Round 8 of the 2022 Premier League has arrived and the following 4 matches will complete the home and away season, with 2 confirmed finalists in Stuttgart and Lima and another 4 sides striving to join them.

Canberra Conservatives @CamCamMan88 (3-4, 5324 points scored) vs Stuttgart Storm TTH (5-2)
    — previous meetings Rd 7 2021 (Storm by 133) and Rd 5 2022 (Conservatives by 3)

    Lagos Royals @Peter W (3-4, 5159 points scored)
    vs Korean Kickers @Chloe (2-5)
    — previous meetings Rd 7 2021 (Kickers by 106) and Rd 3 2022 (Kickers by 138)

Kyoto Kruisers @FreoDockers (4-3, 5030 points scored) vs Las Vegas Legends @Pearcey47 (4-3, 4920 points scored)
    — previous meetings Rd 7 2021 (Kruisers by 115) and Rd 2 2022 (Kruisers by 58)

    Vancouver Vixens @dmandrews (2-5) vs Lima Llamas @hoschke118 (5-2)
    — previous meetings Rd 7 2021 (Vixens by 240) and Rd 5 2022 (Llamas by 89)

Canberra will be attempting to knock off the ladder leaders while Lagos will be looking to hand the 2022 wooden spoon to the Kickers.

Should either of those sides taste victory it is highly likely that the match between Koyoto and Las Vegas – currently 3rd and 4th - transforms into a sudden death elimination final a week early.

Lima versus Vancouver sees both teams determined to finish the home and away season on a positive note, but has no bearing on the makeup of this year’s top 4.

With matches on Saturday and Sunday please note the final round lockout at 710pm Melbourne time on Saturday so bear in mind a relatively short window following the announcement of Sunday AFLW teams approx. 90 minutes prior.

As always best of luck to all teams and we look forward to some Saturday night and Sunday afternoon score checks, as the competing teams start to look nervously at the season points scored tiebreaker !!

    Vancouver Vixens Round 8 team

Def: Kerryn Harrington, Angelique Stannett, Nicola Barr (Maddy Collier)
Mid: Emma Kearney, Jaimee Lambert, Hayley Miller, Sarah Rowe (Stephanie Cain)
    Ruc: Lauren Bella (Alison Downie)
Fwd: Kate Hore, Georgia Gee, Eden Zanker (Sarah D’Arcy)
Int: Teah Charlton, Courtney Hodder (Olivia Vesely)

The Vancouver Vixens have done an excellent impersonation of a Skydiver during the 2022 Premier League. The Vixens won their first two games to reach great heights early and be on top of the GWFFPL ladder after two rounds, from Round 3 to Round 7 Vancouver lost five consecutive games to quickly plummet back down to earth and are seventh on the ladder with one game to play. The Vixens rank fourth for total points scored but have conceded the most points and are trying to avoid the unwanted feat of going from top of the ladder a quarter of the way through the home and away season to bottom of the ladder at the end of the season.

A score check early in the second half has the visiting Stuttgart side ahead by 129, at 8/485 to the Canberra @CamCamMan88 side at 6/356.

Canberra will have Claudia Whitfort running out against TLR in the army Sunday game before the trio of Schleicher, Bonnici and Toogood even up the numbers against Kirsty Lamb in the second game of the day giving spectators a flogs chance of seeing where this one sits with a quarter to play.

The Conservatives finish off with a trio of Lions (C Svarc, Bodey, Dawes) against the Storm’s O’Dwyer, then will wait nervously while Parker and Egan complete proceedings in the Sunday evening match to conclude the home and away season.

Kruisers v Legends is evenly poised after Saturdays games with the Kruisers 4/240 against the Legends 5/283

A super Sunday ahead should be a whole lot of fun in what could be a close finish!!

After the Pies vs Dogs game the Storm now leads by 117, 10/655 to 10/538.

The Conservatives @CamCamMan88 finals hopes now rest with C Svarc. Bodey and Dawes all going large while restricting the scoring of O’Dwyer, Parker and Egan for the Storm.

A score check from Lagos has seen some late drama with the Royals @Peter W reaching 701 all out and the visiting Kickers @Chloe at 10/605 and needing 97 points from Gab Pound, Bree Moody and Katie Loynes in the late game to record a famous road victory.

It’s looks like the Legends have (unofficially) defeated the Kruisers 737-735! Now we wait for adjustments…

In pleasing news for both sides in the above match, but extremely harsh news for Canberra @CamCamMan88 fans the Storm appear to have taken the “W” with a dramatic late burst to scrape in by 24, 803-779.

It looks like the Kickers have pulled out a triple figure victory based on unofficial scores which would see both Kyoto and Las Vegas qualify for finals.

According to my preliminary results, the Llamas (Bates 108, Garner 92) have scored 860, defeating Vancouver (Lambert 114) with their score of 769.

I believe the final ladder now looks roughly like this:

    1. Stuttgart 6-2 (~110%)
    2. Lima 6-2 (~107%)
3-4 Las Vegas and Kyoto 5-3 and 4-4 (too close to call?)
5-7. Canberra, Lagos and Korea 3-5 (depending on percentage)
    8. Vancouver 2-6

Congrats to the reigning premiers for winning the minor premiership! And last year's minor premiers have taken the wooden spoon after being at the top of the table and looking scary after round 2. Shows how competitive and punishing this league can be.

A dramatic last round saw Canberra and Lagos both unable to get a win and give themselves a chance at finals. Canberra couldn't overcome 1st place Stuttgart and Korea played spoiler against Lagos. This will mean both Las Vegas and Kyoto will make finals regardless of who wins that very close game.

This went longer than I expected sorry. Some fun, exciting results! Some of it may be wrong, hopefully not much.
