The Grand Final of the inaugural Premier League season has arrived and after a fearseome battle amongst the top 3 we have a decider between the Vancouver Vixens (@dmandrews) and the Stuttgart Storm.

The Vixens have been in 1st or 2nd position every week of the season and despite a loss to the Storm in week 4 have gone form strength to strength and start the Grand Final as favourites by virtue of their imposing lineup as well as passionate home crowd advantage.

Meanwhile the Storm lost games to the Llamas @hoschke118 in week 2 and Kickers @Chloe in week 6 but scraped into the Grand Final by virtue of a narrow points scored edger over the Korea side. Having already won at BC Place Arena the Stuttgart side have the belief that they can carry out a smash and grab to upset the home side.

The 2 sides were named as follows

The strength of both sides saw some very tough selection decisions with Hodder and Koenan unlucky to miss for the Vixens and Watson and Lochland similarly gutted for Storm.

All-stars feature all across the park in this match and both coaches will have plans in place to curb the influence of the key play makers for the opposition while also hitting the scoreboard hard through skillful attacking footy going forward.

Best of luck @dmandrews this should be a cracker.

Prior to the final match of the weekend the Storm have moved to a triple digit lead 12/807 to the Vixens @dmandrews 11/658 and will be looking to Tilly Lucas-Rodd to repel the attacks of Belinda Smith and Kate Shierlaw for the home side in the late stages of a gripping grand final.

It was a tremendous team effort by the Storm to recover after losing Daisy Pearce to injury early in the game to defeat the Vixens 834-782 in the Grand Final. Vixens first round draft choice Jaimee Lambert was best afield in the GF with 110 points however was the only Vixen to score more than 80 whilst three Storm mids scored at least 99 – Kirsty Lamb (107), Alyce Parker (100) and Ashleigh Riddell (99).

The Vancouver Vixens had a winning record against six Premier League teams but had no answer for the Stuttgart Storm in two games, Round 5 when the Storm set a then-record for most points in a Premier League game and the Grand Final. This continues a pattern of @TheTassieHawk dominating the head to head record against me in ORFFW/Premier League, pretty sure TTH is now a combined 6-1 against me across these two leagues now including being 4-0 in 2021 and 3-0 in finals.

Stuttgart Storm were very consistent throughout the 2021 Premier League season to finish second at the end of the home and away season, lead the league for points scored and win the Grand Final despite being a player short for most of the game. Congratulations on the Stuttgart Storm winning the inaugural Premier League premiership @TheTassieHawk.

Commiserations to the Vixens and @dmandrews as always we enjoyed a fine contest and appreciate the above write up.

The Storm become the competitions first premiers on the back of a fortuitous run with Daisy Pearce our only injury for the season while others including the Vixens, Royals and Llamas copped a hammering.

As a competition we can now look forward to a 2022 season which will start AFLW Round 1 and have a top 4 sudden death knockout finals in the last 2 weeks, which will keep every team in the hunt right throughout.

As well as seeing you all back next year we hope that you will bring friends and family along to join in the fun and continue the growth of our AFLW fantasy community in the coming years.

With fantasy now done, enjoy the AFLW finals.
