ball bouncing their way at crucial times.

    Please have teams submitted by the start of the round at 7.10pm tomorrow night and update as required until lockout for Round 3 GWFFPL (Round 4 AFLW) at 7.10 pm on Saturday.

    BTW does anyone have a good browser-friendly source of live fantasy points for AFLW? I've been using the app but my phone has died so I wont have an easy way of checking it this weekend

    I think the app is the main source of truth, it's pretty much all I use, I'm sure others may be better placed to advise though?

    Well we are at the half way mark and the Kruisers are sitting at 595 @ 59.5 from 10 players with Lutkins, C Moody and Button to go and the hosts the Storm are 439 @ 54.8 however only the 8 players at this stage with the big guns of Parker, Lamb, D & L Pearce and Newton still to play.
    It should be a tight finish in a low scoring tight encounter

    Thanks @Pearcey47.

    Very happy to be top of the ladder with three wins a row, however I don’t think the Vixens can claim to be the team to beat at this stage given that they are yet to surpass 800 points for a round and several other teams have reached that level.

    If someone had of told me that we would be 1-1 in our two game this weekend I and most other people would have expected the Devils to defeat the Legends in the ORFFA and the Legends to defeat the Vixens in the GWFFPL, instead the exact opposite occurred.

    Vixens midfielder Erin Phillips (114) was best afield with 21 disposals and four goals and fellow midfielder Jamiee Lambert (102) had 27 disposals to also reach triple figures.

    The Legends two best players were interchange duo Steph Chiocci (83) and Bella Lewis (79). This duo also featured in the squads for the ORFFA game between the Legends and Devils with @Pearcey47 making the astute decision to draft Lewis in both leagues whereas @dmandrews made the not so astute decision to drop Chiocci from the Devils team for the match against the Legends.

    @dmandrews It is funny that on this site it is extremely rare for any keeper league coach to accept favouritism !

    I usually look at points scored but on that measure the team to beat would be the very unlucky Canberra who are the only winless side to date.

    It certainly feels like the proverbial blanket could be thrown over the field right now and with some big matches to come in the next fortnight I reckon the picture will be a little clearer in a few weeks time.

    GWFFPL Round 3 Results

    Round 3 of the Premier League lived up to its tag of ‘moving round’ with all four games being won by the team that entered the round lower on the ladder, however three of the winners had the benefit of home ground advantage and were only lower on the ladder than their opponent due to having inferior points for. In the biggest upset of the round the Lagos Royals on the road recorded their first Premier League victory, defeating the previously unbeaten Lima Llamas by 104 points.

    @Chloe Korean Kickers 836 defeated Canberra Conservatives 811 @bkp130

    The Kickers and Conservatives didn’t feel the pressure of attempting to get their first Premier League victory and recorded the second highest aggregate score in the brief history of the GWFFPL, with both teams surpassing 800 points. The Kickers won the closest contest of the round by 25 points, 836 to 811. Kiara Bowers scored 120 points for the Kickers to register the highest Round 3 Premier League score and was well supported by fellow midfielder Karen Paxman (88) and three forwards who scored 75 plus in Gabby O’Sullivan (78) after starting on the bench, Katie Brennan (77) and Shelley Scott (76). Bowers has been best afield in all three games to lead the league best and fairest on 15 votes. Two Canberra Conservative midfielders Tyanna Smith (110) and Rebecca Beeson (103) scored tons however more sub 50-scores for CCE six to the Kickers four proved pivotal in the end. Amazingly after Round 3 Canberra have amassed a league best 2,391 points at an average of 797 points per game yet can’t take a trick and haven’t won a game and are last on the ladder.

    @hoschke118 Lima Llamas 681 lost to Lagos Royals 785 @Peter W

    The Lagos Royals used their travel time well for their away game and were able to execute a game-plan that reduced the effectiveness of Llamas Olivia Purcell and Gemma Houghton who each had sub-50 games well down on their usual output which contributed to a 104 win for the Royals. Midfielder Jamie Stanton (76) and midfielder/forward Jasmine Garner (72) were the Llama’s best two players. The Royals had an even contribution all over the field and achieved the feat of having an individual 80 plus score on each of the three four-player lines – midfielder Ebony Marinoff (98), defender Stacey Livingstone (81) and forward (as well as ruck) Eden Zanker (81).

    @TheTassieHawk Stuttgart Storm 727 defeated Kyoto Kruisers 676 @FreoDockers

    A more even contribution from the Stuttgart Storm with eight scores of at least 50 compared to the Kruisers five was pivotal in the Storm recording a 51 point win with both sides placing a premium on defense as they attempted to gain victory and with it a winning record. Stuttgart were well led by midfielder Alyce Parker (99), defender Tilly Lucas-Rodd (80) and forward Kaitlyn Ashmore (72). Kyoto midfielder Bri Davey continued her brilliant form (110) to register a ton and was one of three Kruisers mids to score at least 80 along with Amy McDonald (85) and Madison Prespakis (84). With a best afield performance Davey increased her tally to 14 votes to hold second place in the Premier League B & F, one vote behind Bowers.

    @dmandrews Vancouver Vixens 791 defeated Las Vegas Legends 686 @Pearcey47

    With the Lima Llamas suffering a loss earlier in the round the other two teams that entered Round 3 undefeated in the Vancouver Vixens and the Las Vegas Legends were playing for outright top spot in the final game of the round. The three best players on the ground were Vixens midfielders Erin Phillips (114), Jamie Lambert (102) and Hayley Miller (84) who setup Vancouver’s 105 point victory 791-686. The Las Vegas Legends two best players were midfielders who started on the bench and are at opposite ends of the experience spectrum in veteran Stephanie Chiocci (83) and first-year player Bella Lewis (79).
