Entering the second half of the home and away season, Round 5 starts this Thursday. The game will fly by as we will be halfway through the round by Friday night.

Also for those hoping to make some changes to their list. The midseason draft is coming up after this round on Thursday the 5th of October.

    Katanning Krushers (3-1) @FreoDockers vs Timboon Trailblazers (0-4) @Peter W

Coming off their first loss of the season, the Krushers will be looking to bounce back against the winless Trailblazers. Although, Timboon is undoubtedly due to join the winner's list soon as they have battled well in every game so far with a percentage better than the three teams above them.

    Glenbrook Galahs (0-4) @ver_redit_optatum vs Scone Sirens (1-3) @Tracey
Like the Trailblazers, the Galahs are hunting for their first win of the season after some narrow losses. Up against the Sirens, who were very unlucky to lose a close one last week against top spot. Just need to improve their defense, having allowed the most points this year.

Vivonne Bay Valkeries (3-1) @That KI Guy vs Eastern Park Demons (1-3) @YAD69
The Valkeries are trying to break into the top 4 but it won't come easy against the Eastern Park Demons who may have just turned their season around with their first win last week and hoping to make that two on the trot.

Lake St Clair Devils (4-0) @dmandrews vs Junee Jets (1-3) @Chloe
Lake St Clair is shaping up to be the team to beat on top of the ladder. If the vising Jets can pull off a win here it could be one of the upsets of the season.

Wongan Hills Wallabies (1-3) @Schmitty vs Bathurst Belles (2-2) @Len

Bathurst just one win and points out of the top 4 a win here will keep them right in the hunt, up against the second-worst defense, the Wallabies. Who will be desperate to turn their honorable losses into honorable wins.

Manildra Mystix (4-0) @TheTassieHawk vs Pomona Wood Nymphs (4-0) @anthak
Finally, we have the game of the round. Manildra and Pomona, both undefeated looking to sure up their spot at the top end of the ladder. This is a real coin flip and will go down to the wire.

------ Round lockout is the WB vs St Kilda Friday night match -------

    Good luck everyone

Early in the 3rd quarter Manildra 10/806 leads Pomona 4/203 @anthak

The visitors hold a 7:1 numerical advantage in the next 2 games of the round before Drennan and Randall for the Mystix take on Marinoff and Ponter for the Wood Nymphs in the final Sunday game.

The Valkeries @That KI Guy finish on 847/13 65.1 to the Demons on 801/13 61.6

The Demons couldn't reel it in enough, with Hickie being dominant in the big tap.

    Great game mate.
Newman and Dawes went huge but offset by McKinnon and Saad sub par.
Demons steering in the right direction though :thumbsu:

    Unofficial score

    Lake St Clair Devils 966
    Defeated
    Junee Jets 823

The Junee Jets won the ton count 2-1 with midfielders Ally Anderson and Ash Riddell scoring 119 and 113 respectively. Two other Jets scored 85+, ruck Breann Moody (98) and defender Ella Heads (88). The Jets were unable to match Lake St Clair’s depth and lost the 45+ count 7 to 12.

Although Monique Conti (121) was the only Devil in triple figures she was well supported by her fellow starting mids all scoring in the 90’s - Claudia Whitfort (99), Jasmine Garner (92), and Emma Swanson (92) which resulted in the LSC starting mids amassing 404 points between them at an impressive average of 101 points each.

With the victory the Devils extend their winning streak to five games and retain top spot on the ladder, points for ahead of Manildra Mystix.

Round 5 winners in the 2023 ORFFW were Vivonne Bay by 2, Wongan Hills by 11, Katanning by 81, LSC by 143, Scone by 156 and Manildra by 212 - Manildra high scoring with 980 points and their opponents Pomona low scoring with 768.

LSC and Manildra are 5-0, with Pomona, Katanning and Vivonne Bay all a game behind at 4-1, with 3 teams still mathematically alive at 2-3.

All 12 teams can re-shape their lists with either a short or long term emphasis - via the 2023 ORFFW midseason draft.
