Round 9 is here which brings together the semi finals and additional knock out games to finalise the season for some, place other for next year and find out who our grand finalists will be! Firstly, to the semi-finals SF1 sees the two top teams, the Caribou and the Islanders face off. Seems unjust that the two teams who finished on top won't get the chance to meet in the big dance but hey that's how the biscuit crumbles here in the PL world! The coaches will have both teams primed and ready for what promises to be a fantastic battle SF2 sees last weeks elimination finals winners meet for the opportunity to keep moving forward. The Dynamos and the Storm matchups look mouth watering and a big crowd is expected to see a great high scoring match! The remaining games in the knockout pool sees last week's winners playing off for the 7th position in the 2025 knockout, while for last week's losers they need to win 2 in a row from this point to secure the 8th and final knockout position. Royals vs Kruisers on paper looks.... like no danger game at all for the Royals. With the Kruisers having a truly putrid season, the Royals should easily account for them and join the top 6 teams in the 2025 knockout. The other match sees All Stars vs Llamas. The best the Llamas can hope for is a victory to open their 2024 account as there is no next week for this week's loser. Best of luck to those battling it out for the grand final! @TheTassieHawk @Chloe @Jono Steven @Corza @Peter W @Athos123 @hoschke118 @WillH_VI @FreeKickLiam

The Premier League Round 9 (finals week 2) recap was once again provided by ChatGPT SF1 Well, well, well, if it isn’t the week where the Islanders decided they wanted to be the punchline of the league’s joke, losing to the Caribou by a staggering 215 points *865-1080). I guess they thought the best defense was a good laugh! Maybe they were just trying to make the Caribou feel better about their chances of winning—nothing says “team spirit” like a generous helping of defeat. Coach @FreeKickLiam has made the Grand Final in their first Premier League season while the Islanders ponder a successive preliminary final exit. SF2 Meanwhile, the Dynamos squeaked past the Storm in a nail-biter (931-895) that had all the intensity of a high-stakes game of chess—if chess involved a lot more yelling and questionable snacks. The Dynamos showed us that sometimes all you need to win is a bit of luck and a few players who can actually remember where they left their cleats. Coach @WillH_VI makes the big dance for the second consecutive year and will be looking to surpass their runner up finish from season 2023. The Storm's late season form couldn't hold up under finals intensity but they will aim to lift their performances next season and give the 2025 premiership a huge shake. Knockout Play-in Match 3 The Royals decided they’d had enough of being overshadowed and stomped the Kruisers into the ground like a toddler at a birthday party who just discovered cake. I’m pretty sure the Kruisers were left wondering if they had accidentally wandered into the wrong league—maybe a toddler soccer league would’ve suited them better? Courtesy of an 858-747 victory coach @Peter W has snagged the 7th available position in the 2025 knockout while @FreoDockers will be involved in another qualifier next week Knockout Play-in Match 4 Let’s not forget the All Stars vs. Llamas showdown, where the All Stars performed like they were auditioning for a superhero movie. Llamas, on the other hand, appeared to be more focused on perfecting their signature “lost in the pasture” look, which unfortunately didn’t translate well into points. The 900-787 victory sees the All Stars earn a shot for redemption against the Kruisers next weekend while the Llamas Premiership defence has ended without a single victory for season 2024. In conclusion, this week had it all: a generous helping of “what just happened,” a sprinkle of “did we really think this through?”, and an entire buffet of “can we just hit the reset button?” Here’s to hoping next weeks Grand Final and Knkoout Comp play-in matches bring more spectacular plays and fewer laughable moments (but let’s be real, we’re here for the laughs). @Peter W is on Round 10 thread duties for the Caribou vs Dynamos and Kruisers vs All Stars matches which wrap up the 2024 season, best of luck to all 4 teams.
Congrats to this week's winners and a shout out and thanks also to @hoschke118 for their contribution this season while defending the 2023 Premier League title while pursuing a mid to late 2020's Premier League dynasty The Islanders gave 2024 their best shot but after massively exceeding their preseason expectations we were shown up in terms of talent, gameplan and composure by a Caribou @FreeKickLiam outfit that outcoached, outclassed and outworked our side all throughout the contest. A 200 point loss is always a bitter pill and the loss of Daisy D'Arcy midgame with an ACL injury throws another spanner into our planning for the 2025 season and beyond.
